Jon Bellion's most popular song All Time Low finally makes it to #1 after 38 weeks in the chart. I was surprised to find out the song hasn't been #1 before since this is my post played Jon Bellion song with 310 plays. Despite overplaying his discography for a 3rd week in a row, other songs by him climb a couple of places with new peaks and even 80's Films enters for the first time. Canadian underrated artist Scott Helman misses out from the #1 spot with Sweet Tooth debuting at #2. Finally, after Unforgettable by Thomas Rhett reached #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart last week, the song and also Craving You re-enter.

    Debut / Emotions

When Mariah debuted, her tone was very full and rounded – which was probably what lead to initial comparisons with Whitney Houston. But when it came down to it, Mariah’s vocals were very different than Whitney’s. The tone of her lower and mid chest range was husky and soulful, making her sound older than she was. This worked well for soul-inspired songs like “Vision of Love” and “If It’s Over”. Her lower and mid chest belts were technically very well-supported, resulting in great resonance and wonderful vibrato. (examples)

Mariah’s upper chest belts in this era, although seemingly technically sound, sometimes sounded tight or strained. (Grammy's '92) Mariah made little use of her head voice, ("Can't Let Go") and even rarely – or possibly never – used her falsetto. Her head voice had a similar husky tone to her chest range.

Mariah’s whistle register was extremely bright, sharp, and strong. She played around with it extensively, and showed great agility within the register. ("Someday") She often made impressive, several-octave, immediate jumps from her lower-mid chest register to her whistle register. ("Love Takes Time")

Mariah became well known for her use of melisma and her runs, which she usually contained in her chest registers.

There were few negative qualities hindering Mariah’s vocals in this era. She had not yet done extensive live work, so her voice had not been too effected. Her nodules did impact her singing on a few occasions when she was sick or overworked. ("Emotions")

    Music Box / Merry Christmas

Like before, Mariah’s vocals during this era were very full and rounded, however, her mature husky tone was replaced by a tone that was more smooth and buttery. Her lower, middle, and upper chest belts were all supported and firm. This era is often noted for its vocal precision and lack of hindrances. The new, creamy tone is often lauded and is considered one of her strongest vocal eras. This type of sound paired well with her music, which was starting to take more of a pop and R&B style.

Mariah started using her head voice and falsetto ranges slightly more. ("Dreamlover") She began to use her whistle register less, and the quality of it changed. Instead of the very sharp and clear tone of her debut, her whistles started to become a little more airy and breathy in nature; which complimented their use as musical embellishments, as opposed to being a main feature. She did not experiment with octave jumps very often, but she seemed to be able to access her whistle relatively easily.

While her voice in this era seemed to have little downfalls, it is notable that because of illness, she sounded very hoarse and strained on a few dates of her first tour – as well as some performances in 1994.

The overall tone of Mariah’s vocals did not seem to change very much between Music Box and Daydream. It retained it's silky, creamy quality. She began to exhibit strong power and resonance during a few performances that arguably rivaled her previous eras. (Madison Square Garden) She strayed away from using her lowest registers most of the time, staying mostly in her mid and upper chest registers. Mariah seemed to exhibit excellent breath control during this era as well.

It could be argued that during this era, Mariah’s upper chest belts could yet again sound somewhat tight or constrained – not as rounded or supported than her mid and lower registers.

Mariah also began to use her voice differently during this era. Although she was always known for her melisma, she expanded this to new levels during this era. She often made complicated and extensive runs that traversed her many registers – including rapidly sliding in and out of her head voice. (Tokyo Dome) Her runs were considerably quick and agile.

The Daydream Era also saw Mariah making much more use of her head and falsetto registers. ("Underneath the Stars") She often traversed into these registers during her runs and when she was riffing with older material. It had a very smooth, breathy tone, but still supported and strong.

Beyond performing older material on tour that required it, Mariah barely used her whistle during this era. Although detectable in background vocals on the album, it was never at the forefront or used live.

