Ep6 - Careless Man's Careful Daughter
FLASH FORWARD -
"Kali Elizabeth Mccormick. Born in Jackson, Mississippi. Met Joel Foster in high-school, who would later go on to become a partner and accomplice in your heists.." Hylia read. "Stop it. Please, I didn't do anything." Kali pleaded. Hylia continued reading, "Together you have scammed and conned 4 different educational institutes, so this would be your fifth one?" "This is all a lie!" Kali protested. "Have a donut.." Hylia offered moving the plate of donuts towards Kali. It was a dimly lit room. Kali was seated and handcuffed. Hylia wore a tightly fitted suit that complimented his chiseled body. "So, you and this Joel--Who we haven't tracked down yet," he continued, "Go to universities, you pretend to be the teacher and he a doctor or a janitor and you observe the environment for a few weeks before you embezzle from the institute. Drain everything you can and disappear. Poof!''. Kali said nothing. "Help me understand why this plan is a bit different? This time it involves you getting pregnant!" Hylia put down the files. "I don't know what you're talking about." Kali snapped. "Oh so you just had a big lunch then? Congestion? Or you're just big bellied?" Hylia jeered. "Who is the father Kali? We will find out eventually, I know it's not Joel so who is it?" Hylia demanded. "I want my lawyer, I'm being set up. I'm innocent. Let me out now!" Kali started crying. "This is an interrogation sweetie, you're not going anywhere" Hylia said.
"SIR!" Officer Halcyon barged in the room. "What?" Hylia turned. "Sir, there's been an accident...."
PRESENT DAY -
"Okay Esmeralda, I'm headed for work--Where'd you get that new necklace?" Kali asked. "Oh si si Miss Kali I hit the lottery!" Esmeralda smiled. "Well, everyone's lucky these days!" Kali whispered heading out. Kali arrived at the University on time, for her, a first. Professors always arrived early actually but today was a bit different for Kali. Today was the day all her dreams would come true. "Lookin' Good!" Kali heard walking down the hallway, she turned and saw who it was. "Oh Aidan--I was just about to go to class!" She said. "Oh yeah, did you hear about the assembly? Saiga is doing this whole thing on global warming..." Aidan began to explain. "Yeah I got the memo!" Kali laughed. "So you free for a coffee tonight?" Aidan smiled. "Yeah sure... I mean what about Sy..." "That's over!" Aidan interrupted, "It was just a thing for a moment, it didn't work out." He explained. "Sorry to hear that... HEY QUIT MAKING OUT AND GET TO CLASS!" Kali yelled at over Aidan's shoulder. Cody and Taylor's lips parted and they headed for class. "I gotta go!" Kali said to Aidan. "Yeah yeah sure, see you tonight then?" Aidan asked. "Of course, I'll text you!" Kali smiled. Aidan smiled back and walked away.
"Okay class we all have an assembly... for god's sake Taylor and Cody we're not making a sexual ed video here, quit it." Kali entered the class, putting all her things on the desk. Cody got off from Taylor's lap and went to his seat. "YOU FUCKING BITCH!" Hyun yelled at Hannah, "You set that whole thing up, Skyline told me!" "What?" Hannah turned to Skyline, who awkwardly sat behind Quinn. "You little weasel you're dead!" She threatened him. "Professor Kali, when will we find out the results for the film selection last week?" Lily asked, raising her hand. "What if we added a column in Popfection that shows all the new releases?" Daniel asked Blank. "Dude I'm telling you, if you stick a finger in there the orgasm is ten times more intense!" Jae told Liam. "Clearly, 2016 Mariah Carey is much more skinnier than 2014 one cause..." Liam was telling Rachel. "I'm having a party tonight and I invited the whole class but I was thinking..." Quinn was telling Slay. "OKAY ENOUGH." Kali snapped, her voice resonating above all. "Everybody shut it and make a single line to the auditorium--and Hyun and Hannah both of you to the principal's office. Now." She ordered. "But I didn't do anything?" "I don't even know her!" Hyun and Hannah protested. "I don't wanna hear it. You watch your language in my class. Now get out." Kali shut them down, "And Cody, Taylor I swear if I see you both making out again, you're failing the semester, both of you sit at the opposite sides of the auditorium, now hurry up." "Don't worry my love, they tried to separate Romeo and Juliet too and look what happened..." Taylor whispered to Cody as the entire class formed a line and made their way to the auditorium.
"Many reasons are there for Global Warming. It is feared that the world may experience..." Oh my god this is so incredibly boring. Kali thought as Principal Saiga stood at the podium and gave his speech. Kali stood near the exit, on guard duty. "Professor Kali, may I be excused?" Cody came up to her and asked. "Yes, wait where is Taylor?" Kali asked. "He's over there," Cody pointed in the far corner of the auditorium where Taylor sat, legs spread, arms behind his head. "Don't worry it's not what you think it is I just really need to use the bathroom." Cody told her, flashing a smile. "Okay fine. But come back fast, Principal Saiga is almost done with his speech". Cody nodded and left. "..It is our duty, as human beings. To watch over our planet, so our children.." Saiga spoke, his eyes catching Kali's from the stage, Kali gave him a smile. Saiga's eyes moved elsewhere and he continued with this speech. "And thus I want to announce that this institute will now use biofuel to power it's generators! We have not one, but three whole trucks full of biofuel outside our gates and we will begin the exchange process starting tomorrow!" The audience burst into a forced applause. Aidan who stood near the stage, looked over at Kali and smiled. Kali smiled back. The speech ended and Saiga walked off the stage. Professor Wilson took over to annouce the winners from the Film selection last week.
Tee-lee-lee-Tee-lee-lee Kali's phone rang. "Why are you calling me on my cell?" Kali asked, her voice stern. "It's gone Kali. EVERYTHING'S GONEE!!" Someone yelled through the phone. "Calm down Joel what happened?" Kali asked, rushing out the auditorium. "THE MONEY WE STOLE FROM THE SCHOOL. $15 MILLION. ALL CLEARED OUT." Joel yelled. "WHAT? Okay okay relax..." Kali said, "Look look we haven't lost everything, we'll look into this okay?" She tried to calm him down, "We still have the baby daddy money okay? that's a better pay out. We'll figure it out. I'll call you back." She hung up.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" a scream echoed through the hallway. Kali froze.
"What accident?" Hylia asked. "There's a fire at the University, Sir. We also..." Halcyon stopped. "Also WHAT?" Hylia yelled. "Officers Maraj and Chris, they found another dead body. A female." Halcyon replied.

