Red Dead Redemption 2

You liked Saints Row 4?! I found it to be one of the worst messes of a game I've ever played fall6  Although Saints Row 1/2 hold up as two of my favorite games ever.

Yeah, I feel like they could definitely make it work. But, I don't want like laser guns and stuff like that implemented, it totally takes you out of that time period. Undead Nightmare worked so well because it didn't change anything about the time period, except for the zombies of course. You still felt like you were fighting zombies in the early years of the midwest. It just won't feel like Red Dead if they add futuristic weapons/items.

I enjoyed how powerful they make you into that game, pretty much like Superman. I also enjoy the humor and pop culture references in that game. I can understand that maybe some fans of the series felt like they went too over the top, but I definitely don't think it's a badly designed or frustrating game. I'm also not really attached to the series, since I only played some of the first one (I own Saints Row: The Third though), so I enjoy Saints Row IV as a standalone game.

If they do go with an alien theme, I would agree to keep the weapons like that to a minimum, at least until the end of a game (I'd be fine with stuff like that for free roaming). I'm thinking maybe the primary enemies could be like Xenomorphs from the Alien series, so essentially just alien monsters. Maybe you could be destroying alien eggs as an objective.

Gotcha, see I could understand how someone could like it as a standalone game. But I've been a fan of the series since SR2 (then went back to play SR1), so I was a bit devastated by SR3/SR4. Hoping for something more similar to the originals for SR5 :D

Yeah, I think that would be really fun bey7  I just don't want them to take you too far out of the environment where it doesn't even make sense anymore.

I knew the Saint Denis bank robbery was gonna go seriously south, because it pretty much had to, but I never would've guessed we'd leave America dead2 Cool surprise though.

So what do you think is your favourite stranger side mission, from either/both games?

Yeah and I'm glad they made the bank robbery have consequences. I hate when games make this crazy situation that you're unable to escape, but then you magically slip out with no consequences. I thought the way they wrote the story for that part was super neat.

I had to look up the name for this one, since it's been like 9 months since I've completed the game, but my favorite one for sure in RDR2 was called "A Bright Bouncing Boy". I'm not sure if you're up to it yet, it's somewhere in Saint Denis, but you start by controlling this remote control boat for some like engineer guy, and it was a really cool mechanic and felt like something they put a lot of effort into. There's a  cool second part to the mission too :)

I've started it, yea, but only the first bit where you're blowing up sailboats and avoiding mines.

Oh shit I forgot about that one fall1  That one was really neat. They did a lot of high effort ones in RDR2, which I really appreciate bey3

@Dennis Reynolds Once my friend is done using my PlayStation today, I am restarting RDR2 :D

Also, OT, but have you heard about the game Control? The mechanics look pretty cool from what I've seen in the trailers and what-not.

They structured that one really well dead2 At first I was disappointed when they were just mules or dogs, but having the last one be a real lion was awesome. The little chewing out that Arthur gives Margaret after that was really funny too dead2

And yeah, the stranger missions feel a little more eventful in this game, or at least they have somewhat better payoffs - I think pretty much every stranger mission in the first one sorts of ends with a joke that you were either on the wrong side all along or did whatever you did in the service of bestiality or drug addiction or nothing at all dead2

Cool!

Wasn't aware of that, looked into it and it does look pretty cool. Maybe I'll pick it up at some point, the only other PS4 games I have so far are Mad Max, Star Wars Battlefront II and Tempest 4000 - the last of which I haven't tried yet, and as for the other two I've only played about 40 minutes of Mad Max but liked it, and I've played a little bit of the arcade mode in Battlefront II and the prologue and first 7 campaign missions, the story of which I actually find pretty engaging so far.

Yeah I love them cry7  I'm replaying now, just at the beginning now and saved Sadie Adler. Also she is one of my favorite characters ever, she had such a great progression cry7

Yeah I just heard of it yesterday, looks cool, might wait for the price to drop first though. I haven't tried Battlefront 2 yet, I didn't love the last one, felt so weird compared to the PS2 version.

I really like Sadie, but one criticism I have of the game is that some characters get left out of the main story for a little too long - she for example doesn't come back until you're in Lemoyne, and by the time Kieran dies he's had no involvement for quite a while either. I know they had a pretty big cast of characters to manage, but I think they could've done it a little better.

