I think what makes it confusing is the religions within them. I was watching this Vox video today and that area is just so problematic

That's partially why it's messy in the region, and frankly it's why the efforts of every colonial power that has tried to impose its will on the region has been met with near abject failure, Sunni and Shia Muslims have been fighting each other for thousands of years. The roots of that difference can be found at pretty much every single conflict and the rise of each para-military/terrorist organization.

It truly is a confusing cluster fuck.

I cannot stand it when people source poorly researched hit pieces.

I understand their motivation, but they clearly do not understand that the people that voted for Donald Trump already have no faith in the media, and with him spouting this narrative of fake news to them, articles that are clearly incorrect are used as proof that it actually is happening - and that cycle continues. If you're going to write one, make sure that it is totally above reproach, and completely and utterly correct. So Kellyanne Conway can't go on TV and tell everyone with that crazed look in her eye that they're all out to get President Trump.

Jesus fuck.

Is that so fucking hard to understand? We get it, he's a disaster as President, but don't write an article every time he breathes and fill it with lies.

You know, I keep wondering if he actually thinks it over or just stumbles along.

This non-accommodation, and virtual banning, of transgendered people from the military is the perfect story to get Democrats foaming at the mouth and distract people from Russian thing. He did the same thing during the campaign.

If he weren't such a lowdown piece of shit for it, I'd almost admire the strategy.

Okay, YES offense, why are there still some oppressed people who are surprised when the guy they voted for doesn't care about them? He never cared about you, he doesn't even care that you feel insulted by his new policies. He doesn't. And that's who you voted for: someone who goes against your own best interests. I wish you could've seen it when you were voting for him, and I'm really not sure why you couldn't because he wasn't subtle about it at all. He doesn't care about you, he doesn't care about any of us. And he never did.

I thought this was a good article, and sums up well that the Democratic Party ought to get their shit together quickly: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/king-democratic-party-doesn-unpopular-article-1.2993659

I fear that if you were to follow the guidance of the author of that article, the Democratic Party would become even more unpopular amongst the general voting electorate. With the way our system is set up, you can't govern the country with the consent of the three or four biggest populated states, you need the majority of all of the states. If this past election proves anything, it proves that the United States is still a center-right right country. Maybe more center than it was 20 years ago, but it is not on the left or even leaning left.

In 20 years with the full demographic shift, this might happen, but we can't wait that long.

Pivoting even further left will just destroy the party in every state but California and New York. They need to reach back into the center and try for that blue-collar New Democrat centrism that Bill Clinton perfected.

Instead of just going down the road that these millennial Democrats are leading the party, when they lead the party to its worst electoral defeat in a generation. The only thing stopping the Republicans is their own stupidity, but once they get over that, god help us all.

Or maybe Mr. King advocates that route, I don't know, when I saw his name I didn't read it rip4

Sorry dead2

I never even heard of him before this tbh, I'm not in full agreement with everything he says here but I thought he made a lot of good points in this article. Why don't you like him? Justified as it may be, criticising Trump is pretty easy and has cost him very few of his supporters, and unless they make some serious changes he's probably gonna win next time around too.

And that's the whole argument, do you further left than Hillary Clinton who lost all of the states that matter, or do you adopt the more centered approach of her husband who won all the states that matter.

I just saw this quote by Carson and pissed myself, this is such a 1000% rich babyboomer 'haves' thing to say, I fucking giveup2

"In keeping with his Seventh-day Adventist faith Carson announced in 2014 his belief, "that the United States will play a big role" in the coming apocalypse. He went on to say, "I hope by that time I'm not around anymore."

This is priceless kylie2

My fear is that in order to win, they really are gonna get some popular celebrity figure like The Rock or something in order to compete dead2 The guy who wrote The Art of the Deal running against The Scorpion King for president really would be a sign of the times.

Generally I agree, the problem with politics though is that if you let it consume your life too much, you'll end up so tense and stressed out that you'll just snap

I'm moreso speaking on general terms (albeit the thread did influence post a lot) that a lot of people abstain from politics just because its "drama" filled, when the rights of individuals are literal

Absolutely not. You are foolish if you seriously believe that the "alt-right / neonazi" are just a bunch of violent crazies who want to exterminate all but the white race. This kind of ignorance (and
