Hunters is on prime now! Description: Nazi hunters discover hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials in 1977 New York City, conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S.; the Hunters set out to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans. I like it so far, though the Holocaust throwback trigger me harder than I thought. Kinda love the idea of revenge.

  6. Months after the 25th anniversary of its launch, the cast of the iconic comedy series Friends is expected to get together for an unscripted reunion special. It will help launch the upcoming streaming platform HBO Max, where the Friends library is one of the main attractions. Following tough negotiations, I hear Friends stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry have reached an agreement in principle with series’ producer Warner Bros. TV to do what I hear would be an hourlong special. No one would comment, but I hear each of the six stars will be paid in the $3 million-$4 million range for appearing in the special. The total spent on talent in the special, said to be about $20 million, is in line with what Netflix has been shelling out for top comedians to headline hourlong specials, including Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Ellen DeGeneres and Amy Schumer. After some early back-and-forth between the cast’s representatives, WBTV and HBO Max last fall, the negotiations came to a standstill at the end of 2019, with the actors and Warner Bros. TV far apart on money. The impasse lasted several weeks, prompting HBO Max’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Reilly to be very cautious when asked about the status of the special on January 15 during TCA. “There is interest all around, and yet we can’t get the interests all alighted to push the button on it,” Reilly said at the time. “Today it’s just maybe.” Negotiations resumed shortly thereafter, with the two sides able to bridge the compensation gap and make a deal. A cryptic tweet by Perry earlier this week whipped fans into a frenzy that the special might be announced soon. The special, in which co-creators/executive producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane are expected to have some involvement, is designed to help launch Friends reruns on HBO Max. The streamer shelled out $425 million for rights to the hugely popular sitcom, which has emerged as one of Netflix’s biggest hits. Friends has been in the zeitgeist with the worldwide celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary. Aniston’s selfie with her Friends co-stars Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Schwimmer set a Guinness World Record for the fastest to reach 1 million followers, underscoring just how hugely popular the show continues to be, During a Friends 25th anniversary panel at Tribeca TV Festival in September, Kauffman and Crane shut the door on possible reboot or scripted reunion that would revisit the characters and stories from the hit series. “We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Kauffman said. “The show was about that time in life when friends are your family,” she explained, adding that life changes when your family becomes your family. And a reboot? No. “It’s not going to beat what we did,” Kauffman said. Added Crane: “We did the show we wanted to do. We got it right, and we put a bow on it.” https://deadline.com/2020/02/friends-reunion-special-hbo-max-cast-deals-1202852347/
  7. Disney Plus’ “Star Wars” original spinoff series “The Mandalorian” is returning for Season 2 in October, said Disney chief Bob Iger on the company’s earnings call Tuesday. Iger also floated the possibility of infusing “The Mandalorian” with more characters and taking their “stories in new directions,” nodding to potential for spinoff series. The move to create original series for the streamer has paid off, in Iger’s view. He told analysts on the call that 65% of Disney Plus subscribers who had watched “The Mandalorian” had watched at least 10 other things on the service. https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/disney-plus-mandalorian-season-2-october-wandavision-falcon-winter-soldier-premiere-1203492958/

  9. Marvel’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will premiere in August, while “WandaVision” will make its debut on the streaming service in December. The move to create original series for the streamer has paid off, in Iger’s view. He told analysts on the call that 65% of Disney Plus subscribers who had watched “The Mandalorian” had watched at least 10 other things on the service. “The decision that we made to go with quality and not just volume is working,” he said on the call. Iger added that the company is working on plan to expand Hulu internationally in 2021 but at the moment, Disney Plus is a “priority.” “We had a strong first quarter, highlighted by the launch of Disney+, which has exceeded even our greatest expectations,” said Iger in the earnings report. “Thanks to our incredible collection of brands, outstanding content from our creative engines and state-of-the-art technology, we believe our direct-to-consumer services, including Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu, position us well for continued growth in today’s dynamic media environment.” https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/disney-plus-mandalorian-season-2-october-wandavision-falcon-winter-soldier-premiere-1203492958/

