Macklemore never even had a Top 20 song on HAC, not solo and neither with Ryan Lewis. This is all Kesha's power cry7

Yes. She never had a Top 10 song there before Praying either. Then Praying became her first op 10 and GOD her first Top 5. Her image and musical change resonated well with the HAC demographic oprah14

Why is this such a random song to be doing so well on there? These Days is basically a song about the same subject, has way more YouTube views and generally seems more successful, I've heard it way more on the radio in shops, yet Good Old Days is rising on here wat3

I’ve yet to hear These Days on the radio, I hear Good Old Days like all the time, but I’m on the East Coast, maybe that’s why?

Because:

  • The US isn't Europe. These Days is a very European-sounding song, it's not surprising it's doing better in Europe than in the US. Edit: I've looked it up and These Days didn't even chart in the US!
  •  We don't have the same structure with different radio formats in Europe either. Different stations like to play different things, but they are not clearly separated from each other. Good Old Days obviously sounds like an HAC smash hit, but there isn't really a European equivalent for that.
  • Only Pop radio cares about success in the US, the other formats not so much.
  • The artists. Kesha is simply irrelevant in Europe, meanwhile she is still a big name in the US and still has radio power there. Macklemore, however, is a lot more successful in Europe than in the US. Same goes for Clean Bandit and Rudimental in the UK.

I'm not complaining though, just super shocking how different radio works in Europe and US, hearing Kesha here is as rare as her touring here dead2
