Homosexuality can be a choice for some, quite honestly. It's a mix of genetic predisposition and the way your environment influences you from childhood-adulthood. Since this a song about BISEXUALITY it's fairly accurate to be talking about a choice. Then again, a lot of gay/lesbian people only started to realize they were homosexual when they first kissed a guy/girl and had the direct comparison.

Umm how does that make it a choice? Homosexuality can never be a choice for anyone at all. Choosing to sleep with/date the same sex doesn't make you homosexual; being attracted to them does. 

 

If you're bisexual you're attracted to both genders. You can have a preference but it doesn't ever "feel so wrong" like Katy claims. Katy explicitly says that she's kissing this girl because of the thrill (You're my experimental game) that she's actually attracted to men. This song is the national anthem of the 'homosexuality is a choice club'.

It’s kind of like Alanis Morisette’s “You Oughta Know,” that influenced me so much. I wrote about something very specific and personal to my life. People relate to songs, but this is about my one specific situation.

 

TNG: Have you heard from the guy you wrote it about?

KP: He’s heard it, i think he’s OK, we’re friends. It was a snapshot of an emotion and whatever I was feeling, I’m over it. I’ve moved on in life. Now I’m on to kissing girls.

KP: I love my men. I’m not a lesbian, but I can appreciate the beauty of women. That’s what the song is about: me opening up a magazine and seeing Scarlet Johansen and saying “if she wanted to to kiss me I wouldn’t say no.”

Now I was 11 in 2009 so I didn't care about anything related to pop culture but if she debuted now I would think the same. I also see Katy in the same way, I find OOTB to be kinda basic but she evolved a lot during the TD era. All the TD videos were top notch and anything but basic, and the music was fairly solid. Just goes to show you shouldn't judge who someone truly is as an artist by their debut.
