The comedy aspect is a strange take. I mean...there are certainly humorous episodes (Voyager's "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy" and the Q episodes that weren't the bookends of TNG or introducing the Borg come to mind), but a whole series with a comic tone, headed by a creative force from "Rick and Morty" seems at odds with the established universe. The animation style they choose will likely tell us a lot about where their heads are at. I hope they don't draw too much inspiration from "The Orville", which felt like it was riding the line between sci-fi drama and goofy comedy so much that it ended
