  2. I never realized how truly bad it was til I started looking into them this past week I remember my stepdad always saying there was basically no singles market in Canada post 2000 because everyone was buying albums. It was sad for someone like me who LOVED buying singles. Going to the UK in 2000s was a dream for me cause entering HMV there and all the singles I loved it I did buy all the Fever CD singles bar IYE in a Canadian CD Store some time between 2002 and 2003. I remember I got Head in HMV, LAFS in CD Plus - I think thats what it was called lmao CIMW at Sunrise. Those wer

  4. Honestly i listen to 90s and 10s Mimi more than her 2000s. That was just a dull decade for music superstars in general for the most part.

  9. I want her to be more creative and involved and actually compose and write about deep things, sexney is great but it's kinda redundant and boring now. Don't know about the sound but I don't want it to be inspired by current pop music cuz it's trash

  10. Forget the long ass essays. The thread is simply informative as the title says. The OP is all you need to know. Madonna was bitter as gall and pressed as paper.

  12. I really hated Mariah, admired Whitney and wanted madonna to be successful in the 90s. The former two were untouchable and it seemed like their reign would never end while madonna was really un-cool with the GP. That's what I learned from reading music magazines. Well that was before I even heard how they sing.

  13. Lol , your essays getting longer, indicating you are pressed to the T. Grammys or any other criticism, unless they have an objective criteria, are just subjective opinions. They are lighter than air cos one doesn't have to care about them at all. Mary can't sing jazz if she doesn't know back phrasing. Yes. Mary's jazz singing lacks emotions. No. Based on what? But I understand a stan's need to defend their fave. Even on subjective critical acclaim, you stans like to bring only the positive ones. So transparent and pathetic.

  14. This thread should be closed by now as the discussion strays away from the title. The purpose is simply to let newbies know what madonna said about mariah and whitney other than the infamous "I'd rather kill myself".

  15. Lol, u two can keep reassuring each other. If it wasn't for her deliberately attention seeking videos at the start of her career, she wouldn't have made it big. She is more about image than sound. It's how the public remember her.

  17. So u can't come up with a madonna video sounding half as resonant as that, belting a C#5 maybe? Which madonna song is as complex as "vision of love"? I asked you that. Stay pressed to the T. OP: musically NO.

  18. To answer OP, Visually yes. Musically NO.

  19. To say Rihanna's or anyone's music lacks substance but your fave's has is very subjective and total BS tbh.

  23. Whitney is from the 80s and she passed away so forum people will say she is more influential. She def has more hype than Mariah. But Mariah is technically more influential than any other female singer vocally. From breathy coos intros to abrupt changes of registers to resonant upper belts to soaring whistles to hand weaves to what else. People try to emulate Mariah's way of singing than any other singer. She did THAT.
