Welcome to Create A Label, a game where you can manage artists under your label and release singles and albums.

Every article you post must be a minimum of 400 words (but more is welcome!).

Also, you are only allowed to post a maximum of 15 articles per week for each artist that you signed.

Since the very first season, there has been a very big improvement in articles so we want to be clear with this season's standards.

This is the format for the articles this season and an article that will not follow this format will simply not count.

- Name of region that promo is aiming for (e.g. Europe)

TOURING

S561oJK.png

In Season 8, we're going to have a different approach to Touring.

Before the meltdowns, this upcoming feature is not extra work for me. It is simply there to help me calculate tours faster & efficiently. Touring has always been one of the hardest tasks for a host and probably the most time consuming so this should help get those tour updates out quicker.

Our new home server for CAL Tube is http://calworld.byethost18.com/

It is currently limited for a certain amount of daily hits but I'll handle it before the new season begins. Please don't spam it in the mean time.

Tutorial:

1. You log in your artist's account.

(I will give you your account's details if you lost it)

c4Aj5EY.png

2. You click "Upload" and then go to "Tours".

EAmBnGk.png

3. Here is where you insert your tour details.

A.  Size of the tour pic must be 561 x 800

B. Description for the tour can include up to 110 words.

C. Ticket Names- You can name your tickets whatever you'd like. You can have up to 3 different type of tickets per tour.

D. Date- You pick the date of the concert.

E. Leg- You pick the concert's leg. If the concert is in USA, the leg is North America for example.

F. Venue/Arena/Stadium- You pick one.

G. Location- This is the important part. You must write the full location. For example: Accorhotels Arena, Paris, FR (Venue name, City, Country)

H. Capacity- You check what's the capacity in the venue you chose and insert it here. You don't invent up numbers, it needs to follow the venue's capacity in real life.

I. Now it's time to divide the total amount of tickets with the 3 different tickets prices you provided. You can insert a different pricing per concert but you should know that once you post a concert, you cannot change the price even if the demand was too high/too low.

R4js8yQ.png

Once you add all of the the concerts, you can click "Save Changes" and the concerts are officially up for sale.

In your artist's channel, there is a new tab "Tours" in which all of your tours and concerts you've posted will appear in.

It will also show you the total amount of tickets your artist sold, the total tour stops and the total gross. (Just for general info)

ICqRwfM.png

Once you click on the tour pic, you're led to the actual tour page where you can find important information on how your tour is selling.

You may also add more concerts by clicking "Add More".

zvdGdHJ.png

We have made some changes in terms of how tour grossing will work this season.

Artists will now take 35% of the money made from each tour date.

For example, if your artist did a show and made $1 million, then your artist/label would get $350,000 from that date.

Opening acts are paid by the main acts per leg.

Sony Music has been going through several changes these past few years starting with the deposition of Edgar Berger in August 2016 as a result of the backlash for the company's immoral behavior towards its clients. Stars like Mariah Carey and Selena Gomez shared their troubled relationship with the company's executives, what set social media on fire and led to a 1.1m signed petition against Edgar Berger.

Leona Fluella, a 39 years old American marketing business executive who has served as a marketing manager at Spotify and became Sony's CFO in 2011, took over the desirable job. Things were looking promising for the company  with revenues standing at around $48m as for the first quarter of 2017. Lana Del Rey, who was signed to Sony Music at the time, generated great numbers with her latest single at the time, "Latest Flame" and her tour grossing over $74m.

There were various reports on the continuous horror at Sony Music headquarters and the bad relationship with the clients but things only took a turn for the worse on July 2017 when Belinda shared her conversation with her manager to her millions of followers. Belinda then accused Sony Music executive for physically attacking her and blamed Leona Fluella for being enslaved to the corporation due to the long-term contract she signed in 2016.

This led to another massive backlash ending up with Sony winning a $100m lawsuit against Belinda. In December 2017, it was decided that Leona will resign from her one-year job as the CEO of Sony Music and the corporation was left searching for the new replacement.

Angela Buffalo, 52, will take on the role from February 4th. Sony Music workers were informed earlier today regarding the change in roles prior to the official press statement.

Angela finished a marketing degree in 1997 at New York University. She worked as an Account manager at Canal Digital up until 2003 when she was offered a job at Yahoo as a Digital Marketing Manager. In 2015, she was offered by Jimmy Lovine a job at Apple Music which is now a a service provided in over 100 countries worldwide. She was one of the first supporters of the hit-streaming service, Encore, in 2017 and now she is taking the biggest job in her life as the CEO of Sony Music.

Angela Buffalo | Billboard Photoshoot Jan 2018

According to reports from August 2017, Sony Music hit an all-time-low in the company's yearly revenue with around $70m only. This was compared to the giant Universal Music Group which earned up to $315m during the year and even Warner Music Group which earned over $135m off their artists. This marked a turning point for the music industry with Sony Music slowly drowning.

In a short interview we had with the new CEO, Angela Buffalo, she promised a change in the company's former policy and blamed Leona Fluella for the decline of Sony Music. "What Leona did to Sony Music is really a shame and I know it's not easy to run this giant corporation but what she did is simply not the way things should be done."

When asked on what she has to offer for the company, she didn't hesitate to bring up her past as a leading marketing manager at Apple Music. "I have alot of plans. As someone who has a 20+ years experience in marketing and also worked for the successful Apple Music service as a leading manager, I plan to bring Sony Music back to the table.", she continued, "I will do that by first of all investing in our current clients, bringing more experienced managers and PR teams to our company, signing new promising acts and investing in profitable private businesses in the music industry."

