Michelle Obama Sweeps the Floor at the DNC: Makes Everyone Weep With Her Grace and Eloquence

PHILADELPHIA ― First lady Michelle Obama on Monday asked Americans to decide who they want serving as a role model for their children ― Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.

This election, Obama said during her speech at the Democratic National Convention, “is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives.”

She juxtaposed Clinton and Donald Trump: “I want a president who will teach our children that everyone in this country matters.

“I want a president with a record of public service, someone whose life work shows our children that we don’t seek fame and fortune for ourselves.”

Obama talked about her daughters and the joy of watching “two young black women playing on the White House lawn,” and choked up as she noted that we “now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States.”

She also seemed to give a nod to disgruntled Bernie Sanders supporters, noting Clinton’s loss to her husband in 2008. “Hillary knows this is so much bigger than her own desires and disappointments.”

The crowd waved purple signs that read simply, “Michelle.”
