BRENDON URIE | HEART AT THE DOOR MUSIC VIDEO | WORLDWIDE

Spoiler

The music video begins with a shot of the St. Peterson Basilica in Rome, Italy and you hear church bells in the distance, you then see Britney Spears walking and admiring the beautiful architecture of the place, very intrigued with what a guide was saying to tourists “This basilica is widely known for it’s luck on love, don’t believe me? I think you’ll see what I’m talking about soon! [Laughs] Now this way..” and Britney looked intrigued. She then picks up her phone and starts texting and then she stumbles into Brendon who had a coffee and they bump, the coffee is now all over them and Britney says “Excuse me! I’m so sorry” and when the camera shows their hands, they subtly touch and they stare at each other and Brendon smiles. “You know, it’s ok. I guess. Hi! I’m Brendon!” and he waves at Britney while smiling and Britney smiles back and then you see the camera going away slowly showcasing the beautiful place and the song starts. The scene then changes to a beautiful villa in Italy, Britney’s seen in a yard wearing a stunning red dress as Brendon’s vocals where heard, Britney was in slow motion all this time, with her hair moving gracefully with the wind and a big smile on her face. Then you see Brendon in a room, sitting down with a ring on his hand, very melancholic and with a whiskey on his other hand looking through the window as the song kept going and then you see him getting up and walking around the room and now he looks at the camera and stares, then looks away and the scene changes. Britney’s now seen in a vineyard, she’s sitting down under a tree with a picnic basquet and then a field of roses is seen, Brendon’s there and he’s singing the song. He cuts one white rose and he gives it to Britney and she smiles and hugs him as the sun behind them appeared and created a beautiful shot. Britney’s now seen once again in that backyard with the red dress and Brendon’s now behind her following her as if they were playing, he grabs her from the back and they smile as Brendon now kisses her. You see now Brendon once again in the room, this time you could tell that the room was now getting dirtier, old but very slowly as Brendon was singing. The camera then shows the room from outside the door and you see Brendon in the corner of that room singing and Britney walks by, stands next to the door and then leaves as Brendon throws his whisey through the window. Then you see Britney once again, and she was in a beautiful lavish mansion room, with lots of white roses surrounding her and she poses to the camera, shots of roses wilting then are seen and then the chorus of the song stops and the video turns to black. You hear wedding bells once again but the video remained black. Then you see Brendon once again, but this time he was looking on the mirror, Britney comes from behind and hugs him, she then raises her hand and you see the engagement ring. “It’s beautiful” she says as Brendon subtly smiles and looks at Britney, he says “You deserve the best” and kisses her on the cheek. As this conversation went by, you could see a recap of Brendon’s happiest moments with Britney, a shot of Britney sitting on a bed wearing black lingerie with the sun behind er is seen. The camera now shows the room and the curtains move by the wind and you see the Eiffel Tower behind them and then it turns to black once again and the song kickstarts once again and you see now Brendon singing in a church the next verse of the song. People are seen coming in, very daper and the St. Peters Basilica is seen and it was arranged as a wedding. They start to be seated and you see now Britney being in a balcony with her wedding dress, gazing into Italy’s beautiful landscape and then shots of Brendon getting ready for the wedding are seen, with him trying on his tuxedo, shots of the beautiful basilica with a lot of white roses are seen, the minister is seen talking to people that arrived and the piano player was there as well. Britney’s now on the sceen, she’s still gazing to the landscae and the camera goes down slowly and you see her touching her engagement ring and moving it. Brendon appears on a new scene and he was now walking through the basilica, greeting everyone and just having a great time, he stands next to the minister and you see everyone waiting for the wedding to start as the song was now on it’s last chorus. As the camera shows Brendon, his groomsman, Britney’s bridesmaids as well there, it goes away slowly zooming out and then the scene changes to Britney’s suite and you see the curtains moving thanks to the wind coming from the windows but no one was in the room. The song ends and then you now hear the wind, the scene was still on Britney’s suite. The camera goes slowly into a boudoir that was next to the window and then it goes up, you see a note that said “I’m sorry” and the engagement ring above it. The scene then starts to burn out with quick changes in between showing what seemed to be a picture of Shakira in a wedding dress taken by a polaroid as flames took over and the music video ends with the flames taking over the whole picture and the shot was all now dark. Then you see the copyright for the music video and Republic Records’ logo.