I didn't play the 2015 Battlefront, but I do love both PS2 games, especially the original Battlefront II. Are you a fan of Star Wars in general? I won't spoil the story campaign of the newer BII game, but I've been loving it so far, although I will say the main character goes through a pretty major change of heart that I found hard to accept. The rest of the game though...is really hell bent on getting you to go online and unlock various nonsense.

By the way, if the jumping from a train into water thing is possible, I've concluded that the best bet is Bard's Crossing - I haven't been able to jump from the train and survive yet, but I have just jumped from the bridge itself and I didn't come to any harm. I might just be missing the sweet spot from the train.

Yeah, I totally agree, they do have some weird gaps that make some characters forgettable. She becomes way more involved later in the story though. Really do like her.

Yeah, I love Star Wars! I'm not like a super-fan, but I've really liked most of the movies and the original Battlefront's were some of my favorite games back in the day. Maybe I'll look into the BII game if it's a good story, I think we have a similar taste in games :P

Yeah, I think that would be the best place for sure. But, I have had multiple horses (one Arabian included) fall off there by glitching trains and die and lose them, so I doubt Arthur would survive fall1

Yea, the most recent mission I did was the prison break with her and John. And I guess to be fair they're always at camp, and I think you had the option to go fishing with Kieran (although I never did).

Some people apparently feel that the campaign is too short (for me it'll probably be like six hours altogether when I finish), but I dunno, I don't necessarily need every game to be a 40 hour epic. I do like the primary player character overall despite what I said about one shift of hers, and I really, really love how they worked the original trilogy characters into the game - especially Lando Calrissian. They got Billy Dee Williams to voice him, and wow, they nailed his characterization, I wouldn't change a thing about him. Luke was great also, and Han and Leia were definitely good too. I also think they've done a great job mixing in planets from every Star Wars era - so far, the campaign has included two original trilogy planets, one prequel planet, two sequel trilogy planets and three original planets (although one is mentioned but never seen in Return of the Jedi). It's a gorgeous game, and out of the original planets, I honestly think any of them would've been a more interesting location than any of the planets they've included in the sequel trilogy fall8 I've been very disappointed with the worldbuilding in those films and how most of them try to evoke original trilogy planets, although I think Rogue One and Solo were both better with that (I liked Scarif and Corellia in particular). So yea, I do recommend the game overall, especially since the price has declined a lot, but just be prepared to be hounded about going online and to need to unlock every little thing outside the campaign rip2

He actually can survive if you jump straight from the bridge, I'm not sure if the extra eight feet of height on the train turns the water into concrete or what rip2 You can always tell if you're gonna live or die too - if the jump is no good, he waves his arms and screams, but if you'll live, he's completely blasé about leaping two hundred feet into the water rip3

I also have a theory on how they might do RDR 3 if any such plans are in the works... dead2

I think it's pretty great, overall. My two negatives are still the incessant refilling of your own health and Dead Eye, and especially that you're restricted from moving quickly, jumping or using your weapons in so many places and always at camp/home, but other than that, it's a fantastic game with a fantastic story.

So, here's how it goes:

The game starts off as an interquel of the first game - after John dies, but before Abigail does - Jack gets in touch with Sadie Adler and it turns out that she's the primary person that trained him to get good enough to kill Edgar Ross. You spend some time in South America doing errands for her and honing your skills, until eventually you come back to America and then we skip over the bit where he takes his revenge. After that, Jack finds himself aimless and unsure of his future, and ends up spending most of his time at MacFarlane Ranch trying to wipe out a local gang with little lasting success. Bonnie eventually kicks him out for making the situation worse and for a desire to see him turn his life around. This still doesn't work and you play as Jack for maybe two chapters total until the main antagonist paralyses and nearly kills Jack. From there on, you play as Sadie Adler and you try to pick up where Jack left off. Since Sadie is the only primary character in the two games that never achieves or seeks "redemption" (besides Jack, who would now too), she would eventually also find some kind of peace, thus creating a trilogy about Van der Linde gang members that all change and find some kind of peace. Unlike John and Arthur, I don't think she'd die. All the while, Jack would become a writer who eventually writes the "Red Dead" book seen in GTA V.

OH my god. This is actually incredible. I would love to play that. It would be great to see the stories of Jack and Abigail played out and this sounds perfect. I also love both Bonnie and Sadie, so it would be amazing to know more about them and see where they go. If this becomes a reality, I would be so happy - if not, then you need to go work at Rockstar! :D

I've been waiting for this since I finished the first game years ago! Can't believe how much I fell in love with this world after I bought it on a whim! Even better that this releases right as I
