Dear Jessie: 7.5/10. I like thisjj2 The lyrics are cute but get to be a little much at times (pink elephants and lemonade dear jessie hear the laughter running through the love paradesia4), I like the melody, and the clear Beatles influence is a nice reference

It was for Patrick Leonard's young daughter whom she met one day at the studio cry9

Oh Father: 6/10. Ok hear me outdead7 Technically it is a good song, but there are a few reasons why I can't really enjoy it: Madonna's vocals (i know she was going for emotional ballad vocal but there were a few parts that made me ari1), it gets repetitive and boring (a big epic bridge would've helped this), and AGAIN it drags on for much too long.

It's lullaby that she wrote to Patrick Lenard's daughter, she was with them in studio while they were working on this album. And it kinda inspired her to revisit her old days in Oh Father. That's why those 2 songs kinda blend into each other. One is about innocence of a  child and next one, well we know jj2

Pray For Spanish Eyes: 10/10. These are the ballads she excels in, slow building melodies that come to a climax. The lyrics are some of her best I've ever heard and I like how she went raspy. It's the only longer song on this album so far that doesn't feel like its holding on for dear life after about 3 minutes.

Act of Contrition: 10/10. Religion plays an important role throughout a lot of this album, so it's fitting that this song is the last. Her blending of a Biblical prayer with the electric guitars and rough sound is great and its one of those songs that takes you on a ride

So, in conclusion...

My faves are : LAP, Til Death Do Us Part, Pray For Spanish Eyes, Act of Contrition

Least faves: Express Yourself, Love Song, Oh Father, Cherish

Overall it's definitely a 7-8/10 but I would never put it at the same level as Bedtime Stories or Ray of Light (even AL). But it's definitely her best and least dated 80s album by a long shot and the highs are VERY high.
