Living Dead Boy

My POM Experience in NYC

Recommended Posts

Finally got to see the kween on July 23rd the first night of POM at Radio City oprah1

Our hotel was close so we walked to the venue and got their about 5 minutes before 8 (tickets said the doors opened at 7 and it started at 8).

Naturally the line to get in was still very long but there were tons of attendants scanning tickets and multiple security checks to go through.

One of the attendants remarked how crazy the crowd was because they had an event like Britney Spears there.

I took these in line to enter, you can see a small section of the crowd still waiting to enter.

The crowd inside was just as crazy but everyone was super nice and friendly. I talked to a lot of fans throughout the night.

Many of them asked me about my shirt and were surprised to hear I got it from Walmart of all places. I've only seen it at one.

This photo shows the crowd inside the lobby, this was taken from the stairs heading to my seats one floor up.

The merch counter is on the rightside of the picture and is where a good part of the crowd is standing at.

On the left hand side were food and drink counters. There were more drink counters (several serving alcohol) at second floor landing too.

This was when we first sat down just after 8 and naturally the show wasn't close to starting as you can see by the seats that are still empty.

There were very few empty seats once the show started, and that's thanks to the ticket scalpers I'm sure.

Speaking of which there were shady people trying to sell tickets to the show outside of the concert just across the street and then selling fake merch afterwords.

Anyway, here is the view from out seats:

The show finally started close to 9, I don't remember the exact time but it was at least after 8:30.

Despite the screens on either side of the stage there wasn't a countdown displayed on them

but before the lights dimmed they were advertising the Prerogative perfume and had staff members giving out paper wrist bands with the scent of it in the lobby.

I was surprised by how similar it smells to Private Show but I do like it and I imagine the notes of the scent are better in the actual perfume.

Britney made her entrance and appeared in a cloud of fog on top of a platform. Way better than walking onstage like at a smaller venue.

The fog was actually very dense and worked great with the atmosphere and made it feel more immersive.

Also the clarity of these photos does differ. I used my phone and typically got better photos putting in on manual.

She put her hair up in a pony as soon as Work Bitch was done but at least she didn't fuss with it too much during the show.

Her hair was also styled that night with the top section pulled back to be more out of her face as well which probably helped.

Even having seen videos of the show since the beginning of Vegas I was really taken aback by the beauty of the lighting design and background screens.

Even though the props are very minimal you don't realize that watching the show, between the dancers, the music, lights and screens there is more than enough visual interest when you aren't focusing on Britney.

I went with my bff and he was really impressed with the show and had a great time as well.

Probably the most obviously lacking thing were the costume changes which were essentially Britney changing her bra and panties out.

Everything looked good onstage though and had either a bright color or a lot of stoning to make it stand out.

The only outfit I genuinely disliked was this one because the black and red makes no sense in the neon section.

I think she was wearing a faux shirt color and bowtie with it as well.

The opening look, black and red leotards looked the best onstage.

The Circus and Jungle sections were easy faves for me. Brit had great energy all night and seemed extra playful here.

There were a lot of sublte things on the screens I hadn't noticed before in videos like the dancing plants for toxic or the panthers during Stronger.

At the end of the show they shot out huge confetti cannons as well which I didn't expect.

I decided to hit the merch stand up after the show and bought a dual sided tour shirt.

There was some really cute merch like a jean jacket with patches and pins but it was $175 which was insane.

But if I had the extra cash ya'll I woulda bought it aretha1

Overall it was a great experience, great show, can't wait to see her again.

The costume thing was just a nitpick and with the sound design of the show live vocals weren't even something I thought of.

The show was nonstop and such a fun ride and don't let anyone try and convince you otherwise.

Seeing it in person is completely different from watching a video on Youtube.

Britney, sis, when are you gonna get rid of the atrocious costumes? Other than that, the visuals are stunning. brit11

Unfortunately she's proven before, like with even the Circus tour, the longer the tour goes the more bored she gets with the costumes.

She and her "stylists" eventually dump all the beautiful (or at least better) pieces by designers. In their places comes simple cheaper pieces they add embelishments to.

Holy shit it looks amazing cry8

I was shook. I almost cried during stronger cause the feelings came hard. If Everytime or Lucky had been in the set I would've been a mess.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. When she kicked off the Circus Tour, all of the costumes were 10/10. That ringmaster outfit, the freakshow/peepshow outfits and the golden I'm a Slave 4 U outfits were snatching. cry1 But, as the tour went on the costumes became worse and worse each show. lol3

By the time she did the second leg of America after going around the world she was doing what she's doing in Vegas now.

The FF Tour was shorter, the costumes much simpler, and they made variations on all the costumes so Brit could have options each night.

They need to have an amazing designer like they did for the Circus tour with a few variations and options for the next show/tour like FF.

And after they revamp or start a new leg they need to go BACK to a designer for new pieces.

NOT have some shitty stylist running around LA sex shops and hot glueing crystals and sequins like Vegas has been for the last several years.

And for the love of Godney don't let Britney near any of the outfits with scissors. She's ruined at least a handful of outfits doing her own "alterations".

Yea it got removed along with Rock n Roll due to the massive props not being taken along.

I would have liked to have seen Everytime redone in some way though instead of removed completely as short as it was.

I was very excited to see Clumsy and CYM added. Seeing 4 Glory tracks live was a fun and they deserved it since we'll never get an album tour.