    Butterfly / #1s

1997 saw the first big major change to Mariah’s vocals – a change that many may consider to be a negative one. Mariah’s tone throughout her registers lost most of its smooth and silky qualities, and was replaced by a more raspy tone. The level of ‘raspiness’ or ‘hoarseness’ varied depending on performances, but it was a permanent change during this era. Mariah still exhibited control over her vocals, and although she was more prone to audible ‘breaks’ during performances, she still remained in-tune. This change also made it more difficult for Mariah to truly project. It is evident that Mariah was aware of the vocal change, as she would often pull the microphone far away from her mouth during belts to avoid amplifying this feature. One could argue that this new raspiness added a level of emotion to her vocal performances. (Patti Labelle Tribute)

Mariah’s lower and mid registers were stronger and more reliable during this era, although she still used her head voice quite often. Sometimes it was very strong ("When You Believe"); other times it was very flimsy, and her background singers had to support it. ("I Still Believe") Although she was able to accomplish it, it was obvious by her facial expressions that using her falsetto (or high head voice) was a difficult task at times. ("Butterfly")

This era saw limited to zero use of her whistle register. They were used as background vocals on Butterfly, but never at the forefront of the music. She performed whistles during her Butterfly Tour, but it could be possible that these were lip-synced.

There are a variety of reasons as to why Mariah’s vocals seemed to have changed so much by 1997. The long and difficult set-list of her Daydream Tour in 1996 overworked and wore out her vocals. She began recording her Butterfly album immediately afterwards, and the excessive use of her head and falsetto registers could have also contributed to the strain on her voice. Mariah was also going through a great deal of emotional stress with the separation from ex-husband and record label exec Tommy Mattola. The nodules on her vocal chords made her voice susceptible to such stress.

Born into the universe, engrossed in elegance, I emerge. My body, decrepit, my mind, foolish. I exist as nothing. My body swims through the currents of the ocean of submission. I exist as nothing. Friends, family, Satan, they command me to abominate and I listen. I exist as nothing. I sway to the tunes of conformity; I belt the songs of unity. I exist as nothing. My heart quivers to the melodies of allegiance, I never gamble away my name. A monster, grown and harvested for the sake of their delight, I exist as nothing. Though I can feel the light ripping at the fibers of my soul, screaming to set me free, the demons inside myself hold me in place. I exist as nothing.

Hope has faded. My fears have perished. My body, a shell, moves forward through the murk of the universe, forever soul-less. The light has died, the songs have been dampened. I cry alone. Whispers are yelled, shouts are quieted, people know my name, and yet I still know nothing. I exist as a slave. No escape in my clearest of vision, no love to be found. The vultures of fame take all of me, desperate to taste my blood that has been tainted by the alcohol of beauty. I give and do not receive. I try yet do not secure. I exist as everything.

    “Hurt People Love”

    I’m laughing through the pain

    And that hurts you

    I’m waiting out the clock

    It’s gonna work boo!

Watch the seconds turn to minutes

Hurry up hun will you finish!

You ain’t never gonna keep me down

Take a swing and it comes back around

Around on this cycle, we call love

Always chasing no matter how fast I run

I keep going, my eyes on the sun

It’s round like this cycle, we call love

    Sit down and play pretend

    He’s taking notes

    Eyes centered and don’t laugh

    It’s not a joke

    We’re both wearing masks

    Mine cause I’m sad

    And yours cause you’re glad?

You ain’t never gonna keep me down

Take a swing and it comes back around

Around on this cycle, we call love

Always chasing no matter how fast I run

I keep going, my eyes on the sun

It’s round like this cycle, we call love

    The damage is done

    Now leave me alone

    You’ve finally won

    Take your trophy and go

    But I know

    Yours feeling weren’t all show...

You ain’t never gonna keep me down

Take a swing and it comes back around

Around on this cycle, we call love

Always chasing no matter how fast I run

I keep going, my eyes on the sun

It’s round like this cycle, we call love

Like this cycle, we call love

    This cycle, we call love

Round like this cycle, we call love

    Call love

    Call love

  7. Hello. Little Mewtwonsters

A LOT has happened today and there are now THREE trailers we need to discuss as well as other little titbits from the Pokemon website. One of these trailers is in English and two are in Japanese but you really need to view all three of them to have a grip of what's going on. I'll link them below so watch them and then meet me after the jump!

Ok, so now that we're done with that. Where do we begin? Usually I'd go through each trailer one-by-one but there is SOOOO much to discuss this time. So instead, I'm going to discuss the main points first and then round off with little things from the website and the individual trailers. So strap yourselves in coz it's time for a journey through an ultra wormhole!