Might as well do this here considering we have the section
This is a review for the Gayest album of all time LIGHT YEARS
1) Spinning Around - One of her most popular and well-remembered songs. Also a total bop and a really fun song. Also very applicable to that point in her career considering her come back. The perfect come back single 10/10
2) On A Night Like This - ICONIC. LEGENDARY. Truly one of her best ever songs to me. Amazing production and a total event of a song. One of my fave Kylie songs ever 10/10
3) So Now Goodbye - Filler number one This song adds nothing to the album and while it's boppy it's just such a drag honestly 5.5/10
4) Disco Down - EPIC SONG. EPIC PRODUCTION. Great flow of lyrics. One of the best non-singles on this album. The only part I don't like this the vocal effect at the very beginning 9.5/10
5) Loveboat - One of her gayest songs and such a bop. Just totally fun and great production. It's like a vacation in song form 10/10
6) Koocachoo - First of all what does this word even mean lol. Second this song is filler for filth. Fun but just adds nothing to me 5/10
7) Your Disco Needs You - HER GAYEST SONG EVER!!! LEGENDARY SONG WITH LEGENDARY PRODUCTION AND LYRICS. TEACH ME FRENCH BILINGUALIE!!! 10/10
8) Please Stay - Underrated honestly. A nice cute bop with great Latin influenced production 8.5/10
9) Bittersweet Goodbye - A Complete DRAGGGGGGGG of a song While it does have substance it's just too slow 5/10
10) Butterfly - Also underrated. This song is a total bop and has great production. It's obvious why this was chosen as a club single 8.5/10
11) Under The Influence Of Love - This song is filler but honestly it's such a Bop. Great production overall 8/10
12) I'm So High - More like I'm So Filler Honestly why was this included. It adds NOTHING 5/10
13) Kids - Great production and one of her best collabs for sure. However to me it's a bit overrated 7/10
14) Light Years - Iconic title track. I loveeeeee the production and the lyrics. I also love the stuff about Kylie acting as an attendant and "Flying KM Air" ... ICONIC 10/10
Overall there's not a lot of middle ground on this album. Songs are pretty much either average and filler or very good and outstanding. This is such a fun album and I'm glad Kylie blessed the homosexuals with this Gem

Broke & Sick
14, Jan, 2017
I woke up sicker than yesterday. Headache, fever, sore throat, sweating… well the sweating was intentional; actually it’s more of a substitute for medicine at times. There were times I was completely broke and couldn’t get anything to heal my aching body, let alone get a doctor’s appointment, so dressing up with multi-layers of clothes, a jacket, socks, and a beanie to get as much sweat out from my weak body to attempt to get my temperature down seemed like the best medicine available. I called my boyfriend with a barely-existing voice letting him know my condition. He then told me that he wasn’t far from my apartment with his work, a flexible job with multiple locations and clients, and told me that he’s stopping by to see if I needed something. I told him “fine” and waited for him in my little faux fur coat while I caught up with the latest episode of Celebrity Big Brother.
I often thought about dark thoughts in the last couple days, which are always right under the surface but love to pop out like pimples whenever I’m suffering from an illness. It’s easy for me to go back to that place of fear of tomorrow. The thing that I dread most when I’m sick is facing or dealing with myself. I judge myself and my actions 20 times over and the mere thought of death or the afterlife makes me curl up and breakdown in tears. It’s so easy when I’m sick and alone in a room with nobody to check on me, and at times I couldn’t even get up to go to the hospital. This time it was less dramatic, it’s less of an illness but who knows? It could be the calm before the storm.
My boyfriend knocks and I open the door in my little jacket. He checks up on me a bit then he tells me about his fist fight from the previous night. I was like “No, you didn’t punch a guy!” Sadly the guy deserved it and I had previously warned him about what some clients will end up doing to get out of paying you for a job on their house and that he should get the money upfront. Obviously nobody listened to me, and when does anyone ever listen to me? Apparently he knocked out that client’s front tooth out! The strange part that didn’t make any sense is that the clients’ older brother came in on them and said that his brother deserved the punches and that he should’ve paid the work’s worth like any normal law abiding person would, but I guess that’s what happens when you don’t make official contracts and live in a place that doesn’t respect the law for the most part. I was looking at his hand and saw a clear bump on his right wrist and to which he told me that’s the part that hit the guy’s tooth. He asked me if I went to the doctor, and I told him that I need to feel it out more to see if it’s going to continue and if more symptoms will show up. He said that he’ll give me a back massage, and boy did I need one because my back felt sore as hell.
I lied on my mattress, which I’ve laid on the floor today to get closer to the electric heater, with my orange jacket. He caressed my back before massaging it. He showed me sketches relating to his work and I asked about them while he cracked my aching back. I asked him to then stand on my back because it felt like that was the only way I could properly crack it. He then started to softly touch my back and neck, he knows exactly how I like it done, while I thought about my situation. I barely have food left in the fridge/cupboard and my car needs an oil change. The last thing I’d want to happen is for my engine to die out due to no oil being there like last year, a mega mess, so the oil thing was weighing heavily on my mind. My boyfriend knew my struggles in general but not the specific recent ones. He asked and I was honest, and he gave me money to see the doctor – which I didn’t do yet – and attempted to clean the garbage dump that I call my room, to which I objected to. “I’ll do it when I’m better” I said. “No you won’t” he replied. “I know.” I said back. It is what it is, I’m just a broke sick pig with a back ache and a sore throat so I might as well just own up to it. Plus who has time to clean, we can do that when we’re dead….. or not I guess!
The touching and caressing went downwards as I lied on my stomach and his hand went to my rear. He touched it softly and it calmed me a bit and for a moment I forgot I was ill. I kept turning my face away from him, I never want to be looked at when I’m sick especially that I’m self-conscious and insecure in general, can you imagine me having to be seen at while sick?! That was another thing, in previous relationships I hardly ever let my boyfriends, or anyone for that matter, see me sick. My co-workers get a pass because I’m usually forced to work while being sick, and at a certain time I was sick for three weeks and didn’t miss a day of work. His hand started grabbing my junk from beneath and I realized that he was in the mood, but didn’t want to make me feel like I have to do anything, because I was sick. So he kept rubbing it and sending chills down my spine, and then touched my butthole softy. I then grabbed his dick and he knew that I was up for it. So he lied on top of me and stuck it inside and it was nice and warm. He hugged me when he was done and we stayed there for a bit before he got up to leave. I told him to learn from his experience with that client and to never trust them in the future, to which I’m sure he won’t remember to do.
