Repick the Singles

Recommended Posts

Okay so this is kinda like Control the Era only quicker, easier, and lazier dead7

The title is self explanatory. Imma list mine.

The Fame:
1. Poker Face
2. Just Dance (feat. Colby O'Donis)
3. Starstruck (feat. Space Cowboy & Flo Rida)
4. LoveGame
5. I Like It Rough
6. Paparazzi
7. Paper Gangsta
8. Disco Heaven

I will never understand why the Fame era was cut short, it had so much potential. Starstruck could've been the Fame's third #1. Literally anything with Flo Rida went to the top in 2008-2010 so I don't understand why it never saw a release. ILIR would've gone top 10. Paparazzi probably would've suffered chart wise but it, Paper Gangsta, and Disco Heaven would've been top 20-30 hits. I would've only stopped this era once the singles started to fade.

The Fame Monster:
1. Bad Romance
2. Monster
3. Alejandro
4. Speechless
5. Telephone (feat. Beyoncé)
6. Dance In the Dark

once again, TFM sufferes a short stop just like the album prior. Monster is the third best song off of TFM and would've been a monster smash. The video would've been fucking amazing too! I would've released Alejandro next followed  by Gaga's best ballad Speechless. Speechless managed to crack the hot 100 with a couple of performances, with a proper release and a video it would've done just fine. Telephone would suffer a tiny bit chart wise due to being released later but it has Beyoncé on it so it's fine. Who knows about DITD? Mother monster tried to promote it and it went no where so who knows.

Born This Way:
1. Born This Way
2. Marry the Night
3. Scheiße
4. Bloody Mary
5. The Edge of Glory

Lady Gaga did everything perfect with BTW as the lead single. Then it just went downhill from there. Judas was a mistake tbh. It should've been the Scheiße, Gypsy, or Dancin' In Circles of the Born This Way album. It's a great song that shouldn't have seen a commercial release. Marry the Night would've done amazingly as the second single and I would've followed it with an iconic video for Scheiße. It could've flopped but atleast there was effort in it. Bloody Mary is a bop, it would flop for filth but I would've released it anyway. Then I would release TEOG cuz why not, it probably would perform like Marry the Night.

ARTPOP:
1. Gypsy
2. Sexxx Dreams (feat. Rihanna)
3. Do What U Want (feat. Some relevant rapper in 2013)
4. Venus
5. G.U.Y
6. Fashion!

Oh boy, ARTPOP. Gypsy should've been released as the lead with a cute yet artistic video. It would've connected more the general public than Applause ever did. Idk why Sexxx Dreams with Rihanna never happened, it would've been a top 3 smash! Rihanna has a history of making very explicit and sexual videos/songs go top 5. I would've never featured R. Kelly on DWUW and I would've featured it with some relevant rapper (probably Drake) because why not? I would've correctly release a video too. I would release Venus, GUY, and Fashion too even though they all would probably flop too. Maybe Venus could go top 20 but eh. Mary Jane Holland deserved a commercial release but it would've flopped no matter what.

Joanne:
1. John Wayne
2. A-YO
3. Dancin' In Circles
4. Perfect Illusion

Why the fuck were Perfect Illusion and Million Reasons released as singles? dead7 I would've released Joanne as an 8 track ep just to get Lady Gaga back into the public's eye. It's a tossup between John Wayne or A-YO as lead singles but I think John Wayne would do better commercially. I mean, this entire album was destined to flop anyway. I would've performed A-YO at the Grammys and get that top 3 hit with 2 weeks in the top 10. Dancin' In Circles is an amazing song but it would go nowhere unless it was remixed with Rihanna. Then go ahead with PI because why not. It would be the Dance In the Dark of Joanne. But that's fine because Lady Gaga would release her new single "The Cure" which would be the lead single for hernew album that's actually promoted.

Let me update this a bit:

The Fame:

1. Just Dance (April 2008)

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich [Promotional Single] (August 2008)

2. Poker Face (September 2008)
3. LoveGame (January 2009)
4. Disco Heaven (April 2009) This song has aged so well and since it was a deluxe track, it could have promoted that edition a bit more.
5. Paparazzi (July 2009)
6. Boys Boys Boys (early September 2009) This would have flopped but it deserved to be a single. Either way, it wouldn't have matter if BR was released in late October.

