Annoying TV Characters

Usually the most annoying characters are the ones who are dumb as fuck, but there are always exceptions.

Also, after watching the same shows more times, I noticed how some of those main characters can also be annoying.

Hyacinth Bucket  is a main character in Keeping Up Appearances, a British comedy series. She might be annoying, but she is a brilliant character.

Wiki: Hyacinth Bucket  who insists her surname is pronounced Bouquet (although in reality,  is an over-bearing, social-climbing snob, originally from a poor working-class background, whose main mission in life is to impress others with her lifestyle and perceived affluence and refinement. She's terrified that her background will be revealed, and goes to great lengths to hide it. Hyacinth likes to spend her days visiting stately homes (convinced she will meet and strike up a friendship with the upper class owners, especially if they are aristocratic) and hosting "executive-style" candlelight suppers.

Joey Tribbiani (Friends)

With every season, Joey was dumber and dumber. The weirdest thing was one or two episodes where Joey knew some interesting facts, while other superior characters didn't.

Lorelai and Rory (Gilmore Girls)

Great show, but they can be really exhausting. Lorelai, instead of acting like an adult, can be very childish, while Rory, who is a good girl, can be a bitch.

Will & Grace

Will was always the responsible and mature one, but there are a lot of moments where he acted like a baby and was a hypocrite. Grace...what a lazy and stupid  bitch. Shut your holes.

Marie-everybody-loves-raymond-31079432-3

Marie Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond)

Wiki: Intrusive, controlling, manipulative and over-nurturing (at least with Raymond), she is a housewife who excels in cooking, cleaning, and other things dealing with keeping a good home and family.

She is usually a bitch to Debra, Raymond's wife.

Eric Forman (That '70s Show)

An ordinary geek-ish boy. Seems like a good guy, but sometimes he was such an asshole to his girlfriend Donna and his family.

michael-kelso-ashton-kutcher-that-70s-sh

Michael Kelso (That '70s Show)

Dumb, superficial, no manners, childish...

Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)

Very intelligent and weird geek, but at the same time very stupid because he doesn't understand life and people. He acts like a baby. The worst part of the show are other characters who let him get away with it.

Agree with all of these sia2

Especially Sheldon Cooper, him or the girlfriend (I can't remember her name) aren't exactly the best characters. But it's The Big Bang Theory, and that show is pretty much a cringe fest, so it's to be expected.

I agree with some, not all. The reason being some characters feel natural while others feel forced and exaggerated and because they're forced and exaggerated  they become annoying.

Gilmore Girls, although they seem like a real life single mom and daughter relationship, the stupidity of Lorelai is too much. She acts like she doesn't know anything and her daughter has to run her life for her. Seems like what could be a sequal to this movie:

Shelton, also, severely exaggerated to the point that it feels like a high school play gone wrong. Nobody is THAT dumb. Him needing assistance in the smallest most obvious situations gets annoying, especially considering he's smart in other fields.

Eric Forman and Mari Barone seem like very realistic characters that exist in our everyday life. I don't think they're annoying for that reason alone. They represent people that act like them in real life, and ART has to mirror LIFE, that's the beauty and that's the whole point of ART. The shows that they're on, however, especially That 70's Show, are very exaggerated and many could find the show in general annoying because of that reason, I personally don't.

Joey from Friends. this one seems like in the middle. He's exaggerated, but charming at the same time. You enjoy him even when he's being a dick to his friends or dumping a girl. He seems like a genuine person with no tact or class and less brain-cells than a watermelon. But maybe it's all an act? If you saw his spin-off show "Joey" you'd know that he's smarter than he acted around his "friends" and maybe his dumb act is like when girls do the dumb blonde act, to attract a certain type of woman. Either way, he's tolerable despite his idiocy, is what I mean.

@Taylor The Big Bang Theory is like if stone-age men found a time-travelling hot tub:

And got in and came to the 21st Century, and were somehow allowed to attend university right away for free (as an experiment) and majored in Physics and Chemistry, and became obsessed with studying them for months indoors until they were able to make their own concepts.

Suddenly they left their rooms for the first time to interact with 21st century humans. Then they started shooting season 1 of BBT. rih9whit1

I love Amy. gaga13

I think Sheldon is an interesting character in general, but the creators are going too far with him.

Agree, Eric and Marie are very realistic characters. Great too. Eric can be annoying, but only if you watch the show more times. sia2 In general, he isn't one of those annoying characters who do the same shit in every episode like some other characters. lj1

Joey was tolerable from time to time and even cute. jj2

I love friends. They're the gang that you'd see somewhere and u wish you're part of them, but you'd know they'd reject you so u watch them silently.  ny10

Big Bang Theory is the gang you'd secretly film and post on youtube with a title "Nerd Fail". dead7

How I Met Your Mother is the gang you'd watch for 2 seconds, then call them basic vanilla and look at something else. ew1

And Seinfeld is the gang you'd love to see on screen, but in real life you'd run the other way asap. rip3ny4

This is hard. eve1  Some characters I like can also be annoying, like Monica with her cleaning obsession.

6. Joey

5. Ross

4. Rachel

3. Monica

2. Chandler

1. Phoebe

The top 4 changes. lj1

Damn this is extremely hard so I'll make my list with the best traits I love:

#1 Phoebe: Literally anything she does makes me crack up especially her guitar originals. #SmellyCat rip3 The awkward vibe she gives when discussing that Ross dream that never happened or when she met her dad for the 1st time and there was this weird sexual tension almost incestuous moment was dead1.

#2 Monica: Something about her is soooooo real and relatable. The fact that she's actually a mess inside but everyone thinks she's so successful is hilarious. Her cleaning obsession is her thing, it's only annoying if u imagine living with her, but watching her on a show it actually added so much comedy when they mess the house. The fun fact about MONICA (AND CHANDLER) IS HOW 3 DIMENSIONAL THEY BOTH ARE, WHEREAS THE OTHER 4 ARE 2 DIMENSIONAL (we only know the surface level of Phoebe and Joey and one layer underneath for Rachel and Ross' relationship). The amazing buildup of Monica being a complete clean freak for like 4 seasons before revealing her very dirty secret of that room she has in her apartment was BRILLIANT! dead7

#3 Chandler: Effortless comedy. Very realistic. The backstory is one of the best parts of the show, His lines are always the best next to phoebe.

#4 Rachel: When she gets angry. dead2 And her turbulent relationship with Ross. The "Onagi" episode. dead1

#5 Ross: His whole career life as a professor and any scene where he's not with the others is always a hit for me, he reminds me of a more handsome Mr. Bean. dead4 The whole thing with the British ex-wife, and the lesbian ex-wife.... the fact that she left him for the girl that he suggested they have a threesome with. dead1

#6: Joey: One dimensional obviously but hilarious interaction with Chandler. I love that Joey was part of the Charlie's Angels movies and that he was consistent with the character and that he's a movie star. aretha1

I love friends I just haven't sat down and watched it in years. eve1

Omg Monica's relationship with her narcissistic mom is so much tea on my life. ahs1
