04. Madonna - Madame X
Madonna is willing to try something new again, but this album had too many ideas. She should have been selective a bit and ditched the autotune. It isn't flawless or one of Madonna's best albums, but it is a decent album and actually one of the most interesting and creative. It definitely seems underrated when critics overrated some other basic pop albums.
Highlights: Medellin, God Control, Crave.
03. Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell!
Probably a little bit overrated, because critics acted like this was the first great album by Lana.
Highlights: Mariners Apartment Complex, California, Cinnamon Girl.
02. Shura - Forevher
While the debut was all about the 80s, this album is closer to the 90s. Some songs still have that 80s vibe, but that doesn't mean Shura recycled the old sound. She evolved. The production is polished, while the lyrics are introspective. The album evokes the 90s r'n'b scene (Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson).
Highlights: Religion, Forever, Skyline.
01. Bat for Lashes - Lost Girls
The best album by Bat for Lashes imo. The album is inspired by the 80s - music and cinema, the artists such as Bananarama, Cyndi Lauper and The Blue Nile, and film composer John Williams. Some songs are typical 80s synthpop, while other songs are dreamy, nostalgic and melancholic, with subtle 80s synths.
Highlights: Feel For You, Desert Man, So Good.