The Fame Monster:

1. Bad Romance (late October/November 2009)
2. Telephone (late January/February 2010)
3. Alejandro (May/June 2010)
4. Dance in the Dark / Monster (September 2010) Dual A-Side with a double feature video to close the video and to profit from Halloween sales.

Standalone Single:

Yoü and I (December 2010) This wouldn't appear on Born This Way and would stay an "orphan" single to promote the tour.

Born This Way:

1. Born This Way (February/March 2011) Newly edited video that also incorporated shots from the "dark/alt. version".

Government Hooker [Promotional Single] (May 2011) With Nick Knight directed video.

2. The Edge of Glory (May/June 2011) With original Joseph Kahn video.
3. Heavy Metal Lover (August/September 2011) Video would be a full length version of the "Muse Factory" MTV VMA commercial.

Judas / Bloody Mary [Video Only Singles] (October 2011) These songs had absolutely no mainstream potential but they could have worked extremely well for Halloween. Videos directed by Haus of Gaga.

4. Marry the Night (early November 2011) New video directed by Francis Lawrence.
5. Hair (February/March 2012) Video directed by Brent Bonacorso.
6. Scheiße (May/June 2012) Video directed by Steven Klein.

The final two singles likely would have bombed but Gaga totally missed out on the opportunity to use "singles" as a way to release more videos. She even said she had plans to release 9 singles/videos for Born This Way. Sadly this didn't happen cause Judas and Yoü & I killed any potential for further single releases and she also didn't seem to care about hiring professional editors/directors for her videos. If budget was an issue, product placement easily could have solved that.

ARTPOP:

1. Burqa [Buzz Single] (July 2013) Video directed by Jonas Akerlund.
2. G.U.Y. (August 2013) Video directed by Joseph Kahn.
3. Sexxx Dreams (October 2013) Video directed by Jonas Akerlund.

ARTPOP [Promotional Single] (November 2013) Video directed by Haus of Gaga.

4. MANiCURE (January 2013) Video directed by Dawn Shadforth.
5. Gypsy (April 2013) Video directed by Anthony Mandler.

Considering that the version of the album we got in the end was modified to have more "commercial potential", it didn't quite deliver any of that. Most of the songs are pretty half-baked and come off as lazy attempts to compete with more mainstream artists like Katy Perry.

Joannemad5

1. Dancin' in Circles (August 2016) Video directed by Lobster Eye.
2. John Wayne (October 2016) Video directed by Jonas Akerlund.

Joanne [Promotional Single] (October 2016)

3. A-Yo (January 2017) Video directed by Melina Matsoukas.
4. Diamond Heart (March 2017) Video directed by Dawn Shadforth.
5. Angel Down (May 2017) Video directed by Anthony Mandler.

Chromatica:

1. Alice (February 2020)
2. Rain on Me (May 2020)

911 [Promotional Single] (May 2020)

3. Babylon (Remix) (August 2020)
4. Sour Candy (October 2020)
5. Replay (January 2021)

The Fame:

pretty much the same as it was, except delete Eh, Eh from the singles list and replace it with Paper Gangsta.

The Fame Monster:

1. Bad Romance

2. scrap the telephone, never liked it, choose Alejandro instead

3. Dance In The Dark

4. Monster

Born This Way:

1. BTW

2. Edge of Glory (because the judas moment was spoiled irl by releasing this too soon)

3. Sheibe

4. Judas

5. Bloody Mary (music video could be continuation of Judas story line)

6. Marry The Night

Artpop:

1. G.U.Y. (the strongest track on the whole album imo and i would not release it on the same day as Katy's Roar)

2. Dope

3. Applause

4. Sex Dreams (Remix with Nicki Minaj)

5. Manicure (Remix with Adele, cause it was her favourite track lol)

Do What U Want is overrated and should be paid dust. Include Xtina's version as Itunes Bonus Track.

Release of Artpop Act II as she promised.

Joanne:

1. Diamond Heart

2. Dancin' In Circles

3. Million Reasons

4. A-Yo

Chromatica:

1. Alice (music video with space travelling theme and references to Alice in Wonderland)

2. Sour Candy

3. Stupid Love

4. Free Woman

5. Rain On Me

6. Babylon (music video with references to Madonna's Vogue video)

7. Love Me Right (should have been included in base version of album)