I sat for the rest of the time looking at texts from some unwanted family members doing the most as usual. I started thinking of the past, the good times, and I hate when that damn montage appears in my head, cos it’s when I start comparing the past with the present. I started thinking of a certain time when my family and I were going to Disney Land for the first time and life was much simpler. My mother had her long black Pocahontas hair while my chubby dad took pictures of everything and everyone in sight, way long before smartphones and before it became cool, your typical tourists. My mom kept so many albums of those pictures that we used to look at from time to time, which cemented the idea that yes, that was a magical time and it’s over now. I often think about whether or not it’s easier for people who feel somewhat depressed to have known happiness early on in their life or if not experiencing happiness ever is easier for them because they don’t have anything to compare their present with. Maybe I’ll learn the answer to that in time…
I'm excited to announce this project with y'all, entitled Moonlight; a stripped-down and intimate rework of Dangerous Woman.
More details will arrive in the coming week(s).
Release Schedule: late January
8. Bad Decisions
10. Touch It
14. Forever Boy
Satyricon (1969), also known as Fellini Satyricon, is a weird fantasy drama directed by Federico Fellini. Wiki: "The film is divided into nine episodes, following the scholar Encolpius and his friend Ascyltus as they try to win the heart of the young boy Gitón, whom they both love, within the film's depiction of a surreal and dreamlike Roman landscape and culture."
I didn't watch these movies, but they seem interesting and some of them are well known.
Another Country (1984) is a good movie. Maybe a little bit boring in comparison to the other movies here. It explores homosexuality/homophobia and hypocrisy. Basically, Rupert Everett is a gay guy who is disappointed with society and boys who had sex with boys, but they don't want to label themselves as gay or bi because of the reputation, so they pretend to be straight and are homophobic. My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) is a gorgeous comedy drama that deals with racism, besides homosexuality. Maurice (1987) is a romantic drama in early 20th-century England. It also deals with hypocrisy and homophobia of that time. I won't spoiled anything here, but I loved the twist. Law of Desire (1987) is a movie directed by Pedro Almodovar and that should say a lot. It tells a story about Pablo (a film director), Juan (Pablo's love interest) and Antonio (Antonio Banderas), who is in love with Pablo.
My Own Private Idaho (1991) is an interesting movie directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix. I wished it had a happy ending. The Wedding Banquet (1993) was directed by Ang Lee and tells a story about Wai-Tung Gao and Simon, a gay couple whose happinesses is interrupted by Wai-Tung's parents who decide to come to USA from Taiwan and marry him to a girl. Happy Together (1997) is a brilliant and artistic drama directed by Wong Kar Wai and follows two gay characters from China who try to renew their relationship in Argentina.
Presque rien (2000) is a French Belgian drama focused on a holiday romance. Bad Education (2004) is another gay themed movie directed by Pedro Almodovar. It is a drama that focuses on sexual abuse by Catholic priests, transsexuality and drug use. Summer Storm (2004) is a German coming-of-age drama about unrequited love. Brokeback Mountain (2005) is another great movie by Ang Lee. I guess I don't need to say anything about it because it is one of the most iconic gay movies of the 21th century. A Single Man (2009) is a debut movie by Tom Ford. It was based based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. Since Tom Ford is a fashion designer, the movie is visually elegant and stylized. It features a fashion model Jon Kortajarena, whose role was small. Jon wants to be an actor, but he sucks at it. Keep the Lights On (2012) is an American drama based on a true story and shows a complicated relationship between Erik ( a filmmaker) and Paul (a lawyer with drug addiction).
While I focused more on movies with romantic note, I enjoyed these ones too. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995) is "an American comedy film, starring Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo as three New York drag queens who embark on a road trip." While The Birdcage (1996) is also a comedy, focused on drag queens, effeminacy, conservative people and other stuff. Madonna's dancer appeared in this movie.

what's up you guys..happy new years by the way!..so..i know i havent blogged about anything lately mainly because i was too busy with school work, i was studying or rather more practicing for the ACT and spending time with my boyfriend. And speaking of boyfriend that's whats going to be the topic today...er..night..I love my boyfriend more than anything and always imagine us lasting together forever....but when i come across a beautiful woman..i end up remembering how i felt towards them the way i could never feel towards a guy. I know how my boyfriend is clingy and he wants me to do the same because he thinks im not a clingy person..which isnt true..im really clingy..but for some reason its only towards girls because i just cant find myself clinging to him in any way. I met this girl Micky..her name is Makayla but we call her Micky instead..so i met Micky through my friend Anna..it was during lunch and we started a small talk about this and that and color guard and yada yada yada..so two days later i see Micky again with Kendall and then Gabby was there yanno like the whole gang came together and whatever and so i just kept tellin her how cute she is..not in a I-Have-A-Crush-On-You kind of way but in a friendly way. She thought i was flirting with her and so when me and the gang went into the bathroom all i did was wait for them and Anna came to wash her hands and i was there next to her and then five seconds later I see Micky just fitting herself in between the sink on my side i thought it was cute because she just wants to be with us and when the gang went back to our seats, i have no idea why this happened but Gabby just spilled out loudly that im half gay..its actually bi but she finds it the same thing..and then Micky right away said that she was bi too..and to be honest i actually did like her at fir<3st sight because she's legit hot as f***..but as usual i like to play it cool and just act like nothing's up..so anyways...im not saying i have a crush on her because litterally alot of people will look at someone and think they're attractive but they wouldn't actually date the person it's like a straight woman looking at another straight woman that finds her ass attractive but it doesnt necessarily mean she wants an intimate relationship with her..that's kinda like me towards Micky..but even though i wouldnt find my self in a relationship with her i gotta say it feels good having that sort of loving feeling towards a woman..but what confuses me most was after i had that feeling, i wasn't sure if i was REALLY bi..sometimes i think I'm lesbian because of the lack of intimacy i have towards men that i barely show them any affection or interest..which by the way im struggling with towards my boyfriend...i didn't want to believe i was completely lesbian because that would mean throwing out the only guy who would give anything to make me happy..but if it does turn out to be true then it won't become a good happy healthy relationship because he's gonna suffer through the pain and heart break i gave him and im gonna have to live with it because i can't change myself or my feelings..just like a straight man can't turn gay....a bi, possibly lesbian, cant turn straight..im always feeling myself leaning more towards women..now i dont even know if my feelings for him are real or true and me him have been dating for 5 months now and im still not finding myself being intimate with him..i dont kiss him very often..and even when i do we makeout in his car but its hard to find myself actually falling for his kisses..like i dont feel anything from him...im still fighting at what could be the truth of being homosexual..i try to avoid being in a relationship with girls because i know im gonna find myself clinging to her and becoming really affectionate...and what's worst is that i can become very vulnerable and my heart could break easily when im like that..i know it's wrong leading him on..but im trying hard not to...i know its mean and a little cruel to lead guys on like that..they dont like it..and to them they feel like their girls never cared for them..and i dont want my boyfriend to think that way of me..i try my best to bring him out to get coffee together, watch movies together, go eat somewhere together..and i think tomorrow on friday im gonna bring him to the South Florida Fair thats about to open..so those of you reading this please dont think im leading him on..i care about his feelings and im sensative towards guys because i know how it feels to be led on...i thought i knew who i was and what i wanted...but.. i guess im still struggling to figure it out...i would like to tell you more but as you know things get pretty complicated because i still havent told him about it because i dont want him to doubt this relationship so now im back at square one to figuring out who i am and what i want...thanks for reading guys it really means alot i really enjoy knowing you guys read them because it encourages me to write more...you guys are amazing please like this and i love you! bye my little pumpkin patch! (BTW ignore the spoilers down below because there no spoilers i just accidently clicked on it then when i want it to go away i thought clicking it again would but it made it worst so)SpoilerSpoiler

So, after New Year's and my crush telling me how he wants us to just be friends, he has now been low-key flirting with me over snapchat. We are still talking every day, we still want to see each other, I am just so confused. How you gonna kiss me, tell me you want to be friends as you like another guy more and then flirt with me.
