Welcome to a new entry in the 'My Pokemon Gym' series. This series allows me to post about my potential life as a gym leader; showcasing the Pokemon I would use at different stages of battle. We'll do these in order from my favorite to least-favorite type. For this particular entry, I'll be showcasing my talents as a master of Rock-type Pokemon. So please sit back, and comment below! For those unsure on the series in general, I've outlined background information and the rules for the series in this following blog-post:

Gym #1

Kabuto | Level 14 | Battle Armor | Rock Tomb, Scratch, Harden, Absorb
Lileep | Level 16 | Suction Cups | Rock Tomb, Acid, Ingrain, Confuse Ray

Favorite TM: Rock Tomb

Gym Leader Comment: For the first gym in a region, it needs to be easy but challenging. This rock-type gym makes you throw everything you know about battling Rock-type gyms that appear first in a region; where you'd originally spam water or grass moves. While grass moves deal with Kabuto easily, they're not great on Lileep. Stick to fighting-type moves if you have them but watch out for confuse ray and defense boosts.

Gym #2

Kabuto | Level 22 | Battle Armor | Rock Tomb, Scratch, Mud Shot, Sand-Attack
Lileep | Level 24 | Suction Cups | Acid, Ingrain, Ancient Power, Brine

Favorite TM: Rock Tomb

Gym Leader Comment: By the second gym, you should begin to have a much more varied team. And Kabuto has a varied movepool; utilising Sand Attack to troll and annoy. Mud Shot is also used for opposing Steel-types. Lileep then incomes and replaces Rock Tomb for Ancient Power. Also gaining Brine which can be dangerous in certain situations.

Gym #3

Kabuto | Level 27 | Battle Armor | Rock Tomb, Scratch, Mud Shot, Sand-Attack
Amaura | Level 25 | Refrigerate | Rock Tomb, Take-Down, Thunder Wave, Aurora Beam
Lileep | Level 29 | Suction Cups | Acid, Ancient Power, Brine, Giga Drain

Favorite TM: Rock Tomb

Gym Leader Comment: At the third gym, the threat increases from two Pokemon to three. The new addition here is the Rock and Ice-type Amaura. Tragically weak to fighting and steel, Amaura can be a bit of a surprise with an annoying Thunder Wave along with amazingly high-powered Refrigerate Take-Down. Lileep gains a new toy in the form of Giga Drain.

Gym #4

Kabuto | Level 34 | Battle Armor | Rock Slide, Mud Shot, Sand-Attack, Aqua Jet
Amaura | Level 31 | Refrigerate | Take-Down, Thunder Wave, Aurora Beam, Ancient Power
Cradily | Level 35 | Suction Cups | Ancient Power, Brine, Giga Drain, Gastro Acid

Favorite TM: Rock Slide

Gym Leader Comment: A new TM is awarded; Rock Slide. A decent Rock-type move but like most of these moves, a bit low on the accuracy side. It also has a flinch chance. Kabuto gains Aqua Jet here to outspeed and take down threats. Amaura gains Ancient Power in an attempt to boost her stats. Finally Lileep evolves into Cradily and gains Gastro Acid to toy with opponents relying on their ability.

Gym #5

Kabutops | Level 36 | Battle Armor | Rock Slide, Mud Shot, Sand-Attack, Aqua Jet
Archen | Level 33 | Defeatist | Double Team, Ancient Power, Acrobatics, Dragon Breath
Amaura | Level 34 | Refrigerate | Thunder Wave, Aurora Beam, Ancient Power, Avalanche
Cradily | Level 37 | Suction Cups | Ancient Power, Brine, Giga Drain, Amnesia

Favorite TM: Rock Slide

Gym Leader Comment: Archen is added to the roster here. Utilising Acrobatics as its move of choice. I decided to not give it Rock Slide too just because I feel it would be a bit too challenging for now. Instead it gets Ancient Power and Double Team because i'm still slightly evil. Cradily boosts her sp.Def now with Amnesia. Finally Kabuto evolves into Kabutops giving it a more useful purpose on the team.

