Since Taylor Swift broke onto the music scene in 2009, there hasn't really been a year that couldn't be considered "the year of Taylor Swift" in some fashion.

With 2015 still riding the waves of 2014's pop masterpiece 1989, come 2016 fans were eager for some new T-Swift activity (outside of Instagram). Despite starting the year out with some serious Grammys success, the rest of Swift's 2016 was hardly music-related at all -- well, at least when it comes to her own music.

From ghostwriting to whirlwind romances, take a look back yet another year of Taylor Swift below.

She snatched her second Album of the Year Grammy

At the Feb. 16 ceremony where Swift debuted an Anna Wintour-esque bob, she further proved to be a powerhouse in her field by winning three more Grammys to add to her seven previous trophies. The most notable was her big victory in the Album of the Year category, marking her second win of the marquee award and becoming the first female artist to snag two in their career (for their own albums).

She starred in a Apple Music commercial (and took a tumble)

Apple Music got all of the attention it was looking for by enlisting the superstar for a series of ads, with the first arriving in April. Titled "Taylor Vs. Treadmill," the clip features Swift running to Drake and Future's "Jumpman" and eventually getting so lost in the tune that she completely wipes out -- to the pleasure of more than 19 million viewers.

She broke up with Calvin Harris

After more than a year of establishing themselves as one of music's power couples -- they were revealed as the highest-paid couple in the biz in June 2015 -- Swift and Harris (sometimes referred to as Talvin) apparently lost their spark and called it quits in early June 2016.

She surprised a fan at his wedding

Swift went rather quiet on Instagram following the breakup news, but broke her silence to reveal that she had surprised a fan at his wedding. She even serenaded the newlyweds and their guests with a stripped-down performance of "Blank Space."

She had a brief romance with Tom Hiddleston

Just about a month after Swifties were devastated to find out that Talvin was no more, Swift threw them for a loop when she was spotted kissing Thor actor Tom Hiddleston in Rhode Island rather out of the blue. The two seemingly had quite the fantastical romance, traveling to Europe and Australia together within the first month, but the flame fizzled after a few months.

She had her alias revealed

While Swift and Harris' breakup was publicly pretty cordial, drama surfaced weeks later over Harris' new song with Rihanna, "This Is What You Came For." Swift's rep confirmed to Billboard that she had written the song under the name Nils Sjolberg, as she feared that having both of their names on the track would take away from the music.

Harris confirmed the news on Twitter shortly after, but his reveal turned sour quickly when he called out Swift's team for trying to make him look bad. His rant didn't amount to much as Swift remained quiet, and she was officially credited as a songwriter on the track -- sans the Swedish pseudonym -- days later.

She was caught in (yet another) feud with Kanye West -- this time, including Kim Kardashian

Kardashian ignited the fire when she told GQ that Swift had approved West's controversial line "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous," from his Life of Pablo song "Famous." The 1989 singer quickly fired back declaring that she in fact did not give the okay -- but Kardashian wanted the world to know otherwise.

In a series of Snapchat videos, Kardashian rolled out a conversation that West and Swift had while TLOP was still in the works, revealing that Swift had verbally signed off on the "might still have sex" line. It didn't take long for Swift to strike back...

In the way that the "This Is What You Came For" ghostwriting ordeal halted, neither side really said much more despite the frenzy that had ensued. Billboard asked several media critics to weigh in on who "won" the feud, which you can check out here.

She signed a deal with AT&T, including a pre-Super Bowl performance

Although Swift could certainly put on her own kick-ass Super Bowl halftime show performance, it was revealed in October that she would not be following up the epic Coldplay/Bruno Mars/Beyonce team-up that took place this year -- because she's doing her own show the night before the big game.

AT&T announced a multi-year partnership with Swift, which will feature content and performances by the superstar, including the telecom company's DirecTV Super Saturday Night concert in Houston on the eve of Super Bowl LI (Feb. 4, 2017).

She gave her first full concert of 2016

By the time Swift's Super Bowl show was revealed, she hadn't delivered a live performance since she opened up the Grammys with "Out Of The Woods." But that changed on Oct. 22, when Swift took the stage at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. She performed a 15-song set to the 80,000 fans, including the rather scandalous choice of "This Is What You Came For."

She partook in the mannequin challenge

Just a few weeks after throwing Lorde a star-studded birthday party, Swift threw another squad bash for Thanksgiving, including Todrick Hall, Martha Hunt and Lily Donaldson. After sharing a series of pictures with her crew, Swift and the bunch decided to be trendy and create their own "Mannequin Challenge" video.

She got her own TV show

With no new material to be eligible for the 2017 Grammys, Swift needed some other way to look forward to the new year. So why not take things to television?

One month after Swift's deal with AT&T was revealed, the company announced that it will be unveiling a "new video experience" called Taylor Swift Now, which will feature 13 chapters of exclusive content.