I can't complain too much as I do like him and I want him to flirt with me, but I want his whole attention, I don't want to be second best.
CYNDI LAUPER - "SHINE" (2001/2004)
Cyndi Lauper broke out in 1983 with her blockbuster debut She's So Unusual. The album spawned multiple Top 10 hits including the 80s classics "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time". Her 1986 sophomore album True Colors was not as successful but still managed to have multiple hits including the title track which has become an LGBT anthem in the years since its release. However after her first 2 albums, she experiences a slump in success caused by a mixture of label problems and lack of promotion. Her third album A Night to Remember (or "A Night to Forget" as Cyndi once called it) had mixed responses in sales and critical reception. Her next 2 albums Hat Full of Stars and Sisters of Avalon received very little attention from the mainstream, resulting in poor commercial performance. However, despite the lack of commercial success these albums would show a development in Cyndi's artistry, stripping away the "weird" image of the 80s and showcasing a more mature side of Cyndi. Shine was originally planned to be a dance album, but the style developed in a continuation of these previous 2 albums. However, just like those albums, Shine would have minimal chart success and also suffered a worse fate than those previous 2 albums.
The album was originally supposed to be released in 2001 via Adel records, her first album after finishing her contract with Epic Records. But the album's release was constantly moved back and postponed. Adel records then folded and the album's release was cancelled. Cyndi bought back the tracks from Adel Records and was now effectively an independent musician without a record label. Cyndi put together a 5 track EP with some songs from the album ("Shine", "It's Hard to Be Me", "Madonna Whore", "Water's Edge" and a remix of "Shine") and toured with the EP. Eventually, Cyndi would sign back with Epic, but the full album never had an official release until 2004 and this was only in Japan. There have been no plans to release the full album in any other countries (if you try to search for this album on iTunes or Spotify, you will only find the EP version). This is unfortunate, because I believe that this album is one of Cyndi's very best. It showcases a variety of music styles, more so than any of her other albums. It also could have been a potential comeback album if has the right amount of label support, but of course this was impossible under the circumstances at the time.
In this review, I will give my opinion on each the songs from this album. I will also provide a YouTube link to each track (if I can find it on YouTube).
I know that many people may disagree with this opinion, but the title track is a contender for the best song of Cyndi's discography. It begins with a wonderful string arrangement before drums and vocals are brought in. Cyndi's vocals are powerful and the energy of this song never stops until the very last second. The song lyrically follows the same theme as "True Colors", encouraging the listener to be more confident in themselves. She tells the listener 'I'll stand by you, don't try to push me away' and tells us 'don't be afraid, it will all be OK'. "Shine" is a song that can make you feel better even if you don't feel good, and it takes a special type of song to accomplish that.
02. It's Hard to Be Me
This track sees a return of the 'rockier' 80s Cyndi. The song is about a celebrity who tries to show a different side of their personality but finds this difficult to do because of how they are portrayed in the media, 'If you could see all my depth and complexity, I think you'd agree, It's Hard to Be Me'. The song was supposedly written about Anna Nicole Smith, who tried to buy the song as the theme tune to her reality show but Cyndi declined. I haven't found any confirmation that this was true but it certainly is interesting if Anna Nicole Smith thought this song would be a good way of representing herself on a reality show.
03. Madonna Whore
No, this is not about the Madonna. This is actually about the Madonna-Whore Complex (look it up). This track is slightly slower than the previous song, featuring the use of guitars, drums and flutes. With lines such as 'Every woman's a Madonna, every woman's a whore, you can try and reduce me but I'm so much more', this song has a feminist message which Cyndi has always included in her music since her debut.
04. Wide Open
One of my favourite tracks on this album. The track features a rich instrumentation and brings up the pace of the album after the previous song. Lyrically, the song is about wanting more from life ('Wide Open for anything') and moving away from an unsatisfactory life ('I used to cast out wishes that never came back again').
05. Rather Be With You
This track has a slight Motown-influenced song. Lyrically, the song is about wanting a relationship to return to how it was ('Wish I could make us all brand new') but Cyndi feels that this relationship can be fixed ('I think we'll make it through, 'cause if it's all the same I'd rather be with you'). This track was a grower for me, at first I didn't take much notice of it, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it.
06. Who Let in the Rain (New Version)
This song originally appeared on the album Hat Full of Stars and for some reason was re-recorded for this album. Usually I am hesitant about song re-recordings but this one works out well. There are only minor differences to the original, but this version sounds more 'modern' than the original. The song fits in this album nicely and this shows the connection in styles between Hat Full of Stars, Sisters of Avalon and Shine. This song follows a similar theme to "Rather Be With You", concerned with troubles within a relationship ('When love gets strong, people get weak, sometimes they lose control and wind up in too deep'). This song is one of my favourite songs from Cyndi's discography and I love both versions of this song.
07. Comfort You
One of the more experimental songs on the album (and also one of my favourites), this song has influences of new wave and electronica and also features some of the best lyrics on the album. The track is essentially about Cyndi wanting to comfort her partner despite the world facing so many problems ('An ocean of humanity, some wash up along the street'). The way Cyndi intertwines the themes of a troubled relationship with the themes of a troubled world is reminiscent of her songwriting style on Hat Full of Stars, especially with songs like 'That's What I Think' and 'Who Let in the Rain'.
