  1. Well, it's actually quite simple: Ellie & Selena fans are simply more willing to post. Any artist could technically get a permasection here, but only if their fans are willing to actually post in their sections. Just because a certain artist is more liked or have more fans on FOTP doesn't guarantee their section working out. Cardi and Nicki have both had spotlight sections before; both tanked. BLACKPINK seemingly takes over the forum every time they release new music, but their section died out. Billie's hugely popular and quite liked, and her spotlight section's about to die for the

  2. People have an over-inflated view of how known anyone's discography is outside of their main market, and their stanbase. Even outside of people who enjoy music in general. A lot of people just aren't that interested in music, or couldn't tell you who sang a lot of big songs. My ex used to just guess that any old-sounding pop song sung by a woman was probably Madonna Meanwhile, my boyfriend now is a huge Madonna stan and knows all of her repertoire. What I mean to say is, pick an artist, and chances are the GP know a lot less about them than people on forums, in Hives, on Twitter, up

  3. Round‌ ‌100 ‌Winner:‌ Anticipating 9 Understand 3 That wraps up the game, thanks for playing for 100 rounds over the course of 7 months. Britney is the clear cut winner, Xtina did pretty well considering she has a smaller discography and only 3 good albums The full result in spoiler:

  4. “A bit racist” Serving “everyone that doesn’t stan Beyonce is racist”. My problem with KPop are their cheating-ass lunatic stans (especially on Twitter). Also, the fact they are literally drilled from an early age to be part of the manufactured industry that is the KPop industry. Nothing about it is authentic, not even in the slightest. Literally a bunch of Britney-esque child stars in the most toxic way possible. The fans are absolute fucking lunatics and think their "idols" are the most perfect people in the whole wide world and deserve to win every fucking award when most of

  5. Kylie Minogue is not NEARLY as successful in North America as Mariah is in Europe.

  6. its always funny to me how european TREX stans TRY to make it seem like mariah was some flop in europe, when in fact, shes sold like 30 millions albums imagine thinking the 3rd best selling female of all time, the best selling international female artist in ASIA (which has like 2/3 of the world's population), and the female with the biggest xmas classic in modern history is local worms

  7. But this is not about Madonna, this is whether Mariah is global or not. Your charts proved she was global. just because she didn’t hit #1 in other countries while Madonna did doesn’t make her “local”. a true local artist wouldn’t be charting at all in other countries. Come on, stop with the strawmen argument and stick to the topic.

  8. Not this thread again. She was globally succesful for as long as she was making pop or mainly pop music. When she switched to R&B she became more local to the US market. Music Box, her most generic/pop album, is her most succesful album overseas at Europe. Plus, after her divorce with Tommy Mottola she barely got any decent single releases with Sony so the fact she was doing R&B music and it was being mismanaged didn't help much to her "global" success

  9. How did we really manage to get Ellie Goulding (and Selena Gomez) of all people to get perma sections over artists that at least feel more mentioned around here? Like good for her fans but does anyone here actually have one of them as their main artist? Demi Lovato, Blackpink, hell even Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj or Cardi B feel more mentioned around here despite only one of them having a spotlight section. I'm impressed tbh

  14. And yet they still weren't anywhere NEAR the success of Britney or Xtina at the same time. It literally is the R&B thing and while there have been moments where R&B became a bit more dominant, the world has always been more responsive to typically white music like dance pop or adult contemporary. Give me one artist who typically makes R&B or other black dominated music who didn't find greater success switching to something more white. It happened to Whitney. It happened to Mariah. It happened to Beyoncé. There's an obvious trend here.

  15. The fact that you're so pressedt about her career often makes me chuckle. She is a global star and her music is also known globally. She is successful worldwide BUT is she as successful in comparison to Madonna or Celiné globally? No, because it's a different measurement that you need to take into realization. Mariah's career didn't start officially in the 80s like Madonna, and while we can also count Celiné as an actual 80s act along with Madonna and Whitney, her more popular persona "started" in 1990. The same year Mariah debuted. What did Celiné make since her English debut? Adult Cont

  19. Longevity wins at the end. Mariah can take her 3 years of European relevance and go. Comparing their last works. Disco peaked at #26 in USA which outweights like 2/3 of Caution's European peaks. Disco went top 10 in more countries than any mariah album since E=mc2 or even before that.

  21. References to the devil aside, we've gotten our second to last outfit, @Kristina, who also got summer as the assigned season Unlike the first 3 outfits, instead of a 6, it got an 8. This is the highest scored outfit in the round so far

  22. Well, since it's pretty quiet today, might be a little early/late for some people in the world, why don't we show the first outfit? This was submitted by @Shego. (Season: Fall) This outfit got...an average of 5.75, which, when rounded would be 5.8. And when rounded to the nearest one, 6.

  25. You know, this is the very thing that I genuinely hate about you. Nobody makes you feel that you must like K-Pop. Hell, I haven't cared about them since 2015. But calling them KTrash and twats and many other things, also viciously being against people who do like the genre, it's just a very weird attitude. A bit racist too.

  28. Like some have said here already, yes I believe she is a global star. She’s an incredibly well known figure and I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone internationally who doesn’t at the least know her name. One of her biggest markets in fact is Asia, she didn’t just dominate the US at her peak. She has songs that people will know as well if not for just hearing them on her records or the radio, then their use in pop culture. Now, do I think that her discography as a whole has been received the same amount of enduring legacy internationally as some of her peers? No. But singles wer

  30. A thread no one asked for. Insert certain Madonna stans and some irrelevant inactive member who only appears once every three months then disappears saying yes. Anyway to answer... No. Mariah is one of the best selling artists of all time in the US and the best selling non-native female artist of all time in Japan. The two largest music markets sooo.

  35. This narrative of picking a random European country and being like 'congrats on charting in Luxemburg' is so lame We can always talk about major markets like UK, France, Germany and Spain No Mariah song thats not an Xmas carol is remembered in Europe, so they are pretty equal rather than Mariah eclipsing Kylie

  37. Me. I Am Mariah...: 127k in the US Rebel Heart: 238k in the US Caution: 43k in the US Madame X: 170k in the US I think it’s pretty clear to see who the bigger/more remembered artist is. It’s a testament to how Mariah’s success is all smoke and mirrors. If she really was as big as the lamb chops make her out to be, she'd be pulling much better numbers.

  48. Results: Now I’m Following You ( Pt. 2 ) gets lost and is escorted out of the competition with 4 votes. It was close since Back in Business got 5. Seeing how judges @Platinum Gold and @Shego have spread their influence onto judges @plutoniano and @Max, NC-17 rating was warranted and therefore less busier round. Some may say this is judge @SeekingThrill's moment. Voting is for the song you want to keep competing.