  12. The voice actor is stepping away from a character who has been criticized as a racial stereotype, but it is unclear whether the convenience-store owner is being erased from the cartoon. Hank Azaria said he will no longer provide the voice on “The Simpsons” for the convenience-store owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, whose thick accent and penny-squeezing ways have led to criticism that the character was a racist stereotype. It was not clear what Mr. Azaria’s decision, first reported on Friday by the website Slashfilm, meant for Apu, which Mr. Azaria had voiced since the character was created in 1990. The producers of “The Simpsons” and Fox, its network, would not comment on whether Apu would get a new voice or perhaps be retired from the show. In 2017, the comedian Hari Kondabolu’s documentary “The Problem With Apu” forced Mr. Azaria, who is white, to reckon with his portrayal of the Kwik-E-Mart owner who speaks with a pronounced Indian accent. The film attempted to trace the origin story of Apu and put the character in a broader context of Hollywood depictions of Indians. In the documentary, Mr. Kondabolu, who is of South Asian descent, called Apu “a white guy doing an impression of a white guy making fun of my father.” Others featured in the film recounted how the character Apu provided bullies with fodder when they were young. Mr. Kondabolu and Mr. Azaria weren’t able to agree on a way for the voice actor to participate in an interview for the documentary, but Mr. Azaria was faced with even more questions after its debut. Mr. Kondabolu, a lifelong lover of “The Simpsons,” said in a series of tweets on Friday that his documentary was not intended to result in the removal of Apu as a character but to start a discussion about race and representation. He said that he hopes the show keeps Apu in the fictional town of Springfield. “Let a very talented writing staff do something interesting with him,” Mr. Kondabolu said. Alluding to some of the Apu-defending vitriol that met his film, he added: “If not to better the show, then to at least spare me some death threats.” In reaction to the growing controversy around the character, Mr. Azaria said two years ago that he found the situation “upsetting” and that the documentary gave the show “a lot of things to think about.” Months later, Mr. Azaria said in an interview with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” that he would be “perfectly willing and happy to step aside” from the character or “help transition it into something new.” “The idea that anyone, young or old, past or present, was bullied or teased based on the character of Apu, it just really makes me sad,” said Mr. Azaria, who also voices other characters on the cartoon, like Moe the bartender and Police Chief Wiggum. “It was certainly not my intention. I wanted to spread laughter and joy.” The show itself has not expressed any misgivings. “The Simpsons” addressed the controversy dismissively in a 2018 episode in which Lisa Simpson, the character who is the show’s moral center, spoke directly to the viewer and said: “Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?” As Lisa glanced at a picture of Apu, her mother Marge Simpson said, “Some things will be dealt with at a later date.” Lisa added, “If at all.” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/17/arts/television/apu-simpsons-hank-azaria.html

  14. I asked permission to create this thread in spite of an old one existing in a status update, and since I received no reply from the mods I take their answer to be "who cares, weirdo? It's just a thread", which is close enough to yes for me! To ensure this does not get merged, this is gonna be a really kickass OP... Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "the Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, to all appearances human, from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes while working to save civilisations and help people in need. William Hartnell (1963–1966) Patrick Troughton (1966–1969) Jon Pertwee (1970–1974) Tom Baker (1974–1981) Peter Davison (1982–1984) Colin Baker (1984–1986) Sylvester McCoy (1987–1989) Paul McGann (1996) Christopher Eccleston (2005) David Tennant (2005–2010) Matt Smith (2010–2013) Peter Capaldi (2014–2017) Jodie Whittaker (2018–present) Full list of stories: https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_television_stories And to take a book from the page of that Harry Potter thread, I'll ask some standard questions to get the ball rolling (if need be, don't feel the need to answer all of these if you don't want to): Favorite Doctor? First episode you saw? How many Doctors have you seen? Favorite companion? Favorite recurring villain(s)? Favorite one-off villain? Favorite episodes?
