Oh, wait! Look who’s here - Lily Allen! Good evening Lily, you are looking incredible. Well, thank you! It’s my first public appearance in a couple of years, so I thought it’d be fair enough to put on some fancy clothing and look like a professional artist at least once (laughs). Wait - who's that girl carrying a huge clock? I don't know either. Anyway, yes! It’s been a long while since the last time we caught up with you. What happened? Ah, life happens, you know. I don’t know, I feel like being a full-time singer-songwriter was making me lose precious moments, especially when it came to raising my two daughters. So, I took my time to reflect on everything and ponder if keeping things the way they were flowing was worth it. I guess the answer was ‘no’. (Laughs) Quite that. Obviously, I love being a singer and a songwriter, but everything has pros and cons. And I feel that, in my case, the cons weighted more than the pros. I decided to recluse myself for some years to reflect on the state of my life and the tension between being an artist and a mother - it’s almost a dichotomy of some sort, if I’m being honest with you. I’m a very extremist woman, so there’s no point in the middle for me, no way of harmonizing both sides of my life. Why did you decide to come tonight, then? Just asking, I’m not trying to be rude or whatever. I get that, don’t worry. Honestly, I missed being on this kind of event, because the purpose behind it all is celebrating music, which is one of the greater passions in my life. Seeing my friends being recognized for the top-notch music they’ve released over the course of the year is priceless. They also have some expensive free food on backstage, so that’s a plus (laughs). Oh, who are you rooting for, then? Um, I don’t know, to be frank. A lot of great music was released last year, right? I’ll be very pleased to see anybody winning the awards. But I’m specially looking forward to seeing Emma Roberts taking the Album of the Year prize home - her album is one of the best modern pop records I’ve ever heard. Frank Ocean and Christina Aguilera also released incredible records, so I’d be happy to see them winning as well. Oh, and obviously, my girl Rihanna - I think she isn’t nominated for the Album of the Year category but her latest project topped Neo in my opinion, even being as short as an extended play. She’s one of the greatest of our generation, we’re very lucky of having her as a powerhouse name on the industry. And what about your new music? I was fearing you’d ask me about this (laughs). I think everybody expected me to have a full-length album ready by now, but that’s not the case, unfortunately. I was focusing on myself and my children for the past two years, so I wasn’t worried on recording new music or anything like that. But I did write some songs - writing music is a very organic and cathartic process for me. I’m always penning something, even if I’m not having the thought of writing actual songs in my mind. So, I do have some full tracks written and random verses and choruses that I could pick to bring forth some other songs. But, as of now, I’m not concerned about recording a full album and I don’t have any songs recorded. Oh, that’s quite frustrating to your fans. Do you plan on putting out a new album this year, though? Who knows what will happen? I’ve recorded a full eight-song project in only one week at the end of 2015, which turned out to be Life Out of Balance. It depends on my inspiration and on how fast I’ll be able to come up with a new album. I don’t plan on start writing it that soon, though. Well, take your time to craft it! Thank you and have a great evening, Lily! Thank you, bye!
