The Talk (US) - TV Promo

    Spoiler

Tinashe has become one of the biggest forces in the music industry for the past two years and one of the youngest faces of music. The R&B songstress returned to the music scene with a powerful trap-influenced hit earlier this year when she announced to social media by surprise her comeback single entitled 'Roll The Dice'. The track was directly linked to an album that the singer later announced to be called 'Haywire' which was released this week.

Marking a new start for the singer after the fiasco that happened last year with her somophore album 'Kachingwe' and despite Tinashe's hiatus, her comeback has been very anticipated as many fans wondered for so long the reason of the singer's disappearance. It's safe to say that Tinashe is becoming more and more etablished in the music industry seeing how she scored her second top 3 hit on the charts with 'Roll The Dice' and how 'Haywire' looks like it's shaping up to be Tinashe's biggest and most acclaimed record of her career.

Now that Tinashe is back on track with a new body of work, the pop star is currently on the road for another promotional campaign. In fact, Tinashe is currently in the US to promote her new project with her most recent appearance being on The Talk. Check out what the singer revealed below.

    On her disappearance last year

I don' t know if there was one specific moment, I feel like it was a slow coming to realization. It was probably a whole year where I had just these thoughts and feelings in my head and my gut telling me that it wasn't right, that that wasn't the situation that I wanted to be in. I had to drop everything and get out of wherever I was mentally at the time to focus on me and what I wanted to do. It's funny because last year, everyone around me knew about these feelings. I was pretty open about being confused and lost, so it didn't come as a  surprise to my surroundings when I decided to just quit.

    On coming out of hiding

At first, I felt like there's this weight lifted off my shoulders where I was like 'alright, you've done the hardest part. Now the music is out there!. But once the demand for music started rising and it started doing extremely well on the charts, that's when it clicked that everything was going back to normal. I didn't know how to act from there, I was already confused about the fact that it was getting commercially well-received and then I had to quickly realize that I was soon going to embark on a whole promotional campaign for another project. Everything took a turn this year, it was just insane.

Tinashe then performed 'Roll The Dice' and 'Lie To Me' with Ariana Grande on the show.

You can buy Tinashe's third studio album 'Haywire' right now on iTunes and stream it on Encore.

Me and Kevin are friends off here, I'm not some forum clout chaser such as yourself ny1

You take this all so seriously I can see that vein popping out your forehead from here ny1

I have no beef with @Kristina and no amount of ass digging from yourself is going to create some ny1

Being friends and far up someone’s ass are two separate things but you wouldn’t know that. gag1

You’re literally present everytime I argue with Kevin, you’re the one to take things seriously Idk who you think you’re fooling love. gag1

Okay but what does this have to do with sexism? Taylor has a history of publicly shaming and humiliating other women. She is notorious for trashing her ex-boyfriends (and she has got a lot of them) in her songs for attention and publicity. She has extremely narcissistic tendencies (just like Kanye) and she has literally applauded herself for experiencing white privilege at the Grammys.
I’d tear her down if she was a guy, trust me. She is simply not a good person and I’m tired of her pulling this “cute girl next door” image when she has shown time and time again that she’s a calculated and manipulative backstabber.

Now, please tell me what this has to do with sexism? Calling her a whore? Well it’s not like I called her a whore because of her long list of ex-boyfriends. I could totally keep up with her in that regard. dead2 I use the term quite often. Me and my friends call each other that all the time. It’s not that serious.

Targeting a woman by using slurs like « whore » doesn’t have sexist/misogynist undertones?

Regardless of your intentions, you could use better words to voice your dislike towards her but you choose to pick the degrading words.

I couldn’t give less fucks about Taylor, but at least stay consistent with the causes you defend. gag1

    Don't waste you're time on Gilly-lite sis ny12

Of course you would call out @Kristina for rooting for Kanye and yet not saying shit about @Madonna supporting Kanye too. ny12

Also kind of ironic of you to say Gilly-lite when you’re constantly defending @Madonna and licking his ass. You don’t see me far up @Gilly‘s ass like you with Kevin. gag1

    Hopefully Kanye.

Taylor is an even worse human being than him. I wish her the absolute worst in the world.

You’re so committed to denounce sexism!!1 and ageism!!1 when it’s about Madonna and yet you’re the first one to tear women down. You’re so transparent and you clearly don’t care about any of the issues you’ve ranted about in the past except when it involves pictures of Madonna’s wrinkly hands.

