The NY Times has a new podcast with details on what's going on behind the scenes with Kesha getting new music out.

She's so strong It still confuses me how she will be able to release music but keep on with the lawsuit in New York at the same time. I wish everything goes well.
Sony told the judge Kesha was free to release music without having to work with Luke. If they don't allow her to, the judge isn't going to be too happy. This case will go on for at least another year, so it's a smart move on kesha's part to get an album out.

I don't see any problem here. She still gets to make the case that he abused her in trials in both Tennessee and New York. Sony promised the judge that Kesha could release music. If they don't allow her to do that, she'll likely get an injunction on appeal. If they do let her release, she gets to make money that will help pay her pricey legal bills. And she'll be able to get her career back on track.

I was surprised Ben didn't say something after the injunction debacle. He and Kesha have been friends for years and he's had his own label troubles. It's good to know he's been supporting her behind the scenes this whole time.

who?
The Judds were a hugely popular country music act. It's a big deal for Kesha to get praised by someone like this.
"Wynonna and Naomi were signed to RCA Records in 1983 as the duo The Judds. Between 1983 and 1991, The Judds charted 23 hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles (now Hot Country Songs) charts, including 14 number ones. They also recorded eight studio albums, one Christmas album and two Greatest Hits compilations. In their six-year career, The Judds sold more than 20 million records worldwide and had won over 60 industry awards, including five Grammy Nominations, nine Country Music Association awards (seven of them consecutive), and eight Billboard Music Awards. At the time, they were the biggest-selling duo in country music and remained so until they were eclipsed by Brooks & Dunn in the 1990s."

Country music legend Wynonna Judd called Bob Dylan cover artist Kesha the #NextGenerationOfGreatness.

Yeah but still Luke is the powerful one in this situation
No doubt about that. But now they have to balance his needs with how they look to the public. Kesha was getting so much attention in the last few days it's like they had no choice but to tweet their support.

Well that's not what Kesha exactly needs from them
True but it shows the bad PR has really affected them and they're trying to appear supportive. I don't think Luke is getting their 100% support anymore because they're clearly worrying about their public image.

Ben and Kesha posted on Instagram about the show.

Ben was supposed to perform with Kesha at the Billboard Awards. He brought her on stage last night to sing a few songs.

That's why he's not letting her perform.
At this point any public appearance she makes reminds people of her situation and what a piece of shit he is.
He does it to limit her exposure and to hurt her directly.
I think it backfired. Cancelling has brought far more attention to her situation than letting her perform would have.

i hate to break it to her but her daughter signed a contract and the situation that she is in is very shitty and these kinds of things are bound to happen since there is a contract
The judge has the power to release Kesha from the contract. She didn't do it because she believed Sony's and Luke's claims that Kesha would be able to release music and that it would be promoted. It should be obvious at this point that the contract should be canceled. Get on it judge lady.

I'm glad this is getting attention since almost no one noticed what happened with True Colors.

Textbook abuse right here. Dangling a carrot, giving her hope, then snatching it away at the last second to show who's really in control. Add in how he most likely engineered a bullshit rumor to justify his abuse and make it seem like he's just being reasonable.
I hope this shit is brought up during her appeal. Letting her record a song, making it seem like it'll get proper single release, then nixing it the day before it's supposed to hit radio? Saying she can perform, confirmed to the point it's being advertised by the awards, then taking it back at the last moment? This is exactly what her team said would happen and exactly what anyone with a brain knew would happen. But the judge was apparently born yesterday and couldn't understand why a business would sabotage its investment. Well, here you go. I just hope Puke (and Sony) can't find a way to hide the shadiness behind another smokescreen.
It's bad enough her abuser is in control of her career, but he's also still in a position where he can control and manipulate her feelings by pulling shit like this. Free her.
And he feels powerful enough that he thinks he can get away with it. Whether he will or not remains to be seen.

Can artists even perform covers on BBMA btw? Kesha performing a cover of Bob Dylan's song is a bit random isn't?!
The song isn't random because she's performing at a Bob Dylan event next month. The situation isn't normal so I think Billboard was going to make an exception for her. Remember Kesha already has a relationship with people at ABC because of Rising Star and that's the channel that will air the awards. TMZ actually backed away from their own rumor last week. Harvey Levin himself says he didn't think it was going to happen. This is even more proof the statement performance rumor was always BS.

Someone on Dr.Luke's side to make her look bad.
This is getting really suspicious. Remember when someone rumoured that they are dropping dr.luke? People started to thank Sony, even though this wasn't true.
They are all working together to make Kesha look bad and ruin her career, by spreading rumours and bullshit and stopping everything shes doing.
Yes they let her perform True Colours and release it but that's only to make them look "innocent" and show how lovely they are. In reality they are ruining her and she's not going to gain much from it as its been pulled off from radio stations. Soon everyone will forget about that song.
Sony said they want to "support" the artist but I don't see anything happening in that way.
I was wondering if that was possible too. Make it look like he was being a nice guy by allowing her to perform but then having a reason for putting a stop to it. It's also possible the BBMA's were looking to create some hype for the show by putting out the rumor because it seems TMZ got the info from them but said they didn't have many details about what Kesha was planning to do.

This makes sense. Her lawyers wouldn't let her do something controversial. The question is who told TMZ she was going to do a statement performance.

BMI lists Katy as a feature which is odd since back up vocals wouldn't count as a feature. I only hear Kesha on the song.

If he can rescind approval, this could also explain why the radio release of True Colors was cancelled. One good thing is that it could really hurt him during the appeal hearing for Kesha's injunction. I hope it's true that she can still perform a cover song.

"We intend to file a motion to lift the stay and to file an amended complaint in this action," said the pop star's attorney Bo Pearl.
Judge Barbara M. Scheper on Monday said she had planned to invite a motion to dismiss the action, since several of the claims in the New York suit have been tossed at this point and a provision in the contract between Sebert and Gottwald set New York as the venue.
Sebert's attorneys hadn't filed a status report prior to the hearing and Scheper said she was disappointed that neither she nor Gottwald's counsel was informed this was coming.
"If you just present the same arguments to me, that’s not going to be well taken," said Scheper.
The next status conference is scheduled for July 15.

Unfortunately this is to be expected. She's claiming he caused her emotional damage so a judge may decide he has the right to see her therapy records. They wouldn't come out publicly and a lot of what she said may be redacted.
He would most likely use them to try to minimize her claims. For example, if she told her therapist that the abuse she experienced from the media and people like Perez Hilton affected her, Luke's lawyers can use that to say it wasn't Luke that caused her emotional problems. It was all these other things.
Kesha's lawyers will fight to hold onto these because they help Luke to build his defense against her claims. They want to make that as difficult as possible.

As long as whatever she does is approved by Alex and Daniel, it shouldn't be a problem. She's probably going to address the issue of abuse of women in the industry.

Oh cute tbh Meghan annoys the fuck out of me but this is nice I guess
She annoys me too but I feel bad for her over this whole thing. Jlo is the one who's in the wrong because she put out a song with Luke's name on the credits and didn't seem to care. Meghan is left trying to make excuses for it even though she wrote the song two years ago and isn't really at fault for Luke's connection to it.

Katy's Being Dragged Into Kesha's Sexual Assault Suit Against Luke
in Katy Perry

In a legal case both sides have to turn over all texts, emails, documents, etc that are relevant to the case to each other. So Luke has access to Kesha's info and she has access to his. Then witnesses in the case are subpoenaed to answer questions in depositions. Since Katy has worked with Luke and was friends with Kesha, she'll be called in to testify and evidence that was collected like this text message will be used to determine what questions she'll be asked.