To the surprise of no-one with half-a-brain that's been updated on #USUM and its leaks, Team Rainbow Rocket is now confirmed. Giovanni is its leader! The team is made up of all teams from the past generations - excluding the Gamecube spin-offs. That's Giovanni, Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, Ghetsis and Lysandre. It also seems like Faba is somehow involved as the seventh member of the rainbow organisation. Giovanni and the other bosses - who allegedly come from universes where they actually completed their objectives - take over Aether Paradise, and after a breaking news segment, it's your job to stop them. Unfortunately for you, these bosses are now super-equipped with a new warehouse of traps, mega evolutions... and legendary Pokemon in their disposal; such as Giovanni using Mega Mewtwo Y.

Next up, let's look more into depth for Legendary Pokemon themselves. All past Legendary Pokemon - note, not mythicals - are now confirmed to return for Ultra Sun and Moon. Some of these are available in both games without any extra objectives (Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Regice, Regirock, Registeel, Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit, Cresselia, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion and Zygarde). Some of these are version exclusive to Ultra Sun (Ho-Oh, Raikou, Groudon, Dialga, Latios, Heatran, Reshiram, Tornadus and Xerneas) or to Ultra Moon (Lugia, Entei, Kyogre, Palkia, Latias, Regigigas, Zekrom, Thundurus and Yveltal), and the remaining legendaries are available in both games but only when you have certain specific version exclusive Pokemon in your party. These ones are Suicune (Raikou and Entei), Rayquaza (Kyogre and Groudon), Giratina (Dialga and Palkia), Landorus (Thundurus and Tornadus) and Kyurem (Reshiram and Zekrom).

But how do you find these Pokemon? Simple. You travel on Lunala or Solgaleo through the Ultra Wormhole, and just like the Ultra Beasts' own environments, the legendaries also seem to be found in their own locations reminiscent to that of the original games. It doesn't seem to be a massive environment or a fully-fledge dungeon, but it seems similar to the Ultra Space equivalents that the likes of Pheromosa and Xurkitree are now found in.  As it stands, Lugia, Giratina and Mewtwo have been seen in their own environments.

Next, let's have a look at some other old Pokemon that you can get in a new way. These ones aren't really that old; they were established last year in Sun and Moon; Totem Pokemon. That's right, in Ultra Sun and Moon, you can now gain access to these Totem Pokemon. Instead of Zygarde Cells, this year, you are tasked with finding Totem Stickers which are scattered around Alola. And the more of these stickers that you collect, the more Totem Pokemon that you can unlock for use. So far, Gumshoos is available in both games while Lurantis is exclusive to Ultra Sun and Salazzle is exclusive to Ultra Moon. Interestingly, it appeared that Salazzle is no longer a Totem Pokemon in this game as Alolan Marowak is now the Totem at Wela Volcano Park, so either totems from both games are included or some other Pokemon who weren't previously totems will also have totem forms!

Now, let's look at something else that people have been asking for, for a very long time; the return of the Battle Factory. While not a direct copy of the Battle Factory, Ultra Sun and Moon have introduced us to a new facility; the Battle Agency. This facility allows you to rent Pokemon and battle in single battle style against opponents. Each player will use three Pokemon. These Pokemon will have pre-determined stats, movesets and items. By battling through the agency, you can battle other unique characters - like Sophocles - and earn rare items - such as gold bottle caps. As you continue battling, you will earn more powerful Pokemon to use and eventually earn a higher grade. In addition, this feature allows - and is encouraged - for multi-player use. By connecting with other agents online, you'll be able to rent even more powerful Pokemon.

Now, with the main reveals out of the way, let's look at some of the other changes we've seen so far for Ultra Sun and Moon. Firstly, let's begin with the English trailer. The only other thing here to note is that new Island Scan Pokemon are set to appear. From what we've seen so far, these include Charmander, Grovyle and Greninja!