One of my favourite songs from the album. This track reminds me of the songs included on Madonna's album Ray of Light (which is my favourite Madonna album too). Like with the previous song, this one of the more experimental moments on the album. Lyrically, the track tells us of a number of conversations that Cyndi has with different people and she comes to the conclusion that our actions will always affect each other ('What comes floating to me, eventually will come floating back to you').
Another very strong track follows from the previous two. This song features a similar instrumentation to "Shine" but with a darker edge. This track tells the story of a young girl from Sicily who has a unhappy marriage when she is older and she wants to escape with a handsome man named Valentino ('Waiting for Valentino, his dark eyes lock on mine').
10. This Kind of Love
One of the slower and stripped down songs on the album. The song is essentially about a relationship that isn't good for either person involved. In my opinion, this one of the weaker tracks on the album, but it's still a good song.
11. Higher Plane
Shine was originally planned to be a dance album, but much of the songs were changed from their original sound. This song is the only track that holds some resemblance to the original sound for this album, but it still manages to fit quite well in the tracklist. The simple lyrics are proof of the intended dance sound for this song ('Make the music and the rhythm carry me away') but this is certainly not a bad thing.
12. Water's Edge
This song is a little sister to "Time After Time" and is every bit as flawless. The song is about reflection, loneliness and wanting to be protected ('I wish you could wrap yourself around me, I am gripped by a loneliness') and it is without a doubt one of her best songs from her 2000's albums.
13. I Miss My Baby (I haven't been able to find a YouTube link for this song)
This song was originally a bonus track for Japan, but since the album didn't get released anywhere else, it's status as a 'bonus track' is irrelevant. This song is the most 'stripped back' on the album, with a simple guitar and drum sound. The song is about someone missing their partner while sleeping in bed alone. Overall, it's a simple but effective track to end the album.

Welcome all to the Alola Friendly! It is the second official Battle Competition for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Those of you who have been playing competitively in December will know of the Battle of Alola; the first Sun and Moon Battle Competition. This competition follows on the heels of that one, before Pokemon Bank finally releases. The rules for this competition have been announced recently. You can read them bullet-pointed below:
- The Alola Friendly is a 3v3 Single Battle format; where you can battle 15 times a day (45 in total). Pokemon will be reset (up and down) to level 50 for this competition.
- Only Pokemon caught in Sun and Moon between Pokedex Numbers 001-301 can be used
- Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna and all Island Scan Pokemon are banned.
- Item usage is permitted but mega stones are banned.
- You cannot use two Pokemon with the same dex number or two or more of the same held item.
You can read the full list of rules HERE. The competition will take place between January 27 and 29 (UTC timezones). Note that if you fail to make your fifteen battles, they will carry over to the next day; however you will not be able to battle after 23:59 UTC on January 29. So I'm sure you're all questioning yourselves on how to sign-up; if like many of us, you're new to competitive battling in Generation Seven. Well, here's an easy guide:
- First and foremost, before the competition begins, go to the festival plaza. Then go online. Click Battle on the touch screen and then 'Download Rules'. Then, download the Alola Friendly ruleset. Step one is now complete.
- Step Two: create a Pokemon Global Link account. The PGL is a site that maintains a profile for yourself and takes notes of your online scores. Once created, make sure to go back to the plaza and register your current game (to the PGL) from inside the castle. (Speak to the girl near the PC).
- Step Three: Sign-ups will be open between January 19 and January 26. If you do not sign-up for the competition by the end of January 26, you won't be able to participate. Log-in to the PGL and sign-up for the competition on it's direct page during this time.
- Step Four: If you're signed up, then make your team. (I'd advise putting it in a battle box). You can only use one team of six (and can't edit it) for the duration of the entire competition. This will not be locked until you begin your first battle on January 27.
- Step Five: When the competition starts, go to the Plaza, then online, then Battle and visit the battle spot and choose 'Online Competition'. You will be thrust into your first battle and your Battle Box will be locked until January 29 ends. Good luck and have fun!
For more information, please check out this information page regarding the Alola Friendly. So... what you doin' then. Will you be competing? I know I will! Share some thoughts about the competition below with me. What are you thinking about using? If you have any questions, I'll answer them. Good luck everyone!

2016 was a pretty shit year, huh? Good thing it wasn't for movies! There were a lot of movies I would give either 5 or 4.5 stars to. Honestly, I had trouble deciding to do a top 10 and not a 15 o 20. And I still haven't seen all the movies I wanna see (Manchester By The Sea and Jackie to name a couple)!
Now without further ado...
Honestly, this is on here 70% because of the scene with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in the bathroom (if you've seen it, you'll know). I want that scene to become a modern classic in comedy. The movie itself is very funny and it's quite quotable too! There's also a good amount of violence and stuff.
I really REALLY don't care about anyone else's opinions on this movie. I've heard so much dumb shit about it (including men being offended at Chris Hemsworth's character, bite me), and it took me a bit, but really, I don't care. I saw this twice in theaters, it was just so enjoyable to me. I was telling all my friends don't listen to the negative nellies, go out and see this movie! It's really funny, if you're into Paul Feig's comedy (ie if you like Bridesmaids, go see this now). It's mostly just stupid jokes, and it's not everyone's brand of stupid, but it is mine, so it deserves its ranking on my list!
I bent the rules for this one since it was technically a 2015 release, but the US got it in 2016, so I'm putting it on here. The Lobster is one of the most original films I've ever seen. It's about a man who goes to this place called The Hotel where they have to find a romantic partner in 45 days or less, or they are turned into the animal of their choosing and are sent to the woods. What a premise! I was intrigued well before I actually saw it and I'm SO glad I did.
Honestly, I knew I was gonna love this movie right at the beginning when he asked if she could put him down as bisexual, she told him he had to choose one, and he stared at the floor for a good full minute in silence choosing and I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the theater in uproarious laughter.
About 40 minutes into the movie I was kinda sitting there like "ok...I don't get why everyone's getting their panties all in a bunch it's just a movie about Amy Adams trying to communicate with Aliens" and then the moment happened and liquid came out of every hole in my body. I honestly don't think I've ever been that shook and proved wrong by a movie ever. Don't even watch trailers or anything, just watch the movie, it's truly an experience.
I'm a BIG fan of The Commitments, so I was either gonna love this for being similar or hate it for being a "rip off". Clearly, from my placement on here, it was the former. Sing Street is SO cute and the music's good too! It's about a kid in the 80s who decides to start a band to win the affection of this cool girl he meets. Also it's on Netflix and it's short so it's easy to watch!
