Trump’s enhanced competitiveness reflects consolidation in his support since his primary opponents dropped out, and it comes despite significant challenges to his candidacy. Fifty-eight percent of Americans call him unqualified to be president, 60 percent see him unfavorably overall, 76 percent think he doesn’t show enough respect for those he disagrees with and 64 percent say he should release his tax returns (with most feeling strongly about it). These include majorities of registered voters on each item, representing opportunities for Clinton. Republicans and Republican-leaning indepen

Politics Trump calls Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas"
Reputation posted a topic in World News & Discussion
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said she was 1/32 Cherokee Indian when pandering on the campaign trail a couple years ago, and it worked. She became a senator. Donald Trump poked fun at Warren today in what was probably the best way possible. The GOP front-runner now has a third nickname for Warren, again a reference to her supposed Native American ancestry: “Pocahontas.” In a new interview with Maureen Dowd, when asked about Elizabeth Warren’s tirade against him on social media, Trump said “You mean Pocahontas?” Source -
The impeachment this week of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff represents the most significant test for Brazil’s institutions since the end of its military dictatorship in 1985. After the Senate voted Thursday to begin an impeachment trial of the country’s first female president, less than halfway through her second term in office, one politician described the events as representing the “saddest day for Brazil’s young democracy.”[1] Since the post-dictatorship transition, impeachment requests have been filed against each and every one of Brazil’s presidents, but none were carried through.[2]

The ever defiant Socialist Senator of Vermont, Bernie Sanders, today lambasted the presumptive Democratic Nominee, Hillary Clinton. In short, Sanders pronounced to his legion of followers that the nomination of Hillary Clinton would prove to a "disaster" for the Democratic Party. While it's not quite clear how the dynamic of the general election would play out, Sanders is pointing to several national polls, as well as dozens of state-by-state polls in the critical battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida which have Mrs. Clinton tied, or behind Mr. Trump in average polling.

Sadiq Khan has been elected the new Mayor of London - boosting Labour after it slumped in Scotland's elections. The lone protest of a woman defying a march of 300 uniformed neo-Nazis is set to become an iconic image of resistance to the rise of the far-right in Scandinavia. A photograph of Tess Asplund, 42, with fist raised against the leadership of the Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) in Borlänge, central Sweden, on Sunday has gone viral in the country. “It was an impulse. I was so angry, I just went out into the street,” Asplund told the Guardian. “I was thinking: hell no, they can’t march here! I had this adrenaline. No Nazi is going to march here, it’s not okay.” After joining a large

Ted Cruz Ends His Campaign for President INDIANAPOLIS — Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is ending his presidential campaign, according to his campaign manager, bowing to the reality that his crushing loss in Indiana all but assured the nomination of Donald J. Trump. Mr. Cruz, who staked his bid in the Republican race on a message of conservative purity and religious faith, had suffered through weeks of setbacks as the primary calendar reached the Northeast, where Mr. Trump significantly expanded his lead. But the senator had hoped to find more favorable terrain in Indiana, dashing acro

The Vermont Senator has pulled it off in Indiana, winning the Hoosier State . For all intents and purposes, Bernie has been eliminated from winning the Democratic Nomination for President - however, he and his cabal of very vocal supporters, remain defiant and in the face of this win - there are rumors that Sanders and his wing of the party will go on to issue a challenge to Clinton in Philadelphia. Many pundits doubt that this will be able to happen, as the vast majority of the Super Delegates to the Democratic National Convention have remained and will remain beholden to the pres

The 2016 Indiana Primaries are rapidly coming along and the final result of not just this primary, but the entire primary election in both parties. Mr. Donald Trump has won Indiana handily, defeating his religious zealot of an opponent, Texas Senator Ted Cruz. It appears that Trump has fought the Republican Establishment and consulting class into submission - and though he will end tonight with somewhere north of 1,050 delegates to the Republican National Committee - he only requires 41% of the remaining delegates. With a landslide victory in New Jersey almost assured and the latest

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and zodiac killer Republican Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) have been mathematically eliminated from winning their parties Presidential Nominations outright, with tonight's series of victories the final nail in the coffin for Sanders in this election cycle. While Sanders, unlike Cruz, cannot technically be mathematically kicked out of the running - in order for him to win, he would need to win every single one of the 1,303 remaining delegates - needing an impossible 100% of the delegates. His rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton only requires 241 mo

Clinton plans to stay focused, primary by primary, to the very end. Next week is the Indiana pri

Last Sunday, Searcy Hayes was an unknown 21-year-old from Natchez, Mississippi. By Monday night, she was a viral sensation after viewers of the Maury Povich show decided she was the female doppelganger of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz. Hayes went on the show after her fiance, 25-year-old Freddie Green, accused her of cheating on him. All was resolved in typical Maury fashion when she passed a lie detector test and DNA results showed her 3-month-old son was Green’s. Since the appearance, numerous websites have printed side-by-side photos showing Hayes next to Cruz.

The Messiah of the American Millennial Generation has vowed to continue on. After suffering, what has been seen by many, as its biggest and final defeat at the hands of the Clinton Political Machine on their mutual home turf of New York (with Clinton winning her home state by 16 points) - Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) sent a mailer out to his supporters today, vowing to continue the fight to the Democratic National Convention: Most political commentators pronounced Sanders loss in New York last night as the final nail in his coffin (with all of the Delegates to the DNC add

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump appeared to mistakenly invoke the convenience store 7-Eleven when discussing the September 11, 2001, terror attacks during a Monday rally. Trump was speaking to a crowd in Buffalo, New York, on the eve of the state's primary. He praised the way in which New York City dealt with the worst terrorist attack to ever hit American soil. "I wrote this out, and it's very close to my heart," Trump said. "Because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7-Eleven, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down. And I saw the

Germany will allow prosecution of comedian who mocked Turkey's leader, but up to courts to decide, Merkel says. "The courts will have the final word," she told reporters. But Germany will now move to repeal a section of the penal code which criminalises alleged insults of foreign leaders, she said. Turkey asked Germany to prosecute comedian Jan Boehmermann, who crudely mocked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The next legal move is not yet clear. BBC
