MAJOR HURRICANE IRMA - Caribbean and Florida

Recommended Posts

This infrared satellite shot shows the power of the storm. It has weakened to a Category 4 storm with winds at 150 m/hr. The National Hurricane Center thinks it will remain a Category 4 upon landfall in Florida.

New GFS model out and it has shifted slightly west again - also the pressure is at 901 landfall on the Florida Keys. It will land in about 45 hours - 8 am Sunday. If Irma wobbles more west it could take Miami out of the most severe winds and put Naples directly in the path as the Irma moves up the Gulf side of Florida. Here is a wind prediction for Irma in knots so multiply by 1.15 to get miles/hr.

Hold the phone! The Euro model just came out and it is moving Irma more west hitting Key West and up the Gulf into Tampa. It looks like an interaction with Cuba may slow it down causing the change in path...

Over the weekend, several Twitter users posted videos and photos of what was left after the water seemingly disappeared during Hurricane Irma. Conch shells sat on damp, rocky sand and docks stood with no water beneath them. In the videos, no ocean water can be seen — even past the horizon.

The news channels sound disappointed that it was downgraded. The way they phrased its arrival like "It didn't fit the hype" fall8

It still did damage tho. People are flooded and homes in Florida are ruined fall1