My FAVORITE thing about this movie is it's appreciation for music videos. Music videos are amazing and deserve more respect and finally, someone gave it to them.
Holy shit, what a good representation of teenage depression what the fuck? I related to this WAAAAAAY too much to Nadine. I saw it with my mom and had to hold back all my tears cause I didn't want to have to explain "I ALSO WANTED TO DIE IN HIGH SCHOOL" to my mother (on my birthday). It was also just a really well written script. Like, the jokes were funny and the characters were all great (especially Nadine and her teacher, I love Woody Harrelson). The Edge of Seventeen really affected me and I'm excited to own it and watch it a bunch more times.
I love stop motion animation so much. Coraline is a movie I've seen a bunch of times (also Laika Studios for the record), but the animation in Kubo makes Coraline look like a student film. Holy SHIT is this good animation! I'm so glad I got to see this twice in theaters, it was such a beautiful film. And the STORY wow it was original and enjoyable and the characters were all FANTASTIC holy SHIT, I should have saved myself all the embarrassment that's to come and made this my number 2!
Popstar came out in June. I've seen it 3 times since. I'm convinced someone scanned my brain one night and created a movie with all the things they found that I would enjoy. Joke songs? Check. References to pop culture (aka stupid Justin Bieber references I wish I didn't know that this movie made me feel better about)? Check. Stupid jokes about poop and dicks? Check. Mariah Carey? Double check! I'm pretty sure The Lonely Island owns my ass and I'm perfectly ok with that. As long as they keep making more movies
Swiss Army Man is easily one of the weirdest experiences of my entire life. What a strange film this is. I love it so much. It's very funny (if you're me and you like that kind of humor) and it also made me cry? It's so WEIRD, I really don't know how else to explain it. If you start this and you think the first 10 minutes are gross, don't bother continuing cause that's the vibe of the movie. But if you enjoy a good fart joke as much as I do, than you're in for a ride (get it?).
I don't even wanna write anything else about this except that I want to move to LA so badly, someone take me to La La Land!
I'm curious to know what everyone else liked as well so please share with me!Spoiler
@Breathless Mahoney I wanna know yours

"I wonder what he/she does when they log off?"
This is a question all of us have asked ourselves at least once, I'm sure. I for one have asked myself this question multiple times, once a day, twice a day, twice a minute! All those times, and more. The lives of those we've encountered on a pop forum, suddenly become interesting. Your friends logs off, and you wonder what they do, and where they go. But you have no way of finding out.
That's where I come in. You see, my natural Winnian psychology allows to experience with others through a computer screen, or in my case a phone screen. I have the unique ability to detach my spirit from my host body, I say host because I have many physical forms. Some of them you may know, Cabbages, celery, apples, they are usually vegetables, but also sometimes fruit. But that is not important.
As I was saying, I can detach my spirit and travel through the Internet modem, Ethernet cable, or wifi signals, and into the room of any member, or person for that matter, imaginable. From there I can then distribute my spirit to various objects, like socks, tvs, carpets, toys. Any object within any usual home. Then I can watch the persons every day routine for as long as I want.
You get to see some really crazy stuff, and somethings more mundane. How they brush their teeth, which shoe they put on first, how many people they text, how many times they've defended the likes of Bjork and Tori Amos. Usual stuff like that. But back to the experience I recently had it showed me somethings about my self. Some things I would have ever known.
I was sitting up in my room, late at night, browsing FOTP, bored and in need of some crazy cool excitement. When I received a notification, "Liam mentioned you in a topic". The usual of course, lesser known members always mention legends like me in their threads, so they become a hit. But something about that notification sparked my interest. I knew what I wanted and needed to do. Use my Winnian power to investigate Liam's life.
For months I had made fun of Liam for being on the site for 6 years plus, and making disgusting jokes about Anne's Frank, and being a general hermit and nuisance to this forum, and he deserves to be banned. But unfortunately, Oinka wouldn't do that. But I digress.
So I did what you expect, I used transcendence ability to slither my way through Liam's wifi connection, all the way to Australia, or wherever he lives. I don't remember specifications regarding the unspecified.
It took my quite a long time, the connection was maybe "1mps". Dangerously slow, slower than Anti's ticket sales. But what could I expect from a 3rd world country, like Austria. I was surprised he even had wifi. When I finally arrived to his computer screen, I was shocked. His room looked just like I thought.
A dump, half-empty Coke bottles littered the ground, the stench of some strange odor lingered overhead, the Hershey's chocolate wrappers lay scattered strategically on the ground like Lilly pads, they were used, I presume, to avoid direct contact with the various different mutations of mold that grew like weeds on the carpet. Synthetic wool carpet, at that. My personal carpets are Sheeps wool, straight from Switzerland, I was shocked and worried. Those synthetic bristles must have felt torturous on the feet, but I digress.
I detached from the computer screen, the air burnt my eyes, so painful. I turned my head left to see a window, the lock knob rusted shut, this room obviously hadn't been aired out in years. That I knew for sure. I took form in a nearby lamp-post, presumably bought from some Australian Walmart imitation, for $1.39, and waited for Liam assume his rightful position as head of the computer screen.
I waited for what felt like a eternity, during that time I was able to make out the various scents that inhabited his room, lilac, rose, and other flowers. Disgusting scents to me, must be heaven to him though. I looked to the ground and saw that the wrappers and trash had disappeared, what lay underneath was a pristine whit carpet, devoid of a single stain. The brightness of it burned my eyes, a startling and attention seeking white color. His Window seek didn't miss my second inspection either, now a vibrant yellow painted with lovely acrylic. Yellow is a ugly color to me, but I digress.
Then a sound, the sound of a knob turning. Liam entered the room, and laid his jacket and house keys down on his neatly made bed. The sheets tucked tightly beneath the mistress and bed frame, that kind of tideness would drive me insane, but luckily this wasn't my room. He walked over to his laptop, a 16 inch Gold MacBook Pro, my trusty Microsoft desktop was a step above that over-priced mess.
He opened the "Safari" icon, and typed into Google, "Fotpforums.com". He logged on and browsed for a while, but then logged off after a hour. "YAWN!!", I thought to myself. I waited all this time for him to come home, and he barely stays logged on for a hour. What a snooze fest.
I detached myself from the IKEA lamp, and used rode my wifi signals back to my room, it took much longer to get back, than to get there. Which was weird to me. I materialized onto my Kindle Fire HD, that laid untouched in my closet, along with the rest of the junk in there. I hopped and resumed my usual physical form.
