All of the britney era singles + me against the music had a valid reason to flop and it was because of the radio ban britney had at that time 

Outrageous got no promo at all because she broke her knee which scrapped the mv , the VMA performance ( that was rumored ) & it being on the soundtrack of cat woman 

 break the ice barely got promo too because britney never performed it live until recently

"She had never flopped before." indicates that. I really don't mean to be rude but he was using past perfect which is a tense that indicates something happened before a reference point in the past (the Bionic era being that reference point). He clearly stated in his post that Bionic got so much attention for being a flop because she had never flopped before that and that is true. If he said "she has never flopped", he would be indicating that she never flopped in the past and still hasn't flopped to this very day which is NOT true. 

I don't blame you, though...English tenses are a bitch for non-natives (I've had my issues with them too trust me) but he was not lying or being delusional. What he said was true.

 

In regards to Britney's singles:

Back then most artists didn't promote their singles as much as they do now. You really can't compare those eras with how the industry works now. Britney was simply more successful single-wise in Europe and other parts of the world than she was in the US. The GP doesn't KNOW about album sales. Flop singles are more apparent to them. Christina had the upper hand in the US for a long time. When Bionic came around, she was seen as a Gaga wannabe and her music was once again extremely different from her previous eras. She tried to appeal to audiences that were all up Gaga's ass at that time. That's why she flopped and that's why it got so much attention.

Britney's meltdown was the most attention she got since her first two eras and had it not been for that, she probably would have flopped even sooner. People felt sorry for her and were scared she was gonna die. Her recovery was celebrated so much that it gave her a new career peak before flopping EXTREMELY once again.

This is inaccurate.

Britney was already very popular before the breakdown. People were craving for infos, rumors, candids, etc. eversince 2001 when she broke up with Justin. It's no wonder that she was one of the most followed celebrities at the time, people WANTED to know everything there is to know about her, otherwise, why would tabloids invest so much and hire a lot of paps to follow her 24/7 if it's not gonna sell? And it didn't lessen at all when she went on a hiatus in 2004, they followed her even more.

Basically, the breakdown was caused by her high popularity. This means that she would've made a big comeback regardless.

Well, the singles from "Britney" + "Me Against The Music" had a reason for flopping, Britney was banned in radios in the US + I think her label on her first eras didn't sold too much physical copies of her singles because they wanted to focus on album sales which was a regular thing to do at that time hence the big album sales they had. And well the rest of the singles were never performed or promoted (Do Somethin' was performed for the first time ever in 2009, five years after the release) and you forgot "Slumber Party" at #88 ddd #JusticeforSP tbh!

 

I still think that if it weren't for that radio ban, Britney's singles would've done so much better and she would've gotten more #1s..
