How the PRISM era should've been

Recommended Posts

This is how the PRISM era should've been like:

1) Roar (August 2013)

2) Unconditionally (October 2013)

3) Dark Horse (December 2013)

4) Walking On Air (April 2014)

5) Ghost (September 2014)

6) Legendary Lovers (February 2015)

7) By The Grace Of God (June or July 2015)

I am still pressed that the era didn't went like this fall3 I still cry over it all the time sob1 sob1 sob1 I just can't help it cry4.gif' alt='cry3'> she should've released Birthday and This Is How We Do and their lyric videos and music videos as just fan favorite and promo singles instead. Imagine the slayage cry5 I guess that if Walking On Air was released as a single, it would've had over 8 million sales WW, 8 times Platinum certification from RIAA, #2 position as peak on Billboard Hot 100 and 29 weeks in top 10, 67 weeks in Billboard Hot 100 overall, 140-200 million streams in Spotify, and 300-400 million views on YouTube and VEVO. Ghost would've had 3-4 million sales WW, 6 times Platinum certification from RIAA, #5 position as peak on Billboard Hot 100 and 12 weeks in top 10, 23 weeks in Billboard Hot 100 overall, 50-130 million streams in Spotify, and 95-200 million views on YouTube and VEVO. Legendary Lovers would've had over 9 million sales WW, Diamond certification from RIAA, #1 (for 3 weeks) as peak on Billboard Hot 100 and 18 weeks in top 10, 54 weeks in Billboard Hot 100 overall, 200-300 million streams in Spotify, and 900 million-1 billion views on YouTube and VEVO. By The Grace Of God would've had over 6 million sales WW, 7 times Platinum certification from RIAA, #2 position as peak on Billboard Hot 100 and 18 weeks in top 10, 44 weeks in Billboard Hot 100 overall, 80-150 million streams in Spotify, and 80-550 million views on YouTube and VEVO.

Katy could've also performed Birthday in the Asian leg of The Prismatic World Tour like how she did in BBC Radio 1 performance of The PWT. She could've also brought The PWT to Middle East (5 shows), Russia (2 shows), Turkey (1 show), and Africa (2 shows) throughout this month, July, and August too. Oh and it would be PERFECT if Katy mixed & performed Double Rainbow and Ghost together in all shows of The PWT (like how she did it with the This Moment/Love Me or The One That Got Away/Thinking Of You & This Is How We Do - TGIF - This Is How We Do) and had FIREWORKS while she performed Firework & still had the Peacock interlude in the new version of The PWT.

PRISM had so much potential and it was a great era, however, it could've been ICONIC and LEGENDARY (like Teenage Dream, or even better cry5) if it was treated well, but somehow Katy and her record label and team decided to SABOTAGE this era's success and pay dust to it.

But it had a such a beautiful music video.

It was cute, and the best of the PRISM era IMO, but it should've been saved as one of the last singles. The whole era was such a mess even when the album artwork was unveiled. Messy performances, messy music videos, messy releases and single choices cry4 thank god Super Bowl salvaged it because she really hurt me this era, you're right, it could have been so much better cry1

It could've been MUCH BETTER cry1

But at what cost? Katy spent a LOT of her planning time this era on the super bowl. She started planning that a year in advance. If we got more attention paid on promo for singles, we may not have gotten that performance. or maybe it would have resulted in a less spectacular tour set. you don't know what would be sacrificed in order to execute other things. I think the era was handled great, and we saw some huge milestones in her career this era. I don't think it does any good to focus on what could have been in your own personal version of a perfect scenario. just be happy with what Katy delivered.

She could've just had her record label releasing and promoting those singles while she and her team focused on the tour and SuperBowl.

But Katy would never do that. Katy is involved in every aspect of her career, and doesn't do shit just to get a hit. She's invested in her career and cares about the output.

OMG, you're right! I guess I was so into Katy having a perfect era and getting the success and praise that she deserves, that I ultimately forgot that she is not a sell out and is the boss and the CEO of her career and team and had complete and full control over her career, image, and music in all directions and invests in them, and cares about the output and input.

Yeah there was no way she was going to or ever will top the TD era I've accepted that tbh.

Howeverrrrr if she wanted to it should have been

1. Roar - Aug 2013

2. Dark Horse - November 2013

3. Legendary Lovers - Late Feb 2013

4. Birthday - June 2013

5. This Is How We Do - End of summer 2013

6. Walking On Air - Fall 2013

Dark Horse totally overshadowed Uncondtionally and Birthday. I think if Dark Horse was released as the second single it would have smashed even harder. Unconditionally is a great song but I don't think single material compared to other album cuts.

I really think LL would have been a big hit, especially after DH died down. Had Birthday been released later and had a better video it would have performed better as well.

Unconditionally got the kind of attention that she put into it because it was her favorite song on the album. she promoted the hell out of it because she loved it and she wanted to give it everything she had. the fact that it didn't do so well on the charts probably doesn't really matter much to her, because she executed it exactly how she wanted to. So re-imagining the era without that song as a single would be re-imagining an era that Katy wouldn't have wanted, anyway. And even if it wasn't as huge as people maybe expected from her after the success of Teenage Dream, it was still a HUGE success by other terms, and I think it was a personal success for Katy because she got to do things she'd never gotten to do before, and she got to call the shots on things. It was her most personal era, and it showed in the decisions that were made for it. that is worth 1000 #1 hits in my book.

Well PRISM era was a smash, but it's true, it vould have done A LOT better.

The first 3 singles are perfect, don't try to take Uncle out of the ecuation cuz it was flawless!

It started to get messy once she announced Birthday as the next single! Firstly, it was WAY TOO EARLY! Dark Horse was smashing hard even at that time, she should have waited until late May or early June to release another song. Secondly, I think Walking On Air would have done much better with a great video, even maybe #1, but Birthday had potential too. There you have another potentially summer song.

Secondly, what's with that "she prepared the superbowl for a year?" It was officially announced in September if I'm not wrong so she knew by August. She did have time for another single, even if she didn't plan to promote it the Unconditionally way.

Legendary Lovers in late August or early September would have smashed for sure, even go #1 if executed right and an epic music video.

This would have raised her nominations and chances for winning at the Grammys as well!

But I'm happy with what we've got anyways katy3.gif' alt='katy2'>
