"German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday said the populist hope to “return to a small world” would not benefit society, instead calling for openness and acceptanceduring a speech to church leaders in Würzburg, Germany. The address was one of the first Merkel gave this year. While it didn’t specifically address the election of U.S. President Donald Trump, it was a pointed remark about the spread of nationalism in America, Britain and across Europe that’s already begun to undermine international accords and threaten efforts to deal with the ongoing migrant crisis. “We won’t g

"Harry Potter" fans have had it good the last couple of years, with lots of new Potter-centric content to devour from a wealth of sources, including fan site Pottermore, the new prequel flick "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (and its four upcoming sequels), and the sequel play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." This kid’s spelling skills are bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. New Yorker and Gwen Stefani mega-fan Norah shared a video Thursday of her 5-year-old son, Max, writing his first word: “bananas." And as he writes each letter, it’s clear where he got the word from: Stefani’s catchy-to-a-fault 2004 song "Hollaback Girl.” “This year, because of Gwen’s tour, I played even more music and he got really into it,” Norah told Mashable. “‘Hollaback Girl’ is by far his favorite song.” (A great choice, Max.) “Max started kindergarten this year and he’s learning to read and write,” she con

Tilikum, an orca that killed a trainer at SeaWorld Orlando in 2010, has died. SeaWorld said in a statement posted online that Tilikum died Friday.
