This was an amazing post. I know you're fairly new here and I don't know you well (and vise versa), but you seem like such an amazing person and I really, really hope you find a way to cope with this. You don't deserve this, and neither does anyone else. It's really sad and I've cried once and held back tears multiple other times, I'm just... speechless. I hope you pursue your teaching dream, and judging solely by your posts you are a very caring person who would be perfect for a job like that. Never back down and stay silent to hate like we're experiencing, we will all manage to get through this.  

This is the kind of positivity and action that's needed and I'm so proud to see you considering your options! Weigh them carefully and don't be afraid to reach out to people who can help you see this idea through: School advisors, professors, local political representatives, that sort of thing. It's all about personal choice now and if you think going down this road will make you happy in the long term and have a positive impact on others, you should be empowered to make it happen.

This is the kind of attitude I really am happy to see popping up. We have the next election to take back what's ours, and even with him in office, we as people can continue to better ourselves, because the future is always worth fighting for. My mom told me earlier as I was crying that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and I believe that with all my heart. You have a beautiful dream, and I believe with all of my being that you can achieve it. Thanks you for sharing this, it made me really happy to read it.

I'm so glad you didn't take that step, look at the beautiful thing that came out of that negative place. I don't know you that well but I just wanna say that I'm so incredibly proud of you. And I wish you all the best for your future. I know you'll do great things. And we'll always be with you. Sending you strength and love. 

A Great platform. Do it.

It's definitely not easy. And by it, I'm referring to managing any group of people or becoming any type of authority no matter how big or small. I'm sure even the FOTP Mods go through issues and get sick of their job from time to time. Just imagine the magnifying glass on you constantly to be fair with your decisions to always be justful and to be pure, to lead with integrity... to be a model for others... It surely isn't easy managing people and their 3994488 desires.. trying to pelase this one and calm down the other.. 

But if someone is brave enough to lead and is ready to face the adversaries and challenges that come along with the job, then they should go for it. Whatever it is you want to achieve managing a classroom/school/company/city/state/country if your heart calls for it then go for it and believe in yourself. 

Are you sure you want to have a political career? it seems like politics makes you really unhappy and being a teacher seems much more rewarding.  

You can still be heavily involved as a good citizen instead of making your whole life about politics 

You guys, I sent this to my high school English teacher and his reply was beautiful.

He also heard from several of my ex-classmates about the election as well, and said that he's glad I reached out to him. He's one of the smartest people I've ever known, so I asked him for his advice about how we can all get through this. He said that his wife has cancer so politics has taken a backseat in his life lately, but he closed it with "By all means, be the kind of leader your generation will need. You have all of the tools and the heart."

I want to thank each and every one of you for the encouraging words up above, I cried once again reading them but this time it wasn't in despair.

EDIT: I previously said that he has cancer and isn't teaching anymore but I read it wrong, he was talking about his wife. He is still teaching and also asked me if he could share my words above with his students, and he's going to tell me what they thought.

I am glad people are using this as a way to change the world for the better

we are the progressives, the changers, the people who are doing something 

even if that means posts on the internet were still uniting against something 

keep your head up cause we're all with you & we support you!

Everyone can make a change, no matter how little or ginormous 

we all should let our voices be heard, let our feelings out & do what needs to be done

 we might be the silent majority now, but in the next election cycle we won't back down or go without a fight

I think no matter what you decide to do, whether it be teach kids or lead adults, your heart is in the right place. The thing you should continue to consider is what will make you happy while you're working on what your impact will be. If you can find a way to have both - happiness and positive impact - then you're set for life. As a person who works in city service myself (I work in a social services), i can tell you that having a heart for your community greatly increases the value of any political decisions you make.