"Broken"
49a66644091af23ed86dee22621537b4--bird-o
Written by Jim Jefferson, Kireba Budeztki, Cherilyn Sarkisian and Limuel Pimineti
Produced by Mark Ronson

Cher has took a new direction in her music in the 21st century. After all one of the newest songs she brought to us was this, an experimental pop rock dance track written by Cher truly. It was passed to different artists such as DavidBowie, Marina and the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey and Madonna yet it was her choice on getting it back.
Her newest efforts gave her the chance to reform and reinvention from herself, a so called declined artist. In Broken, she shows her vulnerable side of her music to the new generation of people.
She says that the song is ahead of its time, creative yet flawed. Cher took many tries on the song, one has a demo of her singing a different choice of lyrics, one is a demo when she was sick and one during when she was in New York.
The Armanian blooded singer gives us a new innovative side and rejected notions of the typical pop songs we hear today on the radio such as slurred rap songs, songs with copied melodies and songs about drugs.
Broken is a really beautiful song and is in fact one of her best work on par with not.com.mercial (album) and I Hope You're Happy. Bringing up the new works, she stated that she sampled and referenced Believe, arguably her biggest hit yet. She was inspired a lot on the subject of biology and the light of humanity that she was too busy writing it for more than 2 months in the studio. In this song, we hear no autotune from the song and is free from any robotic voice effects such as vocoder.
They also directed a new video directed by Jonas Akerlünd, the same director of many iconic videos such as Lady Gaga's Paparazzi, Kesha's Praying and more. Giving us excitement, she says that the video is shot in ice with her rising up. She also says in the music video, that version has her singing a high note, something not heard from the studio version or may we call, album version. Keep updated as we share more Cher in the future.

Lyrics:
(Don't you feel sorry, don't you feel sorry...)

Broken like a crooked smile
A little hunched over but I walked that mile
I've woken from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe the things that I have seen

Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I'm right where the universe wants me to be
A lesson that I needed to learn
But that doesn't mean that it doesn't burn

Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I won't change my story
Don't take all my glory
Don't you feel sorry for me

Tied up with leather and rope
A little bit of medicine to give me hope
I'm inky like a smoking gun
It's gonna take a while to heal the damage done

Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I'm right where the universe wants me to be
A lesson that I needed to learn (A lesson that I needed to learn)
But that doesn't mean that it doesn't burn

Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I won't change my story
Don't take all my glory
Don't you feel sorry for me

(A lesson that I needed to learn)
No pain, no gain, no defective parts
No dirty business, no forgiveness, no broken heart

(Don't you feel sorry)

Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I won't change my story
Don't take all my glory
Don't you feel sorry for me

Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry
Don't you feel sorry for me
'Cause I won't change my story
Don't take all my glory
Don't you feel sorry for me

TEXT VERSION

Spoiler

Zayn is back! After the underperformance of his previous album, “To Know Me Is To Love Me”, which was met with critical acclaim, the singer took a break. In the meantime, the album got a nomination for Best R&B Album while the lead single, “Strain”, got a nomination for Best R&B Song. However, this did not seem to give the singer enough reasons to stay at his past label, hence why he signed with Holy Tongues Recordings, the label known for managing names such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. Now, after all the planning, the singer is back in the game with a new single. Titled “Nights Go By” and produced by Frank Dukes, the song takes the listener on an emotional rollercoaster. Besides the new single, his upcoming album, “Identity Crisis”, has been made available for pre-order. To start the era correctly, Zayn took on a promotional schedule for the release week. Today, he’s decided to visit Good Morning America in order to promote & perform his single and discuss what to expect from this era.

Interviewer: I’m here now, in our studios, with a very special guest, Zayn. Fresh off his well-deserved break after creating a GRAMMY-nominated album, he is back to show us that he can create another one, right?
Zayn: Haha, hello, hello. Well, not really to prove that, I’m here just for the music not the bling, like some artists would say. Though I am glad to be here this morning.

I: We are also glad to have you here. So, you just released a new single, “Nights Go By”, right?
Z: Yes, that is correct

I: Tell us more about it.
Z: This song was created as a guitar concept a few years ago, dare I say 10 year ago? I can’t tell you for sure, but I am one hundred percent sure that I was in my last year of high school when I wrote this. Obviously, it was a very rough version.

