I actually picked that issue up at the Safeway that spring, when I was just 14.

 

Must have looked at it every single day until the summer came along and so did Playboy.   1985 was an incredible year -- HANDS DOWN, THE BEST! -- to be a fan of the Queen.

 

She was on magazine covers every week.   Even TV Guide.

I guess I don't remember the People cover. I had my stepfather buy the Penthouse and Playboy copies, way back when. He was so proud. And to think Vanessa Williams had to give up her crown, and Madonna simply shrugged it off and began down the road to earn her crown. 

 

I had to google search the covers, but the Penthouse 1985 is what I thought this was:

and not only in the US but all over the world. To be a global superstar before the digital era is why she is the queen      gaga13