I played a quick little game of hopscotch with the few wrappers that laid scattered strategically across my carpet, which was a dastardly green and white lava, that what's I like to call it. I sat down quickly at my computer and to my surprise it was still on. Guess I had never turned it off.
I typed into Google, "fotpforums.com", auto-suggestion finish for me as soon as I got to "fo". Thank god for technology right!? I pressed search and was brought directly to the home-page. The notification icon lit by "6 new notifications". I didn't even have to log in. And that's when it hit me.
I hadn't logged in since January.
Leslie Knope, Parks and RecreationQuote
Winning is every girl's dream. But it's my destiny. And my dream.
Where do I even begin? Leslie is the perfect role model: she's supportive of her friends, cares deeply about her community, remains optimistic in the face of adversity, takes her work very seriously but still makes time for fun, and always stands up for the right thing no matter what the consequence. She knows her worth, lifts up her fellow women, believes in herself, loves waffles, and even wrote this poignant letter about the 2016 U.S. presidential election. If only our real-life politicians were more like her.
Fa Mulan, MulanQuote
How about a girl who's got a brain, who always speaks her mind?
Against all odds, Mulan saved the entire country of China, all while defying gender roles in the process. Courageously masquerading as a man in order to take her father's place in the army and fight in the war, Mulan simultaneously breaks tradition and brings honor to her family. Even though she wears a disguise for much of the film, she still stays true to herself. While previous Disney heroines might have waited around for a better future, Mulan goes out and fights for hers.
Leia Organa, Star WarsQuote
Somebody has to save our skins. Into the garbage chute, fly boy.
Back when Disney princesses were still helpless damsels in distress, Leia was already taking names and kicking ass. She held her own in a boys' club, paving the way for future film heroines like Black Widow. Her feisty nature and quick wit captured the hearts of millions of fans, and despite her hardships she was never once tempted by the dark side. She even ascended the ranks to become General of the Resistance, staying fiercely loyal to her loved ones and never giving up hope. Rest in peace, Carrie.
Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger GamesQuote
I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!
This girl is on fire. Katniss committed the most selfless act of all for her sister: volunteering to take her place as a tribute in the Hunger Games, with a one in twenty-four chance of survival. Not only does she survive that competition, but the next one as well which is made up of previous winners. Never one to sit on the sidelines, she fights for her freedom and calls out the corruption of the Capitol for what it is. She can think on her feet, she loves her family unconditionally, and she's a killer archer.
Martha Jones, Doctor WhoQuote
I spent a lot of time with you thinking I was second best, but you know what? I am good.
Easily the most overlooked companion of the revival series, Martha is also the most self-sufficient. Studying to become a physician, she would have been successful and accomplished even without the Doctor's interference. After boldly confronting racism during their expeditions to the past and saving the world through the power of storytelling, she exits the TARDIS on her own accord after realizing that the Doctor takes her for granted. Unlike other companions, her life goes on after their adventures conclude.
Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore GirlsQuote
We're almost there and nowhere near it. All that matters is that we're going.
On the surface, Lorelai might not seem like the best role model: she got pregnant at 16 and ran away from home, after all. But the way she bounced back from rock bottom is nothing short of admirable. Originally a maid at the Independence Inn, she worked her way up to management and eventually opened her own inn, all while raising daughter Rory as a single mom and getting her business degree in the process. She's also more preoccupied with coffee and kitsch than with getting a man.
Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire SlayerQuote
I'm standing on the mouth of hell and it is gonna swallow me whole. And it'll choke on me.
She didn't just fight for her family, friends, community, or country like others on this list: she fought for the universe. Buffy turned the horror genre on its head by fighting the monsters back instead of becoming their lunch like so many pretty blonde girls before. Instead of running from them, they ran from her. In touch with fashion as well as her emotions, she proves that femininity doesn't equate to weakness. Buffy takes on the thankless job of protecting the world from evil without receiving any recognition for it.
I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat and sail across the sea to restore the heart to Te Fiti.
The heroine with the most recent debut on this list, Moana listens to the voice inside and follows it even when others warn against it. She is a natural leader, successful in commanding a demigod to help save the island she's training to inherit. She softens the arrogant Maui's heart and teaches him the importance of love, selflessness, and seeing the good in people. She accepts her destiny and fiercely explores the unknown in honor of her grandmother, ready for whatever it has in store for her.
Black Widow, Marvel Cinematic UniverseQuote
I'm always picking up after you boys.
Like Leia before her, Natasha Romanoff was the lone woman in a team that was otherwise a sausage party, at least until the Scarlet Witch showed up. A spy-turned-Avenger, she can easily keep up with a giant, a super-soldier, a god, and a man with robotic armor without possessing any superhuman abilities herself. She represents feminine strength, and is consistently the most level-headed member, intervening when the male Avengers get carried away. Hurry up with that solo movie already.
Hermione Granger, Harry PotterQuote
Now, if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed...or worse, expelled.
My all-time greatest hero. Hermione has stellar grades, loves to read, tries to stay out of trouble, doesn't have time for trivial matters like relationships and fashion, and is oftentimes teased. These traits are usually reserved for the uncool, but Hermione is no wimp. She's tougher than nails, independent, opinionated, stubborn, values her brain, stands up for the underdog whether it's mistreated house elves or Neville Longbottom, saved Harry and Ron's asses literally hundreds of times, and sits pretty at the top of her class despite facing discrimination for being Muggle-born. Hermione made me proud to be all of the things I listed in the beginning myself when everyone else made me feel like a loser for it. Truly the brightest witch of her age!
That's all for now. Add your own favorites in the comments!
Also if you're going to downvote this because feminism, go right ahead. I won't argue with you, but just know that I feel bad for your sad existence.

Welcome ladies and gentleladies!
The music that I'm about to list is not from this month (or not specifically!), this is just the music I bopped to the entire month.
Let's start with the album recommendations, shall we!
Let's me self-promote a bit and recommend you my fanmade "Dangerous Woman" rework, aka "Dangerous Woman: Reloaded." An album full of edits, got rid of some features that I annoyed the pissing fuck out of me and other shite that you will hear when you listen to the album.
Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman: Reloaded
#LucaRecommends: Touch It, Thinking Bout You, Forever Boy, Moonlight & Sometimes
#LucaDoesNotRecommend: Greedy 4 Love, Side To Side, Everyday & Let Me Love You
If anyone needs a DL link, PM me!
Moving on to the second album, y'all might not read/listen to this, BUT I am 100% certain you will tear up listening to this soundtrack!
The Track Team - Avatar: The Last Airbender (OST)
An unofficial soundtrack due Nickelodeon being a dick and not putting it out managed to be one of the most illegally downloaded soundtrack albums so far.