Moving onto the Japanese trailer there's a lot of little things here. We get some new footage of Lusamine dangerously close to an Ultra Wormhole and still looking rather sinister. In the post-game episode, it seems like Team Skull's leader Guzma is helping you against Rainbow Rocket. It also shows a confrontation between the player, Lillie, Guzma, Lusamine and the members of the Ultra Recon Squad at the altar of the Sunne or Moone. Finally, the bottom screen menu in Ultra Sun and Moon looks a lot more exciting than it did in the original releases!

Ok, so that's all from me for today! It's only fifteen more days until Ultra Sun and Moon releases, and actually, I'm pleased - and surprised - to say that we'll have even more information coming in 8 days time; on November the 10th (5am UTC). If I had to guess, I'd say New Alola Forms and the 2nd battle facility will be revealed along with a few more Z-Moves. See ya then Lil Lusamines.

  9. Doctor Strange and Mr. Fantastic (these are somewhat old and you can't take them out of the box without cutting it open, so I won't be doing so)

The Shadow (debated getting the regular version or the Lamont Cranston/Alec Baldwin one that turns into the Shadow, landed on the former). Again, not gonna open it.

Batman (1989) blast shield (action figure included) and Batwing, still boxed.

Movie-based Dick Tracy toys that I had wanted for a really long time, and was lucky to find for very cheap (Dick Tracy, Big Boy Caprice, Flattop).

    And this doll.

    Ultimate Thor and AoU Hulk.

    Black Widow and Lady Deathstrike.

    And the Penguin.

  11. I haven't talked about this much before, but after everything that's been going on in the news I feel compelled to share my own story. I want to preface this by saying that it isn't my intention to derail the #MeToo movement, which is primarily about abuse and harassment perpetrated by men and women's solidarity and I hope that this doesn't come off as whataboutism since I'm a guy and one of my stories involves a girl.

I was sitting in chorus class in eighth grade. At this point in my education all of my friends had dropped out of chorus, so I was the last one left and I was pretty much a loner in there. In between songs, our teacher took a break and let the class talk to their friends for a few minutes. This girl who had previously always winked at me and brushed up against me creepily approached me, and started by touching my leg and then began working her way up until she was in my lap and touching my dick through my pants and humping me. She was saying all kinds of perverted things and gave me this evil look in her eye which told me that she knew exactly what she was doing and she was going to get away with it, and I tried to fight her off (slapping her and trying to throw her off of myself) but she wouldn't let go and kept laughing. She even tried to take off my pants. She was really strong despite her size, but looking back I think I was afraid to do any serious damage even in self-defense because she was a girl and it would look bad if I hurt her. Almost everyone else was busy doing their own thing and talking to their friends so they didn't even notice, except for a few people who were watching. They thought it was funny and didn't even try to help me. The part that hurt the most was that it was in broad daylight in a room full of people, and hardly anyone noticed and none of those who did cared or asked if I was okay.

Our chorus class was a split block with a lunch break in between, so I had lunch at the same time as this girl and she followed me around for the next few days and tried to make me feel uncomfortable. It seemed like she was everywhere I looked, with those creepy eyes and that smile. She even said a few times that she had a surprise for me (thank god I never found out what it was). I ended up staying a few minutes after class one day and telling our teacher that this girl kept following me, and even though I was trying to keep it together I ended up crying but didn't reveal what really happened. My teacher could tell that there were more details I wasn't sharing with her but she didn't ask any questions. I ended up quitting chorus later that week because I "wasn't interested anymore," even though I loved to sing. I told my friends, my family, my teacher, and my guidance counselor the same thing and no one questioned it.

There were a few reasons why I never said anything. First of all, this girl was a special needs student so I thought people would excuse it by saying she didn't know any better and she didn't know what she was doing...which is complete bullshit, because I saw it in her eyes. She was one hundred percent aware of what was going on and lived for the fact that she made me feel embarrassed and powerless and would get away with it because she wouldn't be held accountable even if I were to say something. Also, male victims of sexual harassment tend to face ridicule and are made fun of for not wanting it. They're told that they must be gay for not wanting to get laid, and not that being gay is a bad thing but it's not a good label to have in middle school where kids will bully you for it. People already teased me for being fruity, and coming forward with this just would have made it worse. I also felt like what happened "wasn't bad enough," because I never got drugged and raped or anything like that. I've never called it assault and I've always considered it harassment, but truthfully I don't know where one draws the line. Even the online friends I've confided in about this thought the mental image of a special needs girl humping me in the middle of chorus class was funny and didn't seem too concerned about how I felt or thought it was that serious. And lastly, there were rumors that she herself was being raped by her grandfather and I didn't want her to get in trouble if she might have been an abuse victim herself.

