Mariah was NEVER as good as her peers though. Compared to Celine, Whitney, Aretha she was always the weak link. Her belts sound incredible forced and her vocals are just really inconsistent overall. Guess why her vocals wore off so quickly? Oversinging. Singing in ranges that her vocal chords were not strong enough for.

also, Mariah has nodules, which she did not remove and they obviously affected her voice. Also, drinking and probably smoking. Celine's vocals are off too, but she lipsyncs most of the time, so still managed to save her vocals. Aretha sounds awful, and Whitney, well we know what happened there.

Madonna is not a vocalist and she sounds like a dying cat these days but she INSISTS on singing most songs live because she wants to be 100% authentic and she is! Mariah these days doesn't care about authenticity. She thinks she's SO GOOD even when lipsynching that she doesn't need to sing live (which she knows she can't anymore).

Mariah is a fake-ass diva who doesn't care about music as a socio-political medium and as an expression of art. That's something Madonna and Beyoncé do AND they make good music.
