  15. https://www.popdust.com/kesha-animal-decade-2643580305.html In 2008, an unknown singer by the name of Kesha Sebert was summoned to sing the brief female hook for what would become a No. 1 hit. This song was called "Right Round" by Flo Rida, and it topped the charts for six consecutive weeks. Kesha—comically stylized as Ke$ha at the time—was uncredited on the track in the U.S., and critics denounced it for its hokey sample and crass sexual innuendos. But her success wasn't hindered; she swiftly landed a record deal with RCA after "Right Round" dropped, at last given the foundation she deserved to pump out a No. 1 hit (or three) of her own. Prior to her collaboration with Flo Rida, Kesha had already been hustling for quite a while. She spent seven years writing over 200 songs that'd eventually be whittled down for her debut album, Animal, which turned ten years old this week. Before "Right Round," she'd been heavily active in the pop music sphere, working on songs with Britney Spears and appearing in the music video for her friend Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl." And songwriting was in Kesha's DNA: Her mom, Pebe Sebert, wrote Joe Sun's "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" in the '70s, which would be covered by Dolly Parton and become a hit. With the release of her breakout single, "Tik Tok," a new patron saint of partying had arrived. Kesha came up with the idea for "Tik Tok" after half-drunkenly stumbling home from a night out. Her living situation at the time was a house in L.A.'s Laurel Canyon, where she crashed with a constantly-rotating cast of bohemian roommates. "I woke up one day after we went to a party, and I was surrounded by ten of the most beautiful women you've ever seen," she told Esquire of "Tik Tok"'s conception. Which is to say: She woke up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy. Theres a LOT more but my phone is too slow to copy and paste more.

  18. Hey, I want to make a playlist of so called “feel good” songs - you know, kind of songs you play in the morning while making yourself a hot tea/coffee/breakfast et cetera. All recommendations are welcome although indie/alternative vibe would be more appreciated! Examples:
  19. What's the last song you listened to/plan to in 2019 and the first in 2020?
  20. Every decade seems to have those particular artists/albums/songs that are considered staples of the time period and a lot of the GP remember/know about. What would you say are some of the classics that are gonna be considered “so 2010s” in 10, 20, 30 years from now? Examples: 80s - Madonna, MJ, Prince, Thriller, Africa by Toto 90s - Jagged Little Pill, Nirvana, grunge, Mariah, Baby One More Time, I Will Always Love You.. etc etc etc
  21. 2009 was one of the greatest years in pop music. Britney's comeback was in full force. Katy Perry and Taylor Swift were breaking onto the scene. Beyonce began cementing herself as the greatest living entertainer in music. Lady Gaga turned the world upside down. With such a flawless year behind us, the 2010's seemed promising and started off with a big, colorful BANG as these pop queens served us hit after hit. Then, everything changed - Soundcloud, Tumblr, and Spotify brought us new ways to discover, share, and consume music. Instead of the artists we were once marketed and given to us on the radio started wearing now that we had the ability, freedom, and exposure to choose the music we listened to and as a result, many new artists began filling up the charts and our last fm scrobbles. 2009 was the year I started posting on here (before the first hack) and now here I am 10 years later, with much different musical preferences than I had as a young twink. The 2010's introduced me to so many different artists, genres, and sounds it is hard for me to pinpoint the music that really impacted me. While artists I entered with such as Taylor, Katy, and Beyonce shaped a lot of my listening habits this past decade, I was blessed to live through such a rich period of music. Today I am going to share with you the 100 albums that captured my attention and admiration this past decade - a little bit of pop, a little bit country, and a little bit of rock n roll (or what's left of it). Enjoy! #100-76 #75-51 #50-#26 #25 - #11 #10-#1
