Duffy is going to SMASH fat flump Adele out of the game 2016/2017

Duffy is working on new material and wants to ''reclaim her place'' on the charts next to Adele, who she was compared to when the two emerged and released their debut albums 'Rockferry' and '19' at the same time in 2008.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Duffy is working on new material with her sights set on a major comeback in 2016. She wants to reclaim her place among the likes of Adele in the music industry.''

Adele better watch her fat ass. Duffy is a much better singer and has a nicer tone.

2016/2017 and Adele is going to be a washed up whale, instead of swimming happily in the ocean like she is now.

Are you forgetting that Duffy's second album flopped for filth and basically removed all the good faith she'd built up, while Adele's second album is one of the highest selling and most successful albums of the millennium? dead2

On the basis of the UK alone, which is Duffy's only real market at this point, 21 did 5 million and 25 did 3 million.

Where as Duffy's second album only did about 200k in the UK

I hope the OP isn't serious dead2

It was because she tried to commercialise herself and went with her label's shitty advice, she was forced into doing things she didn't want. Her debut album was more genuine and she spent more time on it, she has been putting the same effort and the same originality into this record it would seem since she's been penning songs while on her hiatus so they should be perfected 10 times over.

Her debut did over 2million so it's not like she can't get sales, a lot of artists have a flop era then smash back, Madonna, Mariah, etc. all the greats have had flop eras

Okay, but there is really no chance of her seeing the same success she had in 2008 again. That was almost a decade ago and she's been absent from the public consciousness since. Conversely, Adele has been consistently releasing new music and racking up hits like nobody's business since her 2008 debut. That's why she can still sell in the millions today. Duffy simply cannot, especially given the state of the music industry right now.

True.

But in 2016, it's very hard to get an album to sell well unless you have a massive global fanbase.

The 25 album has done 20 million WW since November, it's approaching 21 million.

Sure, Duffy might have a bit of a comeback, and who knows, she might pop again and have a decent selling album, but it's not going to knock Adele out of the game.

Well she is also a Grammy award winner so she can get critical success too.

Britain is such a contradiction. First, it supports amazing artists who never get their due in US (Kylie). On the other hand, it frequently abandons good artists in favour of grandma music by Celine, Adele and Susan Boyle jj4

I don't believe Mel C's last 7 albums didn't even sell a thousand copies or so jj4

Mel C is a pretentious little freak, I can't stand her so she has been deserving to flop IMO. She is also a lesbian in denial, just like Mel B. But hm yeah I don't know Duffy has a warm personality and comes across as very genuine, I feel Brits will have her back with open arms and give her success again.
