Why exactly was Let's Get To It so unsuccessful?

Recommended Posts

Compared to her previous three albums, LGTI flopped for filth. But I keep wondering why?

Was it because of her drastic change in image? Different sound?

What exactly made everyone go jay1 over the album. Yet in true Kylie fashion, the tour was successful.

Because the album had shit songs, although the sound was the same jay1

She always gives best tours for most rotten albums jay1

Piss me Tour is one of her greatest jay1

She performed 1 song from the album though, so no wonder it slayed wigs jay1

I think the album is not only a filler, but even singles sound like fillers jay1

if you were with Satan is probably her most boring, horrible, demonic ballad. It's honestly no better than Beautiful jay1

Don't listen to her, she drinks. Like 75% of the album is good. jj4 The album was a nice step sonically, lyrically and visually between ROL and KM94.

I love the album, shut up dead4

But I also love trash, and it is trash, and inconsistent, and a step BACK from RoL!

Her initial contract was a 3+1 affair (3 studio albums and a greatest hits) and iirc she insisted on changing it the last minute so the record might come off as a bit rushed and throwaway. Also even if her earlier entire albums were successful, let's not kid ourselves, she was loved mostly because of the singles and this album does not have any hit material whatsoever. The lead single was hookless and shit, IYWWMN should have never even been recorded and GMJALMT wasn't strong enough to single-handedly save the era.

And let me shut up about the music videos budget... or maybe lack thereof.

the album is great, no need to jump on the "if it flops it's bad" wagon

kylie's sound and image from 1990-1999 were immaculate, sleek, modern, classy, everything

it will stay a mystery to me ny10

Except LGTI Rat Tour Looks dead4

At least her later 90s work is still widely considered to be among her best.

Let's Get to It? Oop, always the loser, it seems.

I can't believe everyone balked at her then. Now 20 years later, we'd kill for more IP rip2

The album wouldn't be half as panned if it wasn't titled Impossible Princess dd.

All the singles were well-received, SKOB was a random favourite of a few alt-dadrock artists, I think?

Did It Again and Breathe were lowkey hits, as deserved, and the tour was still successful. Wow she still managed to do that somehow, didn't she!

Apart from Finer Feelings the singles are poor... Especially when compared to the ROL stellar standard But I think in general she'd just alienated her kid fans too much. A lot of parents would bu