The next time, I was 16 and working at my first job. It was at an amusement park and I operated kiddie rides. There were two new employees one day, and they set off my gaydar. They were in their early/mid 20s, and after their very first shift the taller, younger one came up behind me while I was clocking out for the day and whispered "Hey Hermione" right in my ear in this flop trying-to-be-seductive-but-coming-off-as-extremely-creepy deep voice. I probably jumped up several inches because it completely took me by surprise. When I did, I saw that he was winking. I replied "Hi" in a shaky voice because saying hi back is my natural reflex and then I bolted out of there. Once again, this was in a room full of people and nobody noticed.

I later started hearing rumors that they lived together and were secretly engaged, and even though they didn't talk about their relationship at work it was obvious that they were a couple. Since they ran the adult rides I barely saw them except for pre and post-shift (when they always stared at me, with looks I couldn't tell were dirty or aroused), until one day when my assigned ride was on the border between the kiddie and adult rides. The shorter, older one was operating the one right next to me, and after an hour of no interactions he walked over to the fence between our rides when our side of the park was empty and we had no customers. This was about two months after they started working there, and I was now newly 17. Between customers he would come over and ask me questions like how old I was, what school I went to, what some of my hobbies were, and finally officially introduced himself. We gossiped a little bit about the place too, and he told me that he trained our manager on his very first ride years ago and decided to come back this year since he moved back to the area.

The questions eventually turned to my sexuality, which were obviously making me uncomfortable especially since he had asked my age and knew I was a minor. The age of consent is 17 here, but I still felt like it was inappropriate for this 23 year old man I barely knew to be asking me this stuff especially since I was still in high school and looked like a little boy. He also said that all the other guys who worked there were ugly, including my friends, and that I was the only cute one. He kept leaving and going to the fence on the other side of his ride where his boyfriend was working (the one who whispered in my ear), and I got the feeling he was reporting my answers back to him and they were planning something. They kept looking over at me with lust in their eyes. Eventually he asked if I would want to come home with them after work and hang out (presumably for a threesome), and my heart started racing. I said no and he looked really offended and then asked why, and I said, with my voice shaking, "Don't you think I'm too young to be hanging out with you guys?" and he didn't really say anything else. Another one of my coworkers eventually came over to my ride while the guy was busy, and I told her everything while holding back tears. She wasn't that busy that day so she agreed to stay with me for the rest of my shift, because I knew he wouldn't try to talk to me again if someone else was there to hear it.

I wrote an email to our boss saying what happened, but I never had the courage to send it. It sat in my drafts for a few weeks, and I finally decided against it and deleted it. 17 is the age of consent so flirting with me was technically legal even if I was still a minor, and they backed off once I wasn't interested. Not to mention that I doubted my managers would even believe my story, since he had history with them and I was just a kid at my first job. I told my coworkers and it turned into the hot gossip at work (and again, treated like a joke rather than something that actually messed with me) but it never made its way to the managers, and a year later I found out that they tried the same thing with my friend and even told him that he was the only cute one and the rest of us were ugly. I told him what happened at the time, but he never confessed that they tried hooking up with him too until a text much later on. Apparently they messaged him on Facebook too, and he was still 16 at the time. We walked everywhere together at work after that, because we were both afraid of being alone around these guys. The worst part of this story is that I have the older guy's Twitter, and around the Kesha trial he was tweeting all of this stuff about how horrible Dr. Luke is despite being creepy and preying on underage boys himself. I never told my family about this because they're pretty homophobic, and I didn't want it to add to their negative image of gay people.

I still know all three of their names, both the girl from middle school and the gay couple from my old job, and I could expose them if I wanted but I have this weird desire to protect them from the consequences for some reason even though they deserve it. I'm fine now and don't have any long-term issues from either instance, but it sucks so much that I'm made to feel like I'm overreacting for this stuff because it's "not as bad" as other cases people have spoken up about. Whenever I think about them I tend to second-guess myself and wonder if my feelings are justified and that I'm not just being oversensitive or a drama queen. Anyway, I know this doesn't really have an inspiring message but I just needed to get it out because I'm sick of bottling it up. I don't need your pity nor your assessment of whether this was "real" sexual harassment.

