  1. Dignity is a fire album full of bops so I'm glad she's doing more dance-y songs... All About You is crazy good so I'm really glad it's on the album. It's really infectious like her song Holiday off her Best of album... Chasing the Sun was terrible, though...
  2. This. And this. Plus... saying Britney is a robot.
  3. These are exactly the same "fans" this thread is about... they'll want to create a hologram version of her that is controversy and opinion free and sings Material Girl at every tour stop and starts promptly at 8pm and always arrives fully dressed... That would not be the real Madonna and the "legacy" it would extend would be a watered-down falsehood.
  4. It's not extending their legacy, it's taking a crap all over it. That MJ performance wasn't actually MJ performing so I don't agree that it's part of his legacy. It happened after his death. It really has nothing to do with him. Weekend at Bernie's may have been an epic weekend but it was not Bernie's... An artist's legacy goes beyond the grave because the work they did before dying survives them. "Work" "they" "did" after they died is only part of the legacy of their heirs and legal team who are thirsty for cash...
  5. Their work carries on in their work -- their songs and videos and concert films, etc... It's milking a corpse, not extending a legacy... there is no way watching a hologram is anything akin to seeing an actual live performance unless the hologram you are watching is Paris Hilton. It's beating a dead horse, literally so if we're talking about Jessica Simpson.
  6. I absolutely love this show but I had a feeling this was coming. I give HBO credit for at least allowing them to wrap up the story, although I would have given them more credit for renewing it LOL... It just didn't fit in with the rest of their (mostly shit) programming so no lead-in they offered it would have helped prop up the audience. The only other HBO show I have watched recently was The Newsroom and that's gone, too... Girls is a crime against television...
  7. But it's not even that it's a nostalgia act... the person is not THERE. I would just be sad for what I was missing if I went to one of those... it wouldn't be fulfilling for me in any way. It would be like dangling an imaginary carrot in front of a hungry rabbit. It's just a money grab and I'm not interested in keeping a deceased artist's hangers-on family members and lawyers well fed and fur covered, especially at the expense of their legacy...
  8. I think one of my tickets for this tour says "opening act" after 8pm but I don't think they all do... on the last tour I don't think any of them did. There were a lot of reviews that pointed out the late start times but nothing official from M or Guy or Liz or Live Nation ever made a point to make people aware of it and they should have. Your point of view is exactly what I don't understand so I'm glad you responded... you say you "don't like her politcs" and you are just there "to be entertained" yet you are there to be entertained by a woman who has built her career on speaking her
  9. LOL I really don't understand the draw of those hologram tours... its seems rather sad to me.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly with all of this, especially the part I put in red... I say that all the time.
  11. I completely agree. That's why I don't view it as a bad thing that those fans aren't rushing to buy tickets to RHT. It's nice to be able to say her tour raked in $300 or $400 million but it's quite awful to be stuck in the middle of a group of those people sitting in the audience complaining while I'm trying to enjoy any song that doesn't start with the words "Like A...". And Madonna doesn't like it, either... she's been complaining about them since at least Truth or Dare when she mentioned the front row at the Las Vegas show, and the fact that she plans the design of her stage (
  12. This all makes a lot of sense, especially since her European shows *seem* to be having better sales success than the American ones... despite all of the griping about stadiums vs. arenas over the past couple of tours. I know a lot of fans in Europe travel to another country to see her but it never really occurred to me that this is because they *have* to and not because they want to. Good point. I can understand people being disappointed at wanting to hear an old hit and getting a remixed version instead but if I was a casual fan of someone and was considering paying $400 per ticke
  13. So they see what they want to see... That makes sense.
  14. I agree. There were a lot of comments where people mentioned how they have seen "plenty of big acts" who were "smart enough to play the songs that made them famous" (referencing legacy acts; Cher was mentioned more than once)... people seem to take responsibility for having GIVEN or ALLOWED an artist to become successful and then they feel that artist should be in some way beholden to them for that success. They seem to feel Madonna's success is something they gifted to her and now she is forever in their debt. Essentially they were expecting her to play the hits because she *owes*
  15. I'm not asking about the quality of her work and I'm not trying to compare her to another artist... I'm asking how people can be so familiar with her music while being so blind about the message she's trying to convey with it. Think of it in terms of casual fans attending a Gaga concert wanting to hear her sing Born This Way and then complaining about how she is too pro-gay rights and saying she needs to be less preachy about tolerance and acceptance. How does such an obvious message behind a song get lost for the people who want dance to it and sing along and yet have absolutely no id
  16. tbh Liam will be the last one left - he's not aging well and he's the homophobe. He'll end up in one of those sad super-bands with the remaining corpses from NKOTB, Backstreet boys, N'Sync, and 98 Degrees touring school gymnasiums in New Zealand with Ciara.
  17. LOVE this video. The dancing is so fierce and Madonna looks gorgeous.
  18. QueenMDNA

    wow

I really and truly believe that the song and the album would have been much more successful if she had released the video instead of censoring herself... the one-two punch of not having a visual to associate with a very visual artist and having a "no regrets" artist censor herself so publicly was the death knell for the whole era. It's an amazing video and that dance in the hallway is so fierce... Plus, I love her with dark brown hair.
  19. Spoiler Alert: Yes... it's a long post. Either you're interested in reading it or you're not (in which case you can just move along...) No need to point out the obvious. I was curious as to why Madonna only has a 3-star rating on Ticketmaster (out of a possible 5) so I read through 20 pages of 1-star reviews of the MDNA Tour (there were more than 20 pages but that was enough for me to get the gist of what the complaints involved)... A lot of them were obviously about her starting 2.5-3 hours late for all of the MDNA shows and how that was disrespectful to those who bought ti
  20. I saw that article and my first thought was that it was not credible because of the incorrect information about Yankee Stadium. But the NYP is a tabloid rather than an actual newspaper anyway... just like most of the NYC daily papers are.
  21. Seriously you totally had me 100% but then you lost me...