Gym #6

Kabutops | Level 40 | Battle Armor | Rock Slide, Sand-Attack, Aqua Jet, Slash
Archen | Level 38 | Defeatist | Double Team, Ancient Power, Acrobatics, Crunch
Amaura | Level 38 | Refrigerate | Thunder Wave, Aurora Beam, Ancient Power, Avalanche
Cradily | Level 41 | Suction Cups | Ancient Power, Brine, Giga Drain, Amnesia

Favorite TM: Rock Slide

Gym Leader Comment: A few small changes here. Kabutops replaces the useless Mud Shot for Slash for neutral damage, and Archen replaces Dragon Breath for the more powerful Crunch. That's all.

Gym #7

Kabutops | Level 45 | Battle Armor | Sandstorm, Rock Slide, Aqua Jet, Slash
Archen | Level 44 | Defeatist | Double Team, Acrobatics, Crunch, U-Turn
Aurorus | Level 44 | Refrigerate | Sandstorm, Thunder Wave, Ancient Power, Nature Power
Cradily | Level 47 | Suction Cups | Sandstorm, Ancient Power, Brine, Energy Ball

Favorite TM: Sandstorm

Gym Leader Comment: A new TM is now ushered in; Sandstorm. Sandstorm is a move that sets up Sand weather for five turns - eight with a smooth rock. This sand allows rock-types to take 50% less damage from special attacks. This move is added to Kabutops, Cradily and Amaura; who has now evolved into Aurorus. Aurorus gains Nature Power, Cradily gains Energy Ball and Archen gains U-Turn here.

Gym #8

Aerodactyl | Level 50 | Pressure | Sandstorm, Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, Wing Attack
Kabutops | Level 53 | Battle Armor | Sandstorm, Rock Slide, Aqua Jet, Slash
Archeops | Level 52 | Defeatist | Acrobatics, Crunch, U-Turn, Rock Slide
Aurorus | Level 52 | Refrigerate | Sandstorm, Thunder Wave, Ancient Power, Nature Power
Cradily | Level 55 | Suction Cups | Sandstorm, Ancient Power, Brine, Energy Ball

Favorite TM: Sandstorm

Gym Leader Comment: The final Gym team tests trainers to the extreme. The final Pokemon added here is none other than the amazing Aerodactyl. Pressuring its haters while it sets up the sand, Aerodactyl threatens opponents with Wing Attack while utilising Thunder or Fire Fangs for coverage. The other major change here is the evolution of Archen into Archeops. Finally, it gains Rock Slide to smash through opponents.

Gym Rematch

Archeops | Level 69 | Defeatist | Acrobatics, U-Turn, Earthquake, Knock Off
Corsola | Level 67 | Regenerator | Recover, Toxic, Light Screen, Reflect
Kabutops | Level 65 | Battle Armor | Aqua Jet, Stone Edge, Swords Dance, Waterfall
Aurorus | Level 65 | Refrigerate | Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Sandstorm, Hyper Voice
Cradily | Level 68 | Storm Drain | Giga Drain, Sludge Wave, Recover, Stealth Rock
Aerodactyl (M) | Level 70 | Pressure | Aerial Ace, Roost, Stone Edge, Iron Head

Gym Leader Comment: The Gym-Leader rematch is meant to become the ultimate test of a Pokemon-type. Archeops leads this rematch team. Fair bit of warning; if you are not prepared, this thing WILL sweep you. Acrobatics is ready to destroy. Knock Off is there to predict switch ins and punish item holders. Earthquake hits the types that Acrobatics resists for heavy damage and U-Turn is for getting Archeops to safety in any dangerous situations. Next up is the new Pokemon; Corsola; using Regenerator. It likes to set up Light Screen, Reflect, Toxic and then recover off the pitiful damage you deal. Taunt or a Grass/Poison type shuts it down. Kabutops is next. Opting for SD over Shell Smash to keep decent defenses, it utilises Aqua Jet for revenge kills. Aurorus boosts its stats with Calm Mind and helps the team out with Sandstorm set up. It then throws out Ice-type Hyper Voice and Thunderbolt for coverage. Next; Cradily with a new trick up her sleeve - Storm Drain. Boosting her special attack if attempted to be hit by a water-type move. It'll set up stealth rock if in the early game and giga drains with occasional sludge waves. Finally, Aerodactyl mega evolves and destroys lives and pokemon with Aerial Ace, Stone Edge, Iron Head and Roost if you're too weak to hit it. Can you smash this rock?