Writing a toy review was something I always wanted to try, so this is something I'm doing more for myself rather than something I think anyone here will have a great interest in jj2 But here we go...

This one is OK, certainly a better likeness of Gal Gadot than the BvS version (which was a total butterface and barely even looks like a woman, frankly), but on the other hand the paint apps are really inconsistent - the skin tone on her legs, her chest and her face/arms are all totally different, and now her neck looks way too thick for her body. I do love that they made her lasso a detachable accessory instead of just a molded-on part of her belt, though. I think I still prefer the BvS equivalent overall, but here they are together for comparison.

This one I really like. I appreciate that Mattel went with Batman's alternate "tactical" suit instead of just the same thing from BvS again (which they did do for the Suicide Squad line and got a lot of shit for, so way to learn!). All his new gear is nicely molded, but I'm not crazy about the fact that they went with a cheap cloth cape instead of rubber this time around. And on the likeness, I don't think it looks explicitly unlike Ben Affleck, but it could pretty much be anybody. It's slightly better than the BvS version (which this mold is clearly based on) in that regard, and probably actually a bit worse than the Daredevil toy from well over ten years ago rip2

The one on the left being the new version and the right being BvS, I definitely prefer the latter. Both look decently like Jason Momoa, but I like the tattooed paint apps and color scheme of the BvS version better, and the articulation isn't as stiff. The worst thing about the new one is his right hand, which is way too loose and it takes some doing to get the trident in his hand in any effective way.

This one is definitely my favorite in this whole line. Completely new mold, solid likeness of Ezra Miller, articulation isn't stiff. Good job, Mattel!

Well, I don't know that this one looks especially like Ray Fisher (not that his star has risen enough for him to be recognizable yet anyway), but along with the Flash I think it has the best articulation out of any of the figures in this line. Not a critique of the toy really, but I don't really like how much of his body is robotic rip2 I mean, he's supposed to be a cyborg, not pretty much a robot with a 60% flesh face. Obviously though, that flaw lies with the film's costume designers. He also has an alternate hand, or rather a sonic cannon, which is pretty cool.

This one is the absolute worst rip2 And that sucks considering Superman is one of my favorite characters. Like...just look at this likeness...

He looks NOTHING like Henry Cavill, and what's with the creepy glass eyes? I don't even know how they managed to make it this much worse than the BvS version; with the terrible face and the cheap cape, it isn't even close. And worst of all, my toy has TWO RIGHT HANDS! What the fuck, man...?

Here's the way better BvS version.

This one is the build-a-figure, and...it's OK. Certainly isn't the worst one Mattel has ever done, and it's a logical character choice. He's detailed nicely enough and I like his axe, but he suffers from the worst stiffness of any of them; when I tried to move his arm at all after putting it on, I thought I was gonna break the fucking thing...

  12. DsrsG28.gif

Completely unrelated to the entry btw, I just love Jeongyeon with all of my heart and wanted a cute gif to start with.

To cut straight to the point, for the next 31 days I'll be updating this with one new song, not entirely sure why I'm doing this, perhaps just for the kiis of my few months older self finding this and cackling at my current taste, whatever. I'll try to keep it at least half Western/non-Asian so no need to worry about finding exclusively generic, manufactured music you cannot understand here. Hope someone reads it and maybe finds something for themselves too. Also this could probably be posted in Music Mania but I don't want to pollute other sections, this blog is called unwanted opinions trademark sign for a reason.

Day 1: Kanye West - Guilt Trip // One of Ye's most underrated songs and quite possibly top 5 in his entire discography for me. Immaculate production and the mysterious, heavily edited yet enticing chorus are what grabbed my attention at first and after 4 years I still find them just as thrilling and exciting.

Day 2: Prince - Lovesexy (starts at 25:14 because he's extra and "artistic vision!!1") // Despite not being hailed as a masterpiece quite as much as Purple Rain or Sign o' the Times, Lovesexy is just as good as its predecessors. It's Prince at the end of his creativity peak and he ended it with a bang - a record that's fun, carefree, sensual but also varied and ambitious. Its title track embodies all that - and more - in a perfect way.