Showing nothing but eastern sounds (tsungi horn for example) that makes you think about loved ones, anger, your life, what's good and what's not.
If you are an emotional person, like me, you will enjoy this thing even if you aren't an Avatar stan.
#LucaRecommends: The Two Lovers, Peace, Panda Lily, Last Agni Kai/The Phoenix King
#LucaDoesNotRecommend: Scarf Dance
Third and final album recommendation I have for you, is the good sis Foxes who's career hasn't been all too well.
Even though her last album was cute, she can't top her debut! From bops like Let Go For Tonight & Holding On To Heaven to Youth & The Unknown.
Foxes is truly underrated, iCarly Jepsen could never!
Foxes - Glorious (Deluxe Version)
#LucaRecommends: Youth, Talking To Ghosts, Let Go For Tonight, Night Glo
#LucaDoesNotRecommend: Home, Night Owls Early Birds
If you need a DL, PM me!
#LucaLISTS: 10 December Faves!

Hi! Welcome to my "Top 10 Albums of 2016" blog! In light on this year reaching an end and inspired by the multiple countdowns that other members have done in the forum, I decided to do one myself. This year has been pretty good to me in terms of music as I've liked a lot of releases, as well as found a lot of new stuff! Now if you know me you know that I like Korean and Japanese music, and yes, of course, there's albums of the language in this countdown. You can also probably guess my #1 correctly since I've been pretty vocal about it. You might find something new in this list that you like! Anyway, starting from #10 and going upwards...
SHINee are one of the staple groups in K-Pop, they're essential to anyone's experience in the genre and my favorite boy group ever! 1 and 1 features a variety of genres that together make up this great album; from House, to 90's Jack Swing, the album has many many gems in it. The album is a really nice collection of good vocals and production working together. It serves you bops, midtempos, (amazing) ballads.
#HyuntySTANS: SHIFT, Tell Me What To Do, Feel Good
Perfume are a techno inspired J-Pop trio, and one of my favorite artists ever. They're definitely not everyone's cup of tea, being such a heavy electronic group that features autotune, vocaloid, high-pitched voices, etc, but being a big electronic fan, that's really what makes me love them so much. COSMIC EXPLORER was preceded by many singles released prior to the album, but most of these were reworked into new versions that in some cases is for the better, and others, for the worst. Either way, the album does a great job at mixing today's EDM trends while still keeping it loyal to their sound.
#HyuntySTANS: STORY, FLASH, Cosmic Explorer, Pick Me Up
I was never a JoJo stan, hell I had never listened to a song by her previously to listening to Mad Love., but I was immediately impressed. This is a fantastic comeback album, you can feel the passion she has for music in many of the songs included here. Her vocals are absolutely fantastic - especially on the ballads Music. and I Am., whew - the production is done just right. Bops, mid-tempos, ballads, this album is a ride of emotions that I love to experience!
#HyuntySTANS: Honest., Vibe., High Heels., Good Thing.
LEMONADE, the iconic album/movie that shook the world! I could spend a while talking about how amazing the visual part of the album is, but we're talking about the music here so I'll leave that for another time! The album ranges from many, many genres yet manages to stay as a cohesive body of work. The production, the vocals, the lyrics, the theme, the concept, it's all perfectly executed and it's why this is Beyoncé best album ever.
#HyuntySTANS: 6 Inch, Freedom, Daddy Lessons, Hold Up
Big shoutout to @blankdreams. for introducing me to this album indirectly via Popfection! This album is seriously an electropop masterpiece, I'm still as amazed as I was the first day I listened to it, and I still love it as much as I did then. The album's production is insane and just massive, seriously praise Joel Little for the amazing work. It's an experience to listen to, let me tell you, especially when you get to the title track which closes the album, whew! Georgia's voice is so interesting and it shines in this album. Plus, the Tove feature is seriously an amazing moment.
#HyuntySTANS: Conscious, Free, Are You Home, Hold The Line, Recovery, Freak of Nature
I discovered DEAN not too long ago, and I'm very very glad I did! He's a South Korean alternative R&B artist who released his debut ep "130 Mood: TRBL" earlier this year. With just 6 tracks (and an outro) the album sets a moody ambient from the beginning, with a set of mid-tempos following through. The production (done by himself) is so on point, his vocals are so so smooth, the melodies are really lovely throughout the entire thing, and it all mixes together in this amazing record where every single track is a highlight. I highly recommend you listen to this, you won't regret it. He's almost a Korean The Weeknd, if that gives you any motive to listen to him!
#HyuntySTANS: 21, D (Half Moon), Pour Up
I found out about BANKS with Gemini Feed, and I was definitely interested from that point and on. The Altar did not disappoint from the excitement I had built up from before, it exceeded my expectations. I love the dark tone her music has, even in the more upbeat moments of the album. Actually I wanna point out how FLAWLESS the transition from Mother Earth to Weaker Girl is, easily one of the best moments of the album, I love that too much. Her lyrics are flawfree, the production slays. She really did that with this album.
#HyuntySTANS: Trainwreck, Gemini Feed, 27 Hours, To The Hilt
Barely a month has passed yet this album found its way into my Top 3 of the year, truly a flawless album. The album keeps his signature dark and moody R&B vibe, but it's evolved, Starboy definitely borrows more pop, electronic and house influences compared to his previous albums, and I'm a huge fan of this. The Daft Punk features really take each of those songs to a new level, and the fact that they're the opener and closer of the album is just a really nice touch.
#HyuntySTANS: Rockin', Secrets, False Alarm, A Lonely Night, Love To Lay
Pop perfection at its finest! This is the album that solidified me as an Ariana stan, it's just too damn good. Even though this is always said when talking about it, praise the lord for Focus' backlash that made her change the album's direction! The title track came through and left everyone shook, myself included. Then the rest of the album was just sent from the Pop Gods themselves. It has one of the best songs of this year, the hit that got away, Into You! By the way, Forever Boy > Knew Better
#HyuntySTANS: Into You, Touch It, Greedy, Thinking Bout You, Side to Side
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it. I really cannot put my love for this album into words, she really left me bald. I'm a huge fan of electronic music - as I've previously stated - and this album being so House-heavy was just a gift. Every single song is fucking perfect, even the interludes! The album is short but that's compensated by the fact that every song is pure perfection. I cannot wait to see what the second volume will sound like, but I'm sure it'll be just as flawless as this one.
#HyuntySTANS: Lady Wood, True Disaster, Vibes, Flashes, Keep It Simple
Hope you enjoyed my rambling, and that you might've found something new to listen to!
