  2. On Palm Sunday (March 20), Tyler Perry hosted the live TV musical The Passion on Fox, a modern retelling of the story of Jesus' crucifixion set in New Orleans. Seal, Daughtry, and Prince Royce all delivered standout vocal performances throughout the two-hour event, as did Jencarlos Canela, the actor-singer who played Jesus. His most memorable vocal was near the end of the night, when he stood atop the Westin Hotel in New Orleans and sang Katy Perry's Prism song "Unconditionally" from the perspective of the risen Christ. Using the pop song to represent Jesus' unconditional love for humanity was a fitting choice, especially since Perry's parents are preachers and she grew up in a very active Christian environment (her first album, released as Katy Hudson, is actually a Christian rock release). Even if Perry's parents aren't that into the whipped cream-spouting bra, they can probably get behind this. X Christian Katy ha impact
  3. From an interview with Dolly with Rolling stone: "We were going to do 'Coat of Many Colors' together as a duet and then she got the big idea, why don't we sing 'Jolene' together because she loves that song and since it's going to be one of the movies," explains Parton, who plans to release the double album Pure and Simple with Dolly's Biggest Hits and go on tour in 2016. "I go, yeah, why not? So I'm going to try to combine the 'Coat of Many Colors' and 'Jolene' to make it like a really even more special moment to perform with her." It'll be the first time the pair performs together on a stage, though they've been part of the mutual admiration society for some time. And Perry, with her colorful style and persona, clearly took a few cues from Parton's outsize appearance and personality. Perry also showed her appreciation for country music when she starred opposite Kacey Musgraves on an episode of CMT Crossroads and then brought Musgraves on her Prismatic tour. "I know she comes to Dollywood, brings her friends. . . and she's contacted me a few times," says Parton. "I've tried to get to do some things before and it never worked out with our schedules. But I know she grew up in a spiritual family — I think her daddy was preacher or something like that. I think she relates to me in that respect. I don't know her yet but I hope to get to and maybe we'll get a chance to do something."

  5. The multitalented, yet problematic rapper took to Twitter today after the release of her new mixtape "Slay Z" and voiced her support for Kesha's alleged rapist, Dr. Luke: User "MissFantasea" asked if she would still release the songs she had worked on with him to which she replied with this tweet. How do you all feel about this?
  6. And on the seventh day, goddess Mariah banned overhead lighting. In certain circles, Mariah Carey is already revered as a god among Grandes, but an endorsement of biblical proportions from the reigning queen of soul doesn’t hurt. During her performance in London on Tuesday, Adele took a break between ballads to address her adoring public. Circling the stage, she extended happy birthdays, revealed red carpet anxieties and even delivered an important commentary on the culture of breastfeeding all while draped in a British flag. Yes, it’s too late to buy tickets. After remarking on how ridiculous it would be if she wore a T-shirt with her face on it, someone who might not share a similar shame came to mind. “Did you read that article the other day where Mariah Carey called the lighting abusive?” Adele asked the audience about Carey’s comments on the perils of non-custom designed overhead lighting. “She is so biblical that lady. It’s a joke. I absolutely adore her.” Adele was referencing comments Carey made in a Sunday Times interview, in which she detailed her extreme objection to certain types of lighting. “I have to point out this is a rented house — I would never have overhead lighting. High hats, they call them,” she said, reaching peak Mimi levels. “In my apartment in New York, it’s all recessed lighting, chandeliers, candles. This lighting is abusive.” And once Adele realized that Carey was set to perform on the same stage the following night, Adele continued, “She’s here tomorrow? Oh, my God, I should leave a secret note for her. I think that she should be in the Bible.” Don’t fact check this, but we’re pretty sure Carey’s musings are a direct quote from the good book. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/adele-mariah-carey-bible_us_56f42ce1e4b04c4c37619c18

  8. Adele—performing in London, at the O2 arena, for the sixth London show on her world tour—dedicated a rendition of her “Make You Feel My Love” Tuesday night to the victims of yesterday’s attacks in Brussels, which took the lives of at least 30 people and injured 230 individuals. Adele asked the crowd to turn on their phone lights and wave their hands in the air as she sang the ballad, off her first album, 19. When finished, she reflected, “I don’t think I’ve ever actually been so moved in my life at one of my shows, that was just so beautiful. Thank you very much for doing that. I think they heard us.” The 27-year-old singer also addressed the perpetrators of the attacks, as she imparted to the arena, “I’m hoping you’ve all come to be entertained by me. . . . I’m here to entertain you, so we’re all united, so that makes us much better than them f-ckers. You’re on, you f-ckers.” http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/03/adele-tribute-brussels-victims-video
  9. 6:30 she expected to be the one singing along with Eminem on the track. It was still kept in the track tho and is mostly mistaken as Rihanna's. (Although I think Rih had hit those notes live at one point anyway )
  10. Nicki Minaj clearly wanted to prove something when she stopped her concert Tuesday night dead in its tracks to proclaim her love for a boyfriend who's not allowed out of the house. Nicki was thousands of miles away from Meek Mill as she performed in South Africa, but she was clearly feeling him when she asked the crowd to help her send a loud message back home. Read more: http://www.tmz.com/#ixzz43lqIOGfb Despite reports that their relationship was crumbling, all signs point to it being back on track with Nicki making a powerful statement with the help of all her fans sending a message of love to Meek all the way from South Africa. She even played a montage for him A fan shared an instagram post of the moment below:

  12. As if you didn't have another reason to be jealous of Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande, here's one! Harry Styles has written songs for both singers, and now he's at it again. According to the "All About That Bass" singer, this isn't the last you've heard of Hazza's songwriting skills. The One Direction is penning tracks for both of them. Looks like he's going to make Ariana cry again! "We have mutual friends – he's signed to CAA like me and Adele. CAA do everything, movies, sport, and are kind people, they nurture your career and he will be huge," she told the Daily Star. "Harry is killing it out here in the US, songwriting for Ariana Grande and myself — he's really talented. I can't wait to hear what he's got going." Source
  13. With the official performer bill now complete, attention will begin shifting to confirmed presenters for this Monday’s Grammy Awards ceremony. Some of those confirmed presenters were revealed Monday morning. Names set to appear in that capacity include rising country star (and Grammy nominee) Cam, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande. Cam personally confirmed the news in an Instagram post. Ice Cube and his son O’Shea Jackson, Jr. are also reportedly set to present at the show. The report aligns with producer Ken Ehrlich’s publicly disclosed plans to give “Straight Outta Compton” representation on the show. CBS’ broadcast of the 58th Annual Grammy Awards airs at 8PM ET on February 15. Source
