My thoughts are that his Chief of Staff is telling him to side with Democrats so it looks like he has a successful presidency and can win back over hesitant Democrat to trump voters.

Breaking with Republicans won't do him any bad since he won the election trashing them dead0

What do you think @Mamacita

I wouldn't underestimate it, from what I've seen, his core voting group isn't necessarily against this, so long as he doesn't give up on that wall.

From what I understand, Moderate Republicans seem to approve of this.

I think it's a gamble, and it's hard to see the exact extent of the damage (if it fails) - but the rewards are great if it succeeds.

I truly don't know what to make of it - I can't recall something like this happening since the founding of the Republic.

If it was a simple matter of just North Korea, it would be different - we could conquer that entire country in about a week, I would wager that half the population, and a quarter of the army would surrender to us for a hot meal. People always like to tout the devoutness of the North Koreans, and while that is certainly true for some, one has to remember that the side we see from the outside is choreographed  down to what style of hair the female minders would be wearing.

A vast majority of the population would give into us for the promise of mere food. Ever since the USSR fell, that country has been going through one hell of a famine, it's officially ended, but the fact remains that there isn't enough food produced to feed the entire population. Given the choice between fighting for the regime, and enjoying a nice meal of sticks and leaves, or surrendering to the west, for hot food, no amount of brainwashing could stop that.

If we wouldn't have to worry about hundreds of thousands of Chinese Soldiers streaming across the border in a bid to prop up the North Korean regime, we would have done this decades ago.

Not to mention the Russians, because if we enter into hostilities with them over this, that puts most of Eastern Europe in the crosshairs.

The way I see it, this cannot end good, lets just hope if it ends with war, it's not a Nuclear War.

NEW YORK—Trump administration officials said Saturday the U.S. wouldn’t pull out of the Paris Agreement, offering to re-engage in the international deal to fight climate change, according to multiple officials at a global warming summit.

The U.S. position on reviewing the terms of its participation in the landmark accord came during a meeting of more than 30 ministers led by Canada, China and the European Union in Montreal. In June, President Donald Trump said the U.S. would withdraw from the deal unless it could find more favorable terms.

Mess. Stupid ass Republicans still don't see that they voted in a con artist. eve1

I love that people are worried that Trump's speech will offend ordinary North Koreans - you, and three generations of your family are sent to a work camp and sentenced to years of hard labor if you deal with international media.

I bet you anything that they could give a shit.

Oh dear, sensetive old me spent the last two hours reading actual news, opinion pieces etc, instead of frivolous Buzzfeed titles; and now I'm slightly depressed moo4

How do you all people manage your news of the world anxiety? Do you build The Wall (tm) between yourself and the real world? Do you dive in into The Swamp (tm) of fucked up shit, and smoke pot/drink afterwards?

What's the cure for torturing yourself with the news?

I've asked myself this every single day for as long as I can remember. It's so depressing and I still don't have a viable coping mechanism. The worst part is when you look around and wonder how everyone can stand to go about their day just fine as if nothing is happening, and wishing you could be as blissfully ignorant as them.

Annndddd Alabama cements itself as the biggest shithole in the United States by sending Roy Moore to the Senate.

Say what you will, Luther Strange was at least smart enough to not say exactly what he thought on things and at least appear somewhat politically correct. And yes, Roy Moore will win - Democrats in that state, at least the majority of them, are version of what the Democratic Party looked like in 1860, rather than its modern day incarnation. And, they just have no fucking chance of taking that seat, it is safe. It is a safe, bible-thumping, Jesus-freak, conservative, cousin-fucking seat.

I have no doubt the fine, fine people of Alabama will elect Moore - and he'll save us all from the gay-Muslim abortion doctors that are hell bent on wiping out the white man rip4

Oh, and Mr. Moore is leading the nameless, token Democrat by 20 points.

So yes, any idea of him losing is absurd, let's just build a wall around the South and seal it up - because those people are clearly lost to us.

Let's airlift the minorities (that got lost on their way to a place that would accept them) and sensible people out, but the rest are trash, and deserve to rot like trash for befouling the Senate with such garbage.

But you stay informed moo4

Yes; but you asked how I handle the anxiety rip4

I look at all this shit and I absorb it with a sort of detachment as if I'm reading a fiction novel.

If I ever stopped to think, and I mean really contemplate that at any moment, Nuclear War could break out and irradiate this planet to the point of ultimate destruction, or that there are people in certain failed South American states that are so poor, and so strapped for food that they're killing and eating their children's dogs just to survive, I'm not sure that I'd be able to get out of bed in the morning.

I was anxious about outside horrors all my life, and I'm reasonably paranoid simply because of my psychological make-up, aka real out of control anxiety, but these past years were so fucked up when it turned out homegrown horrors weren't exeggerated, and what started as the most idiotic tinfoil rumour, actually got passed as a law somewhere in province, then on a federal level; and we get stripped off out personal freedoms daily without any notice etc etc jj4

Throwback when "NSA is collecting personal data from the phone logs and Internet accounts" was a paranoid schizophreniac conspiracy theory. Simpler times! moo4

You are so right, when you really think about it.

The last ten years or so really kind of makes me want WWIII, just so we can go back to living in caves, and the greatest concern that we'd have is what'd we use to keep the fire going rip4

Generally I agree, the problem with politics though is that if you let it consume your life too much, you'll end up so tense and stressed out that you'll just snap

I'm moreso speaking on general terms (albeit the thread did influence post a lot) that a lot of people abstain from politics just because its "drama" filled, when the rights of individuals are literal

Absolutely not. You are foolish if you seriously believe that the "alt-right / neonazi" are just a bunch of violent crazies who want to exterminate all but the white race. This kind of ignorance (and