Day 3: Kelela - LMK // The entire album is great (stream here or, even better, buy there) but nothing has quite topped this for me, def top 10 songs of the year material.

Day 4: (BP) Rania - Style // Classy... sexy... crazy COUTURE...

Day 5: St. Vincent - Los Ageless // Her album is sahfjajas amazing and while the closer is probably currently my favourite, I just cannot stop replaying this pre-release single.

Day 6: Grizzly Bear - Morning Sound // Can't think of anything to say but I really love this sing xoxo.

Day 7: The National - Abel // As much as I like their recent album, it doesn't have a song which would live up to their greatest achievements, such as this one.

Day 8: Taemin - Move // At first listen this came off as really stale and uninteresting to me but started working in the context of the more laid back, subtle album. Unlike a lot of his previous songs, whether solo or as a part of SHINee, it doesn't pop off instantly and instead creeps up on the listener more with each repetiton of the chorus.

Day 9: DIA - My Friend's Boyfriend // After Eunice threw the first brick at Stonewall, she rode her minion to the studio to record this LGBT anthem, quite a productive day for her, I'd say.

Day 10: A.C.E - Callin' // This is esentially the exact same song as their last comeback Cactus, only this time they actually had some budget for the music video and didn't do a gaybait. Normally I'd be mad but Cactus was such an excellent track that for once I don't mind it.

Day 11: Beck - Colors // Although I've never really cared too much for Beck, this album was quite disappointing for me, especially considering how strong this opening track is. Nothing else managed to live up to it, unfortunately.

Day 12: Queens of the Stone Age - If I Had a Tail // I was reserving this spot for Jessie Ware but having heard her poor excuse of an album, I'm not even gonna entertain the idea of giving it more attention. This was somehow the first song which came to my mind otherwise and whew, it still goes off.

Day 13: Junho - Instant Love // How he managed to make Sana not annoying here, I will never know. The album version with additional verse is better btw but the video just has such a gorgeous aesthetic and therefore I'm linking this.

Day 14: Robert Plant - Heaven Sent // Something about is just really moody and atmospheric and I'm really feeling it right now.

Day 15: Epik High - Love Story // I'm kind of in awe that with all odds stacked against them (a k hip hop release under YG Entertainment? you could just ask to get punched in the face) Epik High managed to come up with one of the better Korean albums I've listened to this year. This was my fave, a really lovely song, even if carried mostly by IU's mellow vocal performance.

Day 16: The Horrors - Hologram // Their new album is the 12th best record of the year according to metacritic so you should obviously listen to it now xoxoxo this sing might have my favourite guitar solo of the year too?

Day 17: Fleetwood Mac - Dreams // Once every few months I like to remind myself how Rumours is one of the best albums of all time and how Dreams is one of the best songs of all time. Today is that day.

Day 18: Mariah Carey - Candy Bling // I feel like Sylk would have a heart attack if I didn't post it so for once I'll be a nice friend THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME, WHITNEY IS ROLLING IN HER GRAVE, NO OTHER VOCALIST COULD EVER DELIEVER SUCH A STUNNING PERFORMANCE ETC. ETC. SKINNY LEGEND QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE.

Day 19: Eluveitie - King // Won't be able to update tomorrow at all but I'm going to see them live so I'll just assume their best song will be my song of the day <3

Day 20: Espers - Rosemary Lane // Heard it by accident today and am love, it's otherworldly beautiful.

Day 21: Oguogu (2/9 of gugudan) - Ice Chu // This is honestly just really fun, upbeat and never fails to cheer me up. The wind instruments give it such an adorable edge.

Day 22: Twice - Rollin' // As a hater-turned-Jeongyeon-akgae-turned-minor-fan I was expecting more from their new album, it feels rather empty and hollow BUT just as I was about to give up, this snatched me bald, by far and away the best album track of their career and second-best song overall.

Day 23: Nightwish - Scaretale // Happy Halloween!

Day 24: Ariel Pink - Feels like Heaven // This has been out for a while now but my lazy ass didn't bother until today and it just so happened to fit my mood perfectly.