    On the release of 'Haywire'

The past two weeks have been insane and busy to say the least. It's funny because I didn't come back to the scene with many expectations when 'Roll The Dice' dropped. The original plan was to put out music to get myself out there again and test the waters in a way, I didn't think the music would connect with people out of the gate. I'm happy to see how everything turned out as surprising as it was to me, putting out this album feels like a brand new start to me.

    On getting bigger

I feel like I’ve been working really hard this year at growing a fanbase, a touring base and I’m continuing to grow and I hope they will see it that way. This album is another side of me and it’s exciting to be able to give old fans who have been there forever a chance to rediscover me again too. I actually had a talk about touring with my team, and ever since the release of 'Haywire', the demand to see me on tour has increased by 20% which is kind of crazy how one single album did this.

    On naming the album 'Haywire'

I've always had it in the back of my head, but it started to become more and more relevant as I worked on the album. The whole meaning of it is a reflection of the past year, I feel like things got out of my control last year and that's why I decided to come back with a body of work entitled 'Haywire'. It's a return to form.

After the host's questions, Tinashe gave a performance of 'Roll The Dice' & 'Lie To Me'  on the show.

You can also check out Tinashe's new album 'Haywire' available on all platforms.

    On comparisons with other artists

I used to get compared a lot to other fellow female artists. I think the public always compares a new artist to another as a way for them to associate an artist they don't know with another artist they are familiar with in order to identify them more easily. But now I think I'm doing a pretty good job at establishing myself and with a third album out, people are getting more and more familiar with my music, who I am and what I'm about so it's not something recurrent anymore, thankfully.

On what to expect from a Tinashe live show

I generally have a band behind me and a crew of dancers to help me out. You should expect the show to be a high-energy performance and to have people on their feet. People need to be prepared for a lot of dancing, and some shiny outfits. [laughs] I like to have full make-up on when I'm performing, I really want to shine to really be feeling it. It's a different energy when you're on stage, you can't explain but you feel larger than world. I think I toned it down a bit, I used to be even more extra on stage.

You can purchase Tinashe's single 'Roll The Dice' as long as her latest one 'Lie To Me' with Ariana Grande. While you're at it, you can also buy and listen to 'Haywire' which is available on all platforms.

On writing 'Haywire' on the road

While traveling, I did have some free time sometimes and I definitely used it to write some songs. To be able to tour the world when you're promoting new material and performing in all of these different cities is very especial so it's good to take advantage of that. It felt like I had some fresh inspiration. Having traveled and gone to some new places and experienced some new things, I had a new perspective to write from. So this album process was a really great one for me. I definitely had a better idea going in of what I wanted.

On having bigger plans for the future

As of now, there's nothing officially planned for the future. I think that for now, I'm okay with taking my time and not rushing anything. I'm taking advantage of whatever is happening in the moment, if I get the opportunity to tour, I would gladly do it but it's not something i'm forcing to happen. Me and my team talked about what we could possibly do, but we're waiting to see how things unfold naturally. We've definitely planned on releasing at least one more single before the end of the era. We're very optimist about the future though.

  10. Omg, I didn’t know it was her birthday. rip2

I can’t believe she’s pushing 30, she’s still that Disney girl I loved to watch on TV. lol3

Happy birthday to whisperlena, only people with taste appreciate her. clap3

    Cancelled it already.

I didn’t even read the long ass OP but thanks for the breakdown rip3

I upvoted because it was so out of pocket but that was already explained so quit bringing up the same ol’ shit. Re-brand yourself.

I said two times already you didn't write but you supported ageist posts by calling them trolls. But my avi, which is clearly a troll unlike Mariah's posts and usernames, are ageist to you, the reach. fall8

When you upvote and downvote a post then? nat1

The OP made fun of Madonna’s hands, how’s that ageist to begin with? rip3 Mariah is old and has better hands. It’s not necessarily an age thing.

And that thread was MONTHS ago, not weeks just to point that out. nat1

I didn't say you made ageist posts, i said you supported some questionable ageist posts by calling them trolls. But you got "offended" by my avi, which its actually a troll to everyone but you. Just say you're obsessed with me and move on.

You cared enough to make sure to turn a BGs thread about charts to Madonna's age again tho.

Where then? Show me my ageist posts concerning Madonna? I’m waiting nat1

    Supporting ageist stuff? rip3

do you dream of me in your sleep?

I remember laughing about Mariah’s 19#1s OP but I don’t care enough about Madonna’s wrinkles to drag them? nat1
