  1. W.E. was actually not well received. It was torn apart by critics, although the movie was actually decent. I personally think that had she released the movie under a pseudonym, critics would not have been so harsh. It was well made.
  2. She wouldn't have felt so empowered to take those photos if it wasn't for Madonna taking all the shots for female artists. And once again Madonna was right, sometimes a women's worst enemy is other women. A woman having to limit anything she does so that she is not judged or perceived in a certain way is the definition of oppression. Being a "respectable" woman is just another way society tries to control what a woman is allowed to be. There should be no topic that is off limits for self expression, especially a woman's sexuality.
  3. Honestly, M doesn't give a shit. Radio has ignored her for a decade now, and she doesn't need it to sell out tours.
  4. Uh.... being nice and PC lost us the election frankly. As a Democrat, sometimes we need to take the gloves off and call a spade a spade, and a liar a fucking liar. I think Bill Maher made a good point this week by pointing out how Democrats need to stop being hung up not hurting people's feelings.
  5. If he does get impeached, it will damage their entire party. That's why all the SPINELESS republicans are not saying anything about all his outrageous behavior. They have no sense of ethics to call him out.
  6. He is an egomaniacal sociopath. Why the fuck is he commenting on what pop stars say? What's disgusting is that Trump is purposely saying these things to distract a public with a short attention span, so that they don't focus on everything this administration has done in one week to dismantle our freedoms. While he's tweeting about his crowd sizes, Republicans are working clandestinely to dismantle protections for the environment, voting rights, and gay rights. But no one is paying attention. That's what Trump is all about... sowing chaos to distract from all the shit being d
  7. Beautiful, and reminiscent of her 1991 Rollingstone photoshoot and interview with Carrie Fischer.
  8. She has always experienced a disproportionate amount of hate. Her detractors continue to hate her with the kind of vitriol you rarely see directed at other artists, because first and foremost, she is defiant and refuses to let them crush her. She was so so correct when she said the most controversial thing she's done is to stick around. She will not give in and give them the satisfaction of seeing her crash and burn. Probably the ugliest and most unfair thing that has ever happened to her was when she adopted her kids form Africa. She got so much hatred for rescuing a kid who was a
  9. Fucking Candy Shop lol... She's never going to stop trying to make it happen.
  10. Vogue is classic and timeless, and she can re-conceptualize that song in a 100 different ways. When you think of Madonna, most people imagine her at her peak with Vogue.
  11. It damaged her at the time, but it is now considered a landmark artistic achievement. People now look back at that book as the pinnacle of Madonna's ability to mix art and controversy. It has only added to her myth. Madonna is indestructible because she has literally weathered every kind of career low that would have destroyed other artists, and yet she is still here.
  12. I have always loved her lower register, like in Rain. I also loved her vocal style on Express yourself, because it was so full throated and she attacked the vocals. She does seem to be in her head too much now when she's singing, and it shows on her face. In terms of live vocals, I loved the Girlie Show because she had a strong voice, although she couldn't sing with proper vibrato at all. What made up for it was her conviction and the edge in her voice.
  13. It's interesting, because her Live Nation contract ends sometime next year and she owes them another album, although she did end up signing another deal to distribute with Interscope. And W.E. was a good movie. It had problems with the story and the motivations of the characters for sure, but it did not deserve a 12% rating on rottentomatoes for sure. The critics clearly wanted to drag her because it's easy to pile on when it comes to M.
  14. Madonna is always very transparent about her influences and when she's paying tribute to another artist. Every time she's asked about something she's honest about her references.
  15. 1. Easy Ride - Amazing, beautiful song and the strings arrangement is epic, and cinematic 2. Bedtime Story 3. Inside Out 4. Devil Wouldn't Recognize You 5. Bad Girl