Lana Del Rey who was signed for two album cycles under Sony Music did not seem to suffer from the drama. The superstar sold over 30m singles off the smash #1 albums "Silver" and "Midnight" and sold over 17m albums together. On top of that, her tour in the beginning of 2017 grossed over $70m and she won 4 Grammys, two of them being Record Of The Year and Album Of The Year. It's safe to say Lana Del Rey was the main source of income for Sony Music for the past year. Buffalo stated that she is disappointed by Lana's decision to leave Sony Music shortly after the contract ended. "As much as I have respect for Lana and am always wowed by her talent, I can not understand her cowardly decision to leave. Sony Music has been her home and has invested in her grand comeback after two years of absence following her Super Bowl performance in 2015. I don't know how to call it other than betrayal."

6ckkiiM.png

Lana Del Rey & Leona Fluella in April 2017

She then expressed her interest in signing male acts like Maxence, Maluma, Troye Sivan, Xylon and Shawn Mendes. "I feel like 2017 brought us so many talented male artists. Maxence is almost finishing his contract and I would love to have him here. Maluma is obviously having a major year and his song is the best selling male debut by any male artist in history. I feel like it's worth investing in the male voice and I plan to do that."

Angela wasn't willing to discuss Belinda's $100m lawsuit in late 2017 but she did state that she admires Belinda and is sad she had to finish her long-term relationship with Sony that way.

m51Mrey.png

As opposed to Leona Fluella who was against Encore when it first launched, Angela was one of the supporters and still is one today. "Encore is a platform that is continuing to grow every day and it can't be ignored. It's the future."

Buffalo then finished the interview by clarifying that things will indeed change from now on. "Sony Music is going to start a new page in 2018. We'll focus mainly on re-building. We're going to have our 90th anniversary since the foundation next year so we're going to give it all we've got."

Sony Music is currently dealing with the aftermath of 2017. The future without Lana Del Rey doesn't look promising for the company but only time will tell whether Sony Music will indeed rise from the ashes and climb back up.

SEASON 7 SUMMARY

QUARTER 4 OF 2017 REAL WINNERSS

uvYSNoX.png

SEASON 7 OFFICIAL OVERALLS:  http://kworbcal.byethost4.com/OverallsS7.htm

You can say alot of things about the last quarter of 2017 but one thing you cannot say: Low Sales!!!111

Over 113m singles  and over 50m albums were sold during the last quarter, making it the best selling quarter of 2017.

So what will we remember?

Perhaps Lana Del Rey snatching 4 Grammys, two of them being Record Of The Year and Album Of The Year. Or her breaking the record for selling over 1m copies of her smash album for three-consecutive-weeks, more than any artist has achieved before that.

Or will we remember Lorde completely owning the Grammys stage with a breathtaking performance only to shook us even more with a revealing documentary a week later?! Or will we remember how Lorde's album "Speed Of Light: Eclipse" became the best selling album of all times, selling over 16.3m copies worldwide, passing Beyonce's record with "Black Ambition" [12m copies worldwide].

We can't forget about our third Olympus queen, Mariah Carey who wasn't as active in the last quarter but still managed to effortlessly get another #1 single AND on top of that steal the desirable spot for the Superbowl Halftime Show from Rihanna.

If you aren't into these pop divas, you might as well remember the iconic moment at the Grammys with Maluma and Ariana! Or how Maluma just passed Maxence for having the best selling male single of all times with his smash "Bad Habits" which sold up to 7.3m copies worldwide. Fauvellies, you better tell your fave to catch up!!

Oh and let's not forget Ariana's massive smash "Heaven and Hell", Grammy win and the 6x platinum album "Ariana Grande". Ariana did not come to play and it looks like 2018 will be even a bigger year for the uprising star who has failed to return in full force into mainstream pop.

These artists right here have just a few words to say to the rest:

You Can't Sit With Us!

http://calweb.byethost7.com/streaming

Lana Del Rey leads the hit-streaming service with over 609m Streams on her channel.

Lorde being close with over 559m total Streams, including all her three albums.

Ariana Grande and Maluma, surprisingly, being 3rd and 4th place respectively. Both prove the potential of this streaming service in today's music industry especially for new-comers.

The one who's missing here is Mariah Carey who has just a little over 6m total Streams. Looks like our upcoming Superbowl Halftime Performer needs to catch up because the world is going towards Streaming. Who will be left behind?

Exclusive! Lindsay Lohan and Rihanna were officially dropped by the world's leading music company, Universal Music Group, earlier today.

Universal Music Groups' spokesperson confirmed and told us today: "We had the pleasure to be managing such talented acts in the music industry. We wish them nothing but good luck in the future".

But fear not! This forced smile won't fool us. According to our sources, Universal Music Group were deeply disappointed in Rihanna's inactivity this year and the vague information on the upcoming schedule along with the Super Bowl Halftime show passing to Mariah Carey led the company to officially drop her today. According to our source, Lindsay was dropped as well due to similar reasons and her significant dip in popularity after her Super Bowl Halftime Show two years ago.

It is reported that Universal Music Group are considering to "bail out" Maxence and Ariana Grande out of their current contract with Warner Music Group but things were not confirmed as of yet.
