To be honest I don't really know what song would work best as the lead single, none of them scream out to me in the way that Just Dance, Bad Romance, Born This Way and Applause Marry the Night and Aura do  So I'm gonna go with John Wayne as it's probably the most instant bop on the album

Dancin' In Circles with a controversial video might've been great for comeback exposure. However, it would probably discourage the story about her aunt. 

The safest route would probably be

First single - Diamond Heart. It's basically a superior Perfect Illusion. The lyrics are expressive and tell a clear, vivid story, which would have made for a way better video, and the chorus is fun, explosive and anthemic. It's one of Joanne's best tracks and it'd be a great way to start an era.

Second single - Million Reasons just with a much better video I still think this is a good ballad. Beautiful melodies with a relatable, relatively open-ended meaning. Plus it was doing pretty well on iKoons before that damn video dropped

Third single - Dancin In Circles. To me this song screams old school Gaga. The lyrics, the beat and her vocals during the "tap down those boots" part are very 08-11. It's kinda reminiscent of Alejandro and Eh Eh. Probably why so many people like it. It's very fun and catchy. A Major Lazer remix would destroy everyone and everything

Fourth single - John Wayne. Again, this is just a super fun, catchy song. For some reason I've always imagined a colourful, psychedelic-ish music video. The choreo she has for the song is insanely good

Fifth single - Either Come To Mama or Hey Girl. Both are great songs, but I'm leaning more towards Hey Girl because a video with Florence and Gaga would slay
