What's with the Inferno H20? Is that meant to be alcohol? brit15

I think she was going for the juxtaposition between what drinking is actually for (water intake, hydration etc.) and what it has been replaced with in our culture: its opposite (aka destructive fire) bey1 Something "cool" that ultimately has no value beyond superficiality, which is of course the theme of the whole video.

Another name for alcohol is Firewater. When people originally began trading with the native Americans, they found that it lasted longer and they had more to trade with them if they broke down their whisky barrels and diluted it with water because it was so hard to transport it from England to America. But the native Americans eventually learned that good whisky poured over a fire made the fire flame up, but if it was diluted (like most traders did), it would put the fire out. So the native Americans coined the term firewater to help spread the word about the fake whiskey.

ANYWAY I fucking love this video cry9 it kinda seemed like it ended in a way that could be set up for a sequel video, if that makes sense? Like if she IS going with a full theme then maybe this is the first of a series.

I doubt it was tho. Unless she filmed this forever ago. Cause mine has been closed for the winter rip2

I wish it was a bit darker though. orangu1

I mean the video is a perfect representation of the song and its message. It makes perfect sense but I was really hoping for something less childish-looking cause we all know she's gonna get dragged for keeping the same aesthetics.

An artist sticking to their own aesthetic... what a concept!

Honestly though, people dragging her for the look of the video are missing the point, which is ALSO the point of the video.

I know. It's quite deep and I got fooled by it on my first view too. dead4

But honestly, though. I think sticking to your aesthetic is never bad but she really needs to change it up at least a tiny bit. She doesn't have to go full Joanne like Gaga did but at least change it up a bit? It just gets a bit tiring at some point. To me, this looks like a professionally filmed video for Birthday although I get it's exactly supposed to be like that. Fooling people into believing it's 'just another Katy Perry video'.

Exactly. To me it's pretty evident that her aesthetic HAS evolved quite a bit, and that this video was intentionally made. I feel like she's got a lot up her sleeves for this era.
