Why The Days Of 'Rock Star Behaviour' Are Over

Recommended Posts

Rock stars are God-like figures who can get away with whatever wrongs they do, like Madonna, David Bowie, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley.

However, it seems today artists have great difficulty to be charismatic and instead they spend a lot of time apologizing on social media for their behavior.  Clearly, we're living a very kind of sensitive time in which artists are not idolized anymore for their recklessness, their sexual charisma and their wild willfulness.

Why there are so few remarkable artists out there?

I think it’s because of this new generation of easily offended SJW, you want your music to be streamed, and if you do, like or think something they don’t agree with your sales/stream Numbers will reflect that, the new artists are constantly apologizing to keep those whiny bastards happy.

Oh you mean the pop star diva behavior.... two complete different things. The things pop stars did were progressive to the times. Like what do u expect the new pop stars to do to match with the pop acts in a conservative era???

Because this generation doesn't tolerate toxic behavior. Is that so bad?

He always finds some reason and some way to complain about Social justic Warriors being sensitive when he seems even more sensitive to the sctions they do with all these comments and threads he make, lol.

it's more about distinguish yourself from the others...it's about to got a rebel attitude from the very beginning of your career...something that is part of your way of being and people cult-following you for that uniqueness.

Except most of the rebel attiudes of yesterday are the norms of today??? Again like what direction you want these girls to go to be “Unique”? Like anime publicly and dress in Nicopanda fashion daily? I’m not sure what more u want.

@Kyoteki spilling the tea. brit0

“edgy” back in the 90s is different than “edgy” today, and those blaming this on SJWs should think a little more before they speak because it makes you look like you think  people being more respectful of others today is a bad thing? um2

I don't wanna girls, I wanna unapologetic bitches!

Like Ariana Grande who got back on stage to give a big middle finger to terrorism or like Eminem who is not afraid to give a big middle finger against the potus, coz that is part of their "rockstar behaviour".

I mean, Miley managed to do it in 2013/2014, of course there was nothing progressive about it but she did manage to create that type of aura, for the last time in Pop culture. Too bad she sucks now.

For the most part, we don’t have any legitimately interesting Pop figures right now, they either completely lack identity or are just lite and lukewarm byproduct of what came before them. All we need is a sense of progressiveness again (like Gaga in 2008, for example).

Imagine if Ariana Grande shamelessly danced in front of burning crosses in her music video, that’s the kind of nerve he’s talking about, I think.

Unapologetic against the injustices....in the sense to don't care about what other ppl think of you (also you don't care about sales etc).

the key word is  catharsis, which should be understood as a harmless release of the emotions (obviously not harmless for the SJW tho).

Now be edgy doesn't necessarily mean to be mainstream. If you are a good soul you should not fear to slip into offensive ass jokes or racism. wat2

Catharsis: the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions.

Where did “harmless” come into play? mad4 nice try but no, Catharsis is not the word you’re looking for. The edginess of pop / rock culture back in the day was because they were coming from a very conservative past and had a lot to rebel against - and today we are coming from a liberal-dominated culture and therefore the need for “rebellion” has changed.

Also, if you’re a good soul, you probably wouldn’t make offensive or racist jokes to begin with. mad4 what kind of stupidity... mad4
