Janet vs Mariah vs Whitney: Which Career was more Iconic?

Recommended Posts

Janet had biggest longevity 86-01, 24/25 singles went top 10

Control - RN - janet. trilogy was massive.

RN is the biggest era for singles ever in US

She also had biggest influence out of those 3 and impact on current generation, from Beyonce to Britney, Rihanna and even Kendrick...

It's easy to dismiss her now when SB ended her, but back in the day she was force.

Whitney.

She literally released the least amount of material but sold the best.

Also she was more global than both, and she literally inspired every vocalist that came after her.

And she conquered movies (was one of the highest paid actresses of the 90s).

Teenage Dream needed a re-release tho, so it can't be compared. RH had 4 #1 singles and 7 top 5 hits.

TD my ass, RN had 7 top 5 singles and 4 #1s in 3 different years (89,90,91), and 8th single wasn't released but picked at #5 on radios interesting1

All that without discounts, payola or cheap remixes interesting1

Sure Mariah and Whitney influenced with their vocals, but that's it. Music is not just about the voice. No one is looking at their videos or performances (overall, not vocal performances), their albums are pretty much forgettable, calculated and products of their time, RN and TVR are more impactful than any of their albums interesting1

Millennials just don't see that because they are not aware of janet as an artist.

Is that why their videos have more views and their songs are more streamed through streaming services than Janet's nowadays ?

And of course, we aren't trying to dismiss Janet's incredible success. But, you don't have to resort to alternative facts to try to prove your point.

lol, Janet doesn't even have her videos uploaded to yt, not even fanmades. She has like 10 or something on vevo and they are blocked.

Youtube views also doesn't equal to impact, influence and success. Gosh, these millennials.

Alt facts? Do your research please. Whitney is not album artist, never was, never will be. Her voice is her strength, not her artistry. Mariah's albums were hardly acclaimed let alone impactful, she kept releasing them like crazy, and nothing really stood out as imapctful album or piece of work, success also overshadowed her as an artist. RN and TVR simply are more impactful chi1

i forgot about this thread dead7

Success wise: Mariah/Whitney then Janet

I mean Mariah's consistent prime lasted 1990-2000

Janet lasted 1986-2004 and Whitney 1985-2000. So they all had at least 10 years before the all flopped

Janet's material is more artistic than the others, yet, she only has dancing to claim as a talent over them. Mariah's a more acclaimed writer and Whitney the better vocalist

Janet has impacted mostly performers like Justin timberlake, britney, Beyonce, tinashe, ciara and Rihanna.

Mariah and Whitney have influenced all of those artist, i bet.

Mariah had bigger chart success, Whitney had bigger individual sales/awards and Janet had cultural impact, as she was popular for her reflective music during the late 80s and throughout the 1990s