I: How did it end up on the album?
Z: I was at home back in June, you know, taking a small break from studio work. And so, I was helping my family with cleaning the house and there comes my mom with a bunch of papers in her hands. It was kind of embarrassing, to be honest, [laughs] but I am glad she gave those to me. Later that day I took my guitar and played the song… and I loved it! You know, I said to myself “I have to take this to the studio” and, two weeks later I did. I called Christina and Maria, the girls who helped me rewrite the song, and we had it done in one day. I was really excited about this one, all I needed was one good producer.

I: But why did it not end up on your latest album?
Z: It’s a funny story. So, as I said, I was looking for a good producer who could have turned the guitar melody I had into the track you’re hearing today. At that time, I was working with Frank [Dukes] on “To Know Me Is To Love Me”, we were really deep in the production process. And I give him the acoustic demo of track and he goes: “I know exactly how this should sound like”. You know, I am glad of all of this, ready to work. Doc [McKinney] comes into the picture the next day and we have the song done after one whole week. However, when I send this to my label they don’t seem impressed, they feel like the song doesn’t fit on the album, etcetera.

I: How did you convince them to include it on the next album?
Z: Well, the thing is, after the song got rejected, I started to work on more music that has the same sound as “Nights Go By”.  And I’m glad I did that! I knew the moment I sent “To Know Me” to my label what I was going to do with my next album. Although I really appreciate that project, I feel like I released it too early and now it’ll remain underappreciated.

I: You got a GRAMMY nomination for it, though. How did that feel?
Z: Incredible. I’ll be honest, I never aim for awards and all that jazz, but I was in awe when people told me that it got nominated. Especially since I was in the same category with some solid artists, like Mariah Carey and Beyonce…

I: …and Harry Styles
Z: [just laughs nervously] Yeah.

I:  Do you still think the project is underappreciated?
Z: I didn’t mean it as in underappreciated by the public. I think the project will be underappreciated in my eyes, you know, especially since my entire focus is now solely on this album. Do I feel like the whole era was cut short? Obviously. Do I think I should have continued it though? Not really. I think even the public lost interest in it, so why beat a dead horse. However, let me mention, I am really proud of the outcome of the album and I will perform whenever I get the occasion to do so.

I: Since you mentioned your album, tell us more about.
Z: Yes, my new upcoming album is titled “Identity Crisis” and it comes out in a few weeks, perhaps months. I didn’t want to drag the release for too long, but I also didn’t want to rush the album before I feel like it’s properly done and I feel like I am ready to release it.

I: Why is it titled that way?
Z: After all the things that happened last year, I was really confused with everything that I am. You know, changing labels and having to work on a lot of music just makes you feel… empty. I had moments when I went and said to myself “do I really want to be an artist who exposes himself to the world as much as I will”. Plus, besides that, the album is titled that way because I wrote a lot about my past heartbreak and, at least for me, an experience like that one makes me put everything I ever knew under a question mark. It is a certain uncertainty that comes with being, you know, hurt. That was really deep, right? [laughs]

I: Haha, no, it was a good explanation. It is really great to see when artists open up about their struggles. Now, we’re almost out of time but I have one more question for you.
Z: Yes, please.

I: Should we expect a music video release soon?
Z: Oh, definitely. The visual for ‘Nights Go By’ is really incredible. We put more effort in it in order to compensate for the lack of visuals for any songs from “To Know Me”. It’s inspired by the works of Quentin Tarantino so it’s very action-based, you know, car crashes, fire, explosions. All the cool stuff. We are going to premiere either sometime this week or in the next one. We are first thing first waiting for the song reception.

I: Exciting to hear that! Well, thank you for coming today, it’s been our pleasure.
Z: Oh no, the pleasure is me, haha. Thank you for having me.
I: We will be back after the commercial break to catch Zayn performing his new single. Stay right there.

After the commercial break, Zayn took the show’s stage to perform “Nights Go By”. The performance was simple, with him sitting in the middle of the stage, with a microphone stand and with his band sitting behind him. Afterwards, the host came on stage, hugged him and reminded everyone to go and pre-order “Identity Crisis” and stream & buy “Nights Go By”.
