Best:

Mariah

Worst:

TLC

Mariah can’t be a proper black role model cause she‘s mixed-race and white-passing. If anything, she promotes the stereotype that you can be very successful if you’re black and white-passing or if you have body features that aspire more to Western beauty standards (aka Beyoncé).

I‘d say none of these are good role models. Add SZA and Solange to the poll and then we can talk. The worst out of all of them is clearly Nicki.

Because they are mediocre and don't really have personalities

I always got TLC and ELC mixed up.

In the UK "elc" is a toy shop  for children under the age of 5.  ELC being an abbreviation for "The Early Learning Centre"...

She’s black hun, just like the fat forehead cunt in your avi is considered black

Hypocritical of you to try to dismiss Rihanna’s blackness while trying to convince someone that Mariah is black. ari9

Rihanna is not white-passing, let’s leave it at that so don’t try it with the « if Rihanna is then Mariah is too!!!!111 » narrative. ari9

No one in Europe and other parts of the world would even guess that Mariah is of black descent let alone say she’s black. I also noticed that some of you lambs try way too hard to convince everyone that Mariah is black, why is it like so important to y’all? Y’all seem to lose it when someone says otherwise. a kii. ari9

Didn’t dismiss Rihanna blackness whatsoever, seems you’re having trouble reading ari9

Rihanna has benefited from being racially ambiguous light skin, there was some quote by some record exec but I can find it. Meanwhile Mariah, debuted in a time where being racially ambiguous or mixed was still looked down enough, she wasn’t white enough or black enough ari9

Mariah is the best selling black female artist of all time, Henry from the republic of Macedonia can think Mariah is white all he wants, even though she doesn’t look like a pure white woman regardless of a blonde wig. ari9

We cape for our nubian queen because she’s been criticized and shamed for being biracial and many have denied her black heritage and struggle. And still do today ari9

Rihanna has never had to struggle, except finding which seat on the plane she wanted on her flight to America ari9

idk you constantly pointing out that Rihanna is light skin as if that changes anything to her blackness definitely comes off as an attempt to dismiss her heritage ari9

Not you acting like Mariah’s racially ambiguous ass was ever an issue for her career. rip2

Let’s be fucking real for a damn second, it was a privilege for Mariah, her white-passing ass was more marketable and appealing for the white audiences and her having some heritage just made Americans curious at the time. ari9

Your post makes no sense. You say Rihanna, a woman with apparent African features, benefited from being light-skin but Mariah didn’t benefit from literally looking white? You’re bias. Everyone can acknowledge that Mariah has black heritage but when it comes to the way she looks, she looks more like a Latina, and on a good day. ari9

Plus let me add that Rihanna IS NOT racially ambiguous.

Barbados just renamed the street Rihanna grew up on Rihanna Drive in honor of her

You seem to forget Mariah debuted in 1990, and Rihanna in 2005. Just the right time when the exotical and light skin craze started happening. ari9 1990s saw a unreplicated peak of huge global dark skin black artists.

It was not a priviledge more like a hinderance, for her emotionally, and career wise. Is she white, Latina, or black? Whitney was already doing just fine being a dark skin black woman, and was EATEN up by white audiences. ari9 The only place Mariah benefited from light skin with no debate is Asia, where there is a obvious bias towards light skin. ari9

Yes foreign born Rihanna benefited from light skin privilege, she was a foreign, racially ambiguous, exotical looking teen when she debuted. A match made in heaven for any straight man, woman who wanted to look like her, and gay man. Had Mariah debuted in 2005 I’d be saying the same thing, cause we know how everyone loves lightskin.ari9

Mariah has obvious black features, just because you have some preconceptions as to what a black person looks like, doesn’t mean they’re right ari9

And Rihanna is racially ambiguous lmfao2It’s obvious she is not just a normal black girl form america, that’s part of her appeal. She looks foreign, and there is no denying that. lmfao2

In what world does Rihanna look racially ambiguous? She looks like a lot of African American women in the states... I have cousins that resemble her.
