First Listen: Like A Prayer

So I've never gotten through this album in fulldead2

The first few non-singles struck me as really dated and never caught my attention so I decided not to continue. But, as it is a quintessential Madonna album I feel like I should be familiar with it, so here it goes:

LAP: 9/10. Perfect example of a how great a simple pop song can be. One of the few Madonna songs imo where her tone doesn't sound grating and whiny and fits well. I just think it drags on a little long and I've always thought the guitar part at the beginning is jarring and unnecessary.

Up next: Express Yourself This Way!

Express Yourself: 5/10. So yeah I've never liked this songdead4 It's always struck me like she's singing through a bubble: her voice isn't at the forefront at all and the loud production doesn't help. Its also another song that drags on about half a minute too long.

My opinion is exactly opposite dead4

Guitar intro is like the highlight for me, it's dark and mysterious

Also, song is not really simple pop song tho dead4

-i think the main problem with LAP is that everything drags for too long

I mean it's not "simple" but it's not exactly revolutionary either on a structural leveljj2

Love Song: 5/10. I really cannot believe she thought she could stretch this out for almost 5 minutesmj1 It's got a pretty good groove that I do like, but the lyrics are kinda cheesy and the whole thing is just very dated. Whoever does the male background vocal (isn't that Prince? idekjj3) sounds kind of bad alsojj4
