Rank Paradise: 2017 edition + throwback to a couple old threads of a similar nature!

I can't read suddenly! I don't know

z60yJpw.gif

that was back when I was really into Paradise iirc! it's still her worst body of work, but I literally was not been able to get back into the groove of it since the release of Honeymoon until recently! it's still funny to reminisce on how bad my taste was though (my March ranking was especially tragic), and I'm also surprised at how my ranking took a 180 degree pivot in the span of about ~3-4 months, though it did change for the better, thankfully! this would be my ranking today:

  1. Blue Velvet
  2. Bel Air
  3. Gods & Monsters
  4. American
  5. Burning Desire
  6. Ride
  7. Yayo
  8. Cola
  9. Body Electric

what about you other fossils? feel free to rank it anyway even if you can't compare your current ranking of it to your past rankings! also I'm literally fucking howling at the fact that I somehow managed to confuse Britney for Laverne Cox laughcry1fall2

  1. Blue Velvet
  2. Ride
  3. Gods & Monsters
  4. Cola
  5. Bel Air

  7. Yayo
  8. American
  9. Body Electric

Honestly this is a record that I can't really rank that easily, since I'm neutral to most of them expect to American & Body Eletric that I hate with passion rip1

Paradise just feels like such an incomplete sounding record? Too many midtempos with the same instrumentation, tbh. Nowels really didn't quite have the style pinned down in 2012; their best work together was definitely yet to come.

I agree! the production is beautiful but it's just very monotonous and lethargic overall; I know that that same criticism can be applied to Honeymoon, but Honeymoon's just a lot less tacky overall jj3

I love the top 3 because they're very atmospheric tracks. The others seem to go for the same vibe, but their sloppy executions drag them down. I used to love Gods & Monsters, but now it sounds awful? & Burning Desire katy5