Day 25: The Doors - Break on Through (To the Other Side) // If there is anything my father taught me taste-wise, it would, above all, be The Doors' love. This song just brings so many good memories, I needed it today.

Day 26: Ame No Parade - You // Yes.

    Day 27: The Cure - A Forest // Dedicated to a long-time-no-see friend whom I finally met today <3

Day 28: Faith No More - Easy // This was used in a random commercial I stumbled upon today and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. Not that I'm complaining.

Day 29: Anderson .Paak - Lite Weight // Because black excellence.

Day 30: Camila Cabello - Havana // I'm a petty fag who went out of his way to avoid this for the longest simply because I could not imagine myself even entertaining the idea of enjoying a Fifth Harmony-related song... and yet here we are. Her voice is still disgusting btw.

Day 31: Laboum - Hwi hwi // It's just so happy and as tacky as whistling hooks are, they just don't go out of style.

Shocked I actually got it to the end, I was pretty sure I'd give up halfway through and there were days I genuinely forgot about it and had to update twice the next one but we're here, I guess. Thanks to everyone who viewed and commented, means a lot xo.

    Week Three Summary

Seven songs from last week return for this weeks chart. After two weeks, Zayn has finally been dethroned from number one as his song, Dusk Till Dawn, drops to number four. The number one spot is taken by a new entry, Demi Lovato's new song, Sexy Dirty Love. Little Mix maintain their spot at number two with Private Show, however Love Me Like You continues to fall and lands at number seven this week. Katy Perry is definitely having a good week on the chart as she has three songs appear this week. Witness rises seven spots and lands at number three, Roulette rises three spots and lands at number 5, and Dark Horse makes its debut at number thirteen. Ariana Grande has two songs on the chart this week as Thinking Bout You falls four spots and lands at number ten and her collab with Cashmere Cat, Quit, debuts at number six. Astrid S continues to cling on for dear life as her feature on the Blonde song, Just For One Night, debuts at number 15. Will next week be the first week without an Astrid S song? I guess we'll find out!

  14. So over the past year, especially since the Witness era started, the question I hear a lot on and offline is "why are you a fan of Katy Perry?" I could give you the cliche answer and give you videos of how she really does have vocal talent and sales and yada yada but let me just give you the real reason why I would dare stan someone as "problematic!!1!1!" as Ms. Katy Perry.

Her music means the world to me. When people are out there calling her music trash or horrible or just flat out making fun of it, it does hurt my heart a bit since her music has helped me get through a lot of hard times in my life. When Teenage Dream was released, I was just a freshman in high school. I had my small group of friends but I still felt like a huge outsider. I remember going home, turning on my iPod Touch and blasting Teenage Dream, ET, Pearl, The One That Got Away and Not Like The Movies. Those were my five favorites off of the album btw. Even though two of those songs are more on the sadder side, they still found a way to cheer me up when I was having a bad day. Those bad days were pretty much every day. I would watch her interviews and performances and her off beat personality always put a smile on my face. To this day, I remember watching her TOTGA performance on The X Factor and just falling in love.

Prism was released my senior year and much of the same happened. I ADORED that album. I would find every excuse to listen to it. I even got in trouble during class because I tried to hide one of my ear buds and listen to Ghost in class. By this time I had found my niche in school and things were a lot better for me, but I still had my bad days and Katy still found a way to make it all better with her music.

Now lets get to Witness. This summer was a really rough summer for me. There was some serious family stuff that I was having to deal with, and it all hit the fan during a family vacation. I remember sitting in the pool, alone, and just singing Witness in my head. To be more specific, the bridge. To many, this album aged like milk and they never even listen to it. People say it gives them cancer, that the album is shit, Katy's a flop, etc. But when I was at my worst these past few months, Witness was able to take my mind off of things for a short while and take me to Katy's world a bit. This album means the absolute world to me, as does all of the songs on the album.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Obviously I know people aren't going to like Katy and the material she releases. I'm not saying you have to. But the next time you ask "why do you stan _______?" maybe remember that this artist holds a special place in that persons heart. I'll always love Katy and I will always support her, no matter what she does, who she marries, what her music is like. Katy, Ariana, Little Mix, all of my faves have helped me in ways that people just couldn't. So for that, I am eternally grateful to them and will always love them.
