Retired vicar Philip Clements went against Church of England teachings and has married 24-year-old boyfriend Florin Marin.

The couple were married at the Ramsgate Registry Office on Tuesday (25 April) in front of two witnesses and TV crews.

Currently, Church of England clergy can enter into civil partnerships but are expected to remain celibate.

Same-sex marriage is not even an option.

When asked why he chose to break this vow, Reverend Clements said he is a ‘human first before a priest.’

The couple have come under fire for the 54 year age difference, but maintain they are happily in love.

The pair will settle in Romania.
