So why did Rise flop?

Recommended Posts

It was a new single from a major pop girl who was just coming back from a BIG era.

And yet,the song flopped in sales and streaming which is surprising from Katy who is a pretty huge streaming artist.

Yes,it is a side-single but so is CSTF not to mention Rise was getting a similar treatment that a lead single.

Despite all the hype with the olympics,it didn't help

Maybe it just doesn't appeal to her demographic?

or

people aren't here for Katy anymore?

Discuss.

It's doing fine but is definitely one of her worst selling singles. But that's obviously because it's not the typical Katy Song. It's different from what people expected and I guess the GP wasn't here for it. But that could also be a good thing considering that she still works on her album and maybe that leads to more changes being done to the album. Maybe she was just testing out how the GP would treat songs like this from her.

So she'll have to stick with the Roar formula her whole career?

because the song itself is kind of lackluster and not different from what she's used to making. also since its not a lead single, it was never promoted as such. it doesn't mean she's "over" like everyone keeps saying though dead2 the official lead single from KP4 will still probably do well so it doesnt make sense to get our kii's over a buzz single that still went top 20 dead2

Rise's peak: #11

Make Me's Peak: #17

That still doesn't mean it didn't flop but ok,just another predictable response. dead1

At the end of the day they both ended up being top 20 hits,it's not like Rise was any different from MM. dead1

she performed it at DNC and broke NBC's exclusivity and as a result they didn't play the song.
