Kiss Me Once era: a graveyard of missed opportunities

Recommended Posts

So, Kylie pretty well delivered a year and a half ago when she put out Kiss Me Once. But did she miss some opportunities there? I personally think so, and I'm wondering what you guys think.

Someone of Kylie's standing should have been taking more risks there. The riskiest promo was the Sexercise video (weren't we supposed to get like 5 more of those...?) and it was fairly tame by today's standards, despite being amazing.

And then there were the single choices. Million Miles and Les Sex were obvious contenders, but no.

Parlophone released I Was Gonna Cancel, which ngl had really good video potential. However, they fucked that up too: I was expecting neon retro slayage but instead got a car insurance commercial.

And then Parlophone released Beautiful. Need I say more?

So what are your biggest gripes with Kiss Me Once, a year and a half later now that the era is dead and you don't have to pretend it's the album of the decade?

The album should have never existed tbh eevee.gif

The single choices were questionable, the videos were boring, the tracklist was messy (I mean, making the best song off the entire era a ITB b-side and forgetting about Skirt?) and the music itself was simply not good eevee.gif

It could've been handled better but it still wouldn't do wonders. Kylord redeemed herself with Sleepwalker EP a biT though eevee.gif

The tracklist of the album was godawful. Nearly all the outtakes and bonus tracks would've made it more interesting and experimental, as releases go. An album with Waiting 4 The Sun, Skirt, Voodoo, Sparks and Mr. President would've certainly been better than the final product of Kiss Me Once.

KMO was a mess. A terrible album, an awful management, shit styling and imaginery, the voice uk AND australia. It's only saving grace is the SLEEPWALKER EP and the tour tbh and even that had a flawed setlist.

KMO and ITB are bops tho
