I'll say it again, I am STATING FACTS. Belly hasn't been successful, period. She has only been consistently mediocre in the US, the only country where people actually know who she is. None of her albums have been successful after Breakaway. If selling 1 million in those times is a success then every single album Xtina has released sans Lotus has been a big success too. If Belly has "longevity" because she has sold 1 million albums then so has Xtina since her only album that hasn't sold 1 million is Lotus. rip2 So using your logic, Christina's had the longer longevity. nat1 Kii at Belly being "exceptionally successful" and kii at her "hits" being remembered, the delusion. rip2

Not sure why you're saying it's my, "logic", when I was talking about charts and then started talking sales. brit3

    Any who.

No. Kelly has had more longevity. It's quite obvious when you look at the chart runs of singles from Kelly and Christina's respective albums.

There's nothing impressive about a song going top 10 and then free-fall hard on the charts.

Why I'm saying it's impressive is because it went top 10 with just one performance.

Similarly, Christina performed Your Body only once, but not so similarly, the song failed to even reached the top 20.

In short, Christina has sold more records, has more and bigger hits, is more famous and more respected, has actually influenced an entire generation of successful acts around the globe and has cemented herself as a pop icon and one of the biggest names from the '00s. Belly and her mild success in the US don't even come close. That's all. nat2

Not sure how you measure who is more respected lol.

Kelly's success is anything but mild,  however after seeing how you're handling this conversation, I don't really care to convince you otherwise anymore. So bye. giphy.gif

There's nothing ignorant and stupid about stating facts tho.

    - Selling 1 million ww in 2007 IS NOT a success, especially not when 850K come from the US. rip2

    - Selling 1.4 million ww in 2009 IS NOT a success, especially not when 1 million come from the US. rip2

    - Selling 1.5 million ww in 2011 IS NOT a success, especially not when 1.1 million come from the US. rip2

Do I really need to explain why WIR, GH and PBP are big flops? rip2 Those are tragic/bad numbers for the times the albums were released, who are you trying to kid? She hasn't had any real and substantial success since Breakaway, her sales without the US are legit TRAGIC, and those in the US aren't impressive at all.

Are you seriously bragging about PBP? rip2  PBP the album that has failed to sell more than 250K in the US? Or the single that free-fell harden than a 1 ton rock in a pool?

Good for her, she's still bigger than Xtina tho.

You're missing my point, though. I will say this again, obviously Christina has had the bigger career, but you're completely discrediting Kelly, I feel. Just because Kelly's sales aren't what they were during the Breakaway era, doesn't mean she isn't exceptionally successful. In terms of charts, she's had at least one top 10 single from each album, all of which are remembered by the GP. Christina has more sales under her belt, but Kelly clearly has more longevity.

And yes, I am bragging about Piece By Piece the song. What happened with it is still impressive, regardless of it tumbling down the charts.

  6. Okay, so here's the thing. Yes, Christina has had the bigger career, but some of y'all are acting like Kelly has not had any success or impact since the Breakaway era. That's not true.

Not sure how anyone can say that Kelly hasn't been successful outside of the BA era. Yeah, her worldwide impact isn't what it used to be, but she has had hits globally since the BA era (Stronger, My Life Would Suck Without You). She's also had so many memorable hits in the US, all apart of the longevity that her career has had.

Also let's not forget Piece By Piece, which holds the record for the highest female debut on the Billboard Hot 100 this year.

So while I do agree that Christina has the bigger career, belittling Kelly's success is also ignorant and just stupid.

Btw that pic is over a year and a half old. Queen has slimmed down quite a lot.

  7. Since signing with Atlantic Records earlier last summer, Kelly revealed she was working on her next album.

Kelly has described the album as sounding "soulful" and "urban" numerous times, and stating it's along the lines of what she covered on American Idol.
"It’s very much my personality,” she says. “I think it’s very much what people expected from me off of watching me on Idol. I sang all these Aretha [Franklin] things, I love Tina [Turner], I love Mariah [Carey], I love Whitney [Houston]. I think it’s very much what people expected in the first place. I love all my stuff that I’ve done but this is the record that has been in me since junior high. And that music from when I was in junior high is now coming back [into style] — like our 15-year-old listens to R&B that I listened to in high school.”

In an interview with PEOPLE, Kelly dropped new details on the album's release.
“I’m working on my new album now ... We are hoping the single will be in April, and then the album in June,” says the mom of two and stepmother of two. “It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done. It’s the first time I got to pick my label, because I just got out of my [American] Idol contract. I’ve been dying to make this record since Idol"

In closing, Kelly says, We’re still working on it, but we have a good batch of songs already and I can’t wait to sing them live,” she says. “They’re amazing. After having a career for so long, it’s so weird that nobody knows [my sound] yet, so it’s going to be so good. It’s definitely a different chapter.”
