Hello, you smelly Pokemonsters

Today we were blessed with a few announcements. The cover of Corocoro was revealed. While it was originally dismissed as not relevant, it later seemed like - on closer inspection - there was a new Lycanroc form on the cover which looked like MIdday Form, with green eyes, and a red body. Then, we were informed that Pokenchi would be airing at 8am JST with the world premier of Ultra Sun and Moon news - or more properly a "shocking announcement" - which also had bearing on the anime. 

This video showcases a scene from the preview of the next Sun and Moon anime episode - due for airing on August 10th - where Rockruff was stated to evolve. For those not in the know, Rockruff has been close to evolving for almost 20 episodes and has been meeting with both Lycanroc, unsure of which it will evolve into. And on Pokenchi tonight, it was revealed that Rockruff will evolve into a new form. The Dusk Form. 

The Dusk Form - as expected by Corocoro's cover - seems to take Midday form's stance, and use a coloration that is a mixture of both the red Midnight form and brown Midday form; as well as having the green eyes shown in the anime trailer, and a little bit of extra white fur. Not a massive change, but one that should have been expected. It's also important to note that we know nothing about the typing, stats or abilities of the new Lycanroc yet, but we do have one bit of information on its evolution method. The Pokemon website states:

"You can't get Dusk Form Lycanroc on your team by ordinary methods, such as discovering the mysterious Pokémon in the wild."

The above quote is interesting as it is a bit open-ended and doesn't outright confirm or deny whether Rockruff can evolve into Lycanroc normally in-game. It could mean that Lycanroc CAN evolve from Rockruff, but that you just can't find wild Lycanroc (Dusk Form) in the wild. Note that in SM, you can find both forms at Vast Poni Canyon. Alternatively, it could also mean that it's an event-exclusive form - like Battle Bond Greninja - wherein it can only be obtained via an event of some sort. We won't know until more information is released. 

So to answer the question of when the next information is coming... we don't know an exact date; but we know some possible ones. If Corocoro reveals any extra details on this Lycanroc or anything else, it should leak earlier this month because of a holiday in Japan - so between the 8th and 10th. Next, a new anime episode's tv guide does state that Mimikyu's disguised gets ripped (for the episode on the 17th) so it is not impossible to think a new form of that could be revealed next, next week. Finally, Worlds VGC runs from the 18th to the 20th, and that's where I would expect an actual trailer for Ultra Sun and Moon, if one isn't shown beforehand.
